Peter, JOM,
Both of you read into my comments what you want to see.
This is what I said,
"If you honestly think that critcism of your leader will get you branded as a traitor, then one of two things has occurred. Either you seriously do not understand the nature of the country that you live in and that I lived many years in, or it has seriously changed over the last five years.
For your sake, I prefer that the former is true."
I ought to have added "I fear the latter may be true."
Because I do.
I can't attempt to try to explain the last five years of events in your country. For all of them, I lived here, attempting to integrate myself into a very different society. I can attempt to explain the last five years here, but that wasn't your query was it?
JOM, I am even more against Bush than is Peter. The last vote I cast was against him because I felt he was too stupid to run the country. Having found out that this is the grandson of the man who enabled the Saudi thugs to seize power in Arabia and who erected Aramco has made me even more against Bush. The Wahhabi faith is the faith of the Saudis and they've done their damnedest to make it look like Islam. It isn't. The Wahhabis have made peace impossible for us to reach with the Arabs. Between the ibn Sauds, the Moslem Brotherhood, the Taliban and Al Qaeda, they have erected a murderous regime in the lands of the star and crescent.
Tht is the enemy I continually talk about here on Blog Critics, the danger I continually warn against.
So I agree with you in large part, and with Peter in large part because you represent two sides of the same coin. Having lived in America once, and living 8,000 miles away now allows one to see that without getting all messed up with the petty squabbles that make up political discourse in your country.

Ruvy,You had me quite confused without that last comment. I have no misgivings about my country, only on this so-called elected official. I question a good part of our history in the past 45 years or so, not believing that the government has shared the truth in many instances. It sort of reminds me though, of how we were taught in grade school what a wondrous explorer was Columbus, how well we treated the Indians, etc.
Time always tells and I would like to be here in a hundred years (after the Hundred Year War of course) for no other reason than to learn the answers to my current questions.
I am cynical of our system.

Peter [Edited] If the PEOPLE cant get over the anti-Bush agenda and create ideasm options and alternative we deserve what we get...and yes their is a real war going on...not like the ones on tv or at the movies - timetables for withdrawl... that the left would like us to believe...
Ruv,,,Praise g-d and pass the amunition...good luck

Diz, You couldn't be more right.
The younger generations in America have become so pampered and protected I'm afraid that they won't even take the time to vote or become politically involved. They're so accostomed to someone wiping their asses for them they'll just let someone else vote. What's the worst that could happen? George Bush could be President?
I'm afraid that this is a situation created by our generation ( as Nancy said, everyone is programmed into believing what is important, what to buy, who to like etc) anything to make a buck no matter the cost
30 - Diz
Maybe people can't get over the anti-Bush agenda because they have reasons to do so. Its the delusional right wing bible thumpers who refuse to acknowledge the plausible facts that the anti-Bush agenda crowd present.
Its the crazy neo-cons who wouldn't vote against Terri Shiavo if she were running on the republican ballot because it might mean leaving gays and rape victims alone, and minding your own god damn business, "minimal government" hypocritical bastards. So lets not talk about people with an agenda there reverand.
Oh, and just so you know, not everyone who is against Bush is a far-left extreme democrat like some of your delusions will have you believe. Some people just can't handle the fact that the guy is imcompetent and corrupt.
31 - Peter J
[Edited] Define ideasm,( I can't find it in the dictionary), put an apostrophe in can't and 'alternative' what (?) and where is this anti-bush agenda (I'd like to sign up)! This 'war', if it's not like the ones on tv or the movies then how do I know where it is, I love a good fuckin fight! Now, what the fuck are you talking about? About this left shit, I'm a conservative who recognizes a corrupt administration who'se not only sold out their party but their country as well.
This is one of the most serious rants I've ever witnessed. [Edited]

Petey,
So rather than address thes issues you address my syntax? Again throw stones no answers or ideas!
A conservative? Please this is the classic "I used to be a right wing conservative but Bush is so fucked up Ill now support Howard Dean and his vision for America" Why must you left-louie types attemot to establish credibility trying to pass yourselves off as conservatives? It is really a joke..
Pete...admit it...your a "fake, phoney, fraud"
33 - Nancy
JOM, you have no basis for challenging Peter's credentials on anything. Or mine, for that matter. Or anyone else's. The only credentials you are responsible for are your own.
If you say you're a conservative, I believe you. If you claim to be on the Left, well, I'll take your word for it; I guess you should know. But frankly I don't think there's very many people who are 100% one way or the other. My own positions range all over the map from Left of Attila the Hun to Right of John Birch, it just depends on the issue being discussed, which is why I find it difficult if not impossible to accept being labelled as either Left or Right. I suspect most others (including you & Peter) are the same. So lay off the name calling. Calling names just means you've run out of cogent arguments & are reverting to kindergarten status.
34 - Peter J
Nancy, you're 100% correct.
I can't believe that I let this clown drag me into a pissing contest.
It solves nothing except to show ignorance.
Thanx for the slap on the head.

