An NBC NEWS crew was embedded with troops when they moved in to secure the Al-Qaqaa weapons facility on 4/10/03, THE day after the liberation of Iraq. The HMX and RDX explosives were already missing when the American troops and the reporters arrived. Even MSNBC reported the bogus story about missing explosives; you’d think they would talk to the people at NBC. Must be like the CIA and the FBI before 9/11!
The new mouth of the Democratic Party, Joe Lockhart spewed this Monday night: "In a shameless attempt to cover up its failure to secure 380 tons of highly explosive material in Iraq, the White House is desperately flailing in an effort to escape blame. Instead of distorting John Kerry’s words, the Bush campaign is now falsely and deliberately twisting the reports of journalists. It is the latest pathetic excuse from an administration that never admits a mistake, no matter how disastrous."
Sounds more like the latest pathetic excuse from a campaign that tries to distort every good thing this country has done in the past 3 ½ years.
And then the great duck hunter said, "This is one of the great blunders of Iraq, one of the great blunders of this administration." Maybe kerry thinks we should have gone into Iraq even earlier now!
When asked why the International Atomic Energy Agency might come put with this BS story just 2 weeks before the presidential election, NBC NEWS Jim Miklaszewski quoted one official: "Recent disagreements between the administration and the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency makes this announcement appear highly political."

Thank God you've pointed out how only the Democrats distort the truth! I pray daily that the Republicans never EVER succumb to such evil and despicable acts! May the day never come when those pillars of moral virtue such as Rush, O'Reilly and others feel the need to distort reality!

When I first read your comment...I thought...democrats??? then it came to me...I am criticizing the media...and the media could easily be confused for a democrat pretty much any day.

Rush and O'Reilly moral? Umm... (mouth agape) I haven't seen any mention of any reporter coming forward to verify this claim. Until I do I am taking the word of our government who I quote "Err... we dunno where dey is!"

You might want to check out msnbc...they are finally catching up to big brother nbc and reporting the story a little more accurately.

Yes. Of course we know that virtually all of the major media conglomerates are run by raving liberals only pretending to be raving conservatives intent on smothering all outlets for free speech and investigative reporting...
If you're going to howl about the "bias" in media you have to be honest and admit that most major media outlets are owned by corporations and individuals that are incredibly conservative and interested in supporting ONLY the Republican POV.
I am opposed to ANY media that is glaringly bias. By bias I mean people who's intent is simply to promote their NARROW agenda - period. They have no desire to discover the REALITY of the situation - regardless of the consequences...

It is amazing to me...that people from all sides of the political spectrum can watch the same news programs and see bias in different directions.
Is it because the media is doing such a good job or is their reporting that bad?

Why let a few facts get in the way of a "good" story?
I am still slack-jawed at the "conservative corporate media"....oh yeah, I forgot about the vast right-wing conspiracy...
What color sky do these folks see?

Nattering about "conservative corporate media" dismissively doesn't dismiss the facts - there's an awful lot of it.
Examples include Rupert Murdoch's News Corp (Fox, etc.), Clear Channel, Sinclair Broadcasting, and numerous smaller nets that aren't noticed but provide free broadcast time - as well as slanted reporting - to the GOP.
(An example of the latter is Pappas Telecasting which owns 28 stations in 11 states and this week gave $325,000 worth of free air time to the GOP in California.)
Hell, even PBS has been infiltrated by neocons (see No Wonder Oscar is a Grouch opens in new window).
Get real.

Hal - somebody has to make up for CBS!

Andy, you should check into the facts on the media (the web is loaded with info).
The right wing taken over the huge slices of what you see and hear.
The bias is understandable since the corporations want to keep pushing their corporate control and influence over congress, but it means you and I don't get reporting that allows us to make up our minds based on the facts. Instead, we get editorializing disguised as news.
One example of one individual (Dan Rather) is not the same as broadcast networks such as Sinclair, Fox, Pappas, et al. propagandizing all the time.
There's probably no way to fix it now.
And we can look forward to a nation of brain-washed sheep.

Hal - do you really think that CBS corporate had NOTHING to do with what Rather did and what 60 minutes was planning to do with the story of the missing explosives?
12 - Hal Pawluk
Minor issue, Andy: it's still only a story or two or three.
The right-wing controls most of the media and most of what everyone in America sees and hears all day every day.
Open your eyes and do some research.

Most of the media...then explain Erics piece.

there's a difference between editorial content and news reportage.
16 - Hal Pawluk
The Wall Street Journal is a prime example of that, Mark.
Their news stories are journalistically excellent; their commentary and op eds are flaming neocon.

When trying to argue with Leftists who believe the mainstream media is conservative, I find the best response is laughter...
18 - andy marsh
Hal - you're dead wrong about Rather and cBS being a minor issue. It was a nasty attempt to steal an election.
19 - Hal Pawluk
Yeah, right, andy.
(Aside to self: Where do they come from?)

Good thing Ted Turner .sold CNN and cleared the way for all of those dirty,
rotten, scoundrely Republicans to take
over "THE MEDIA". Perhaps Hal and Al59
can explain why these despoilers of all
that is Good and Noble allow their serfs
to spew the Godawfulest, inanest tripe
as editorial opinion? This is plainly no
way to run a vast right wing conspiracy.
The owners of the NY Times and the Chi.
Trib. must be mighty frustrated whilst
monitoring their iniquitous media organs.

Which is worse?
- "Jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts."
- Invading a country without knowing the facts .
The answer may give you some perspective before you vote.22 - andy marsh
none of the above...I pick #3. completely bending the facts to suit your own personal bias.

Ah, another Bush voter heard from.