"But Nancy,,,don't you know ,,you and I are nuts?"
So much so that you are paralyzed, can't see clearly and don't know what to do next.
From your #29:
"They're so accostomed to someone wiping their asses for them they'll just let someone else vote. What's the worst that could happen? George Bush could be President?"
And what makes you think Kerry would be better? This fucker bent over backwards to portray himself as to the right of Bush.
The guy is a loser, but if got elected he would be doing much of what Bush team is doing.
I NEVER met a person that liked Kerry. Most that supported him did so out of an irrational fear and hatred of Bush.
Bush is a criminal ASSHOLE, but so are the rest of them. The problem is MUCH bigger than Bush and his two-bit party.
36 - JustOneMan
Petey and Gonzo...I mean Nancy...please read your responses to my posts to hear how silly you both sound...Heres the analogy that out Peter
A man cannot say that is heterosexual but I sleep with men
I am a good Christian because I go to temple every Saturday and keep a Kosher household
I am a vegetarian and do I love prime rib
You cannot "claim" to be a conservative then attack all conservative issues and leaders that is why Petey has been outed as a phoney conservative...
And petey it seems you are the clown pissing on yourself!
37 - Nancy
Your initial sentence isn't English, so I'm not sure what you're talking about, but I have not seen any of the so-called analogies you cite in anything Peter has written on this website.
One can most certainly be a conservative and "attack" (as you view it) or criticize severely other conservatives, their issues, and purported leaders. In case you hadn't noticed, there's an awful lot of disgruntled conservatives who feel that the legit GOP platform & conservative party issues have been hijacked by W. Bush, the neocons, and the ultra-religious reich, and they most certainly do bitch about all of the above - and it does NOT lessen their credibility AS conservatives, rather, it strengthens it. If you love something, you should criticize it if it fails to keep up to the standards set for it. I see a lot of Lefties criticizing various Dems, too; as well they should. Kowtowing unquestioningly to anything & everything that a faux-conservative, illicit leadership says & does isn't good citizenship or loyal: it's lazy, unthinking, outright stupid, and in the long run detrimental to the bona fide conservative cause, because it sets up a bunch of phonies into a position to do real harm to the party, that the majority of conservatives do not support.
Which is why Peter is not at all a "phoney conservative", but YOU very well may be. Think about it.

do me a favor, go back to 29 and copy and paste it , mark where I said 'Kerry' and post it

Peter J. #38
I pasted all that was necessary from your 29.
Again:
"They're so accostomed to someone wiping their asses for them they'll just let someone else vote. What's the worst that could happen? George Bush could be President?"
"..they'll just let someone else vote."
For president? In 2004? In the primaries? So your answer is to vote. Who would they vote for?
And "What's the worse that could happen?"
"George Bush could be president?"
It happened. What was the alternative? Kerry? Or someone on a shining white horse?
Own up to it.

No Dave,
This post was immediately taken over by aliens.I was under the assumption this was an exchange of ideas. I've never seen an edit before so that in itself goes to show where we went.
I'm embarrassed and I apologize that I didn't just ignore it but I allowed myself to let my freek out.
Won't happen again.

JOM: Criticizing Bush is not attacking a conservative. Conservatives believe in smaller, cheaper, less intrusive government, fiscal responsibility, the individual above the state, staying out of harmful entanglements in other nations' affairs and, above all, strict adherence to the Constitution. Partisans may find Bush's performance in line with these principles;many lifelong conservatives believe he's violated every single one.
42 - Peter J
Les,
there were other choices to make, even though you knew that they didn't stand a chance. I disliked Kerry, probably as much as you do but I also disliked Bush. So, what do you do?
Personally, if the atmosphere in the political arena doesn't change dramatically (they're all acting as stupidly as we were) and the candidates don't show any promise aside from the fucking rhetoric they're already spinning I will, if for no other reason than to make a point, consider a third party but, only if they show some promise.
Maybe a loud bang from that direction is what this country needs to grab everyones attention, left or right, and set them in the right direction, without all of the juvenile animosity.
There is absolutely no need or purpose for childlike banter on our choices. We're all in this boat and if we don't all put our collective heads together we may find ourselves in a world of shit! Literally!
There are far too many very serious issues, probably more so than any other time in our history.
I believe that we are all being played and that both parties have abandoned us at a most critical time. It's time for them to clean up their acts and behave responsibly rather than like children in a school yard yelling fight. Maybe we should all send a message, collectively , that we aren't going to put up with these disruptive antics any longer and if they continue in this direction with the slander and such (both parties) rather than telling us how they plan to run this country we would all consider alternatives.
Most of all, we can't go on bickering over each others choices. There'll be plenty of blame to go around if things don't change soon. Instead of getting angry over your choices try discussing them with a sense of humor (leave the spikes out) I have many friends and family members, some who had a very difficult time making a choice. Fortunately we were able to maintain civil conversation, all of us realizing others dilemna and maintaining relationships. Would this subject really be worth the loss of a much respected friend or family member? In the end we all agreed to disagree and busted chops on losers. All in good nature.
Even my Mother told my sister she was ready to forgive me for the 2000 elections. Luvya Ma!.

Peter,
Thanks for the serious, and honest response.
"Even my Mother told my sister she was ready to forgive me for the 2000 elections"
Did you vote for Nader?
More later.
