Ten House Races Where Your Support Would REALLY Do the Most Good

Campaign expert Dick Morris recently blogged about focusing support on ten key house races where he believes money and personal effort will make the most difference for Republicans in November.  While I agree with the concept of focusing support on key races, there is a fundamental problem with the list Morris has put together. Instead of focusing on the best candidates, it is a list almost entirely composed of establishment-oriented candidates. It focuses on winning seats and ignores the imperative to change the focus of the party and the Congress in November.

While Morris' candidates may have a good chance of winning, they are mostly not the kinds of candidates who will move the GOP in a positive direction or take roles as principled leaders in Congress. They may end up being helpful votes as part of a future coalition, but they are not the right candidates to form the nucleus of a new and better Republican majority.

It's much more important in this key election to put your money and support behind GOP candidates who are both able to win and also dedicated to Constitutional principles and restoring the core ideals of the GOP. To redo Morris' work from the perspective of a pro-liberty activist rather than a political hack who used to call his pal Bill Clinton while he was in bed with a hooker and Clinton was playing hide the cigar with an intern, I offer my list of the ten house candidates who really deserve your help and your money. They are listed in order of my somewhat subjective assessment of their need and worthiness.

Terri McKormick (WI-8)

A strong Liberty Republican with outstanding effort and energy having a lot of success in a tough state. Poll results are sketchy, but she is one of the few candidates who still needs to win her primary, but assuming she does it seems likely that she will run neck and neck with her Democrat opponent and needs whatever out of state support she can get to take a clear lead.

    Dave,

You can't take back what does not belong exclusively to you in the first place.

    America belongs to us all...
Isn't that what personal liberty really means?

I had asked on a different thread, what do you think of Sharon Angle? I see she's not mentioned here.

Jeannie, Sharon Angle is running for the Senate, not the House, so she's not on topic for this article.

As for what I think of her, I think I did answer that on another thread.

And what I'm talking about is taking back the GOP for its grassroots and the government for the people. I have a stake in both of those.

    Greetings,
I for one want to give credit to the author for even recognizing Morris's establishments slant. I just wish you had 11 reviews because I'm convinced that Bill Gunn, mentioned in your closing, is EXACTLY the type of candidate we should be rushing to support.

I don't know how he did it, but Bill Gunn's volunteers gathered over 4,200 validated signatures in about three weeks. Not even the campaign knew this was happening. A silent army of citizens snapped into action and continues to gain traction. For the first time in my memory a solid candidate of the people could actually beat an entrenched incumbent, without the advantage of big government donor dollars.

I went to several events to listen to Bill Gunn speak. I don't have any money to offer, but I do have time. Especially since my business has become a economic statistic. Given what I heard, I've committed all of my free time to helping get Bill's words to the ears of the people in Massachusetts District one.

Our current Representative is a career politician and card carrying member of the Democratic SOCIALIST of American (DSA) named John Olver. He's completely unresponsive and has publicly spoken in condemnation of the Constitution. Olver also enjoys the financial support of teachers unions and a host of ACORN-type NGO's.

Please consider checking Bill Gunn's website out and donate if you can. Volunteers are always welcome too. Moreover, unlike Olver, if you contact Bill, he WILL get back to you! You can contact him at bill@billgunnforcongress.com Please research this candidate and help us take this federal seat back to the people.

    In Liberty,
    Dave

Good plug for Gunn. If he wins it could be phase two of the massachusets miracle. It all seems like good news to me. With Amash a sure win at least Ron Paul will have a solid ally in the house. If only a few more of these can win it will be revolutionary.

I agree with the comments about Bill Gunn. I've heard him a couple of times now and seems like someone we can really trust. Nobody gave him a chance just a few months ago but he is really surprising everyone with the level of support he is receiving and his energy. Oh, did I mention he actually has read and believes in the constitution?? What a concept.

The only reason I didn't include Gunn on the main list is that we have no polling data on his race and being in Massachusetts we have to look at his chances of winning with some skepticism. Still rooting for him, though.

    #25(from your other thread)

    Dave,

    Are you for, Sharon Angle?

Because, I'm very curious as to why a woman, that claims to be so religious, would not want to reverse the gambling and prostitution laws in the state of Nevada.

Yet, she wants to dismantle Social Security, Medicare, the Departments of Energy, EPA, Education, and Agriculture.

#8 Jeannie, are you positing that political/legal theory is chromosomally based? That a woman can't oppose Social Security, Medicare, redundant agencies, (Bad)Education, or the slush-fund Dept. of Agriculture, nor that a woman could see nothing wrong with legal gambling or prostitution?

Are political positions in Jeannie Danna's world dictated by whether you're XX or XY, or by genetic factors?

I ask 'cause it seems to me that Politics is a matter of personal Choice, not dictated by your pre-birth chromosomal pairings or your genetic/ethnic structural heritage-the genetic determinism theory went out the window credibility wise about the time that they finished dismantling the nazis, and I'm really surprised a self-described Progressive would have any truck with that kind of thinking.

Okay, I'm not really surprised-but I should be.

    Nobody says chromosomes, Cannonshop,

You are taking me out of context.

I do believe, that you can be raised toward a certain set of values. It depends on many factors, your parent's strength in political speech, where you live, and also your age can all attribute to what you vote.

    Dave,

Considering the fact that you all meet there, I wouldn't think that you would want gambling to be illegal...

    Sep 12, 2010 at 11:21 pm

Jeannie, I don't want gambling or prostitution to be illegal. I'd like them to be legal in every state. You seem not to understand that Sharon Angle or anyone else can have personal religious convictions and separate them from public policy where they may yield to the will of the people.

Sharon Angle or anyone else can have personal religious convictions and separate them from public policy where they may yield to the will of the people.

What about retirement and health care insurances for the elderly(Social Security and Medicare), can she separate her *religious convictions* from these as well?

I have to get some of that religion, very convenient...

they may yield to the will of the people.

So, the people desire prostitution and gambling more than national health care, jobs, and social security insurance.

It will be another Massachusetts miracle...Bill Gunn believes we need effective representation. John Olver is a career politician (over 40 years) who is out of touch and unresponsive.

I am amazed at how far the Bill Gunn campaign has come - the next 7 weeks are going to be exciting!

Bill Gunn has made great strides against John Olver, because he is a constitutionalist. The people are tired of the same old liberal lie in Massachusetts. Scott Brown was a miracle, but he has turned out to be an establishment RINO. Bill's district is huge and it has large swaths of Leftist voters to contend with. The volunteers he has in his camp are working tirelessly to get his name out there in every town. John Olver has done no favors for the common people. His constituents who vote for him are big labor, and the educational elite who indoctrinate our children on a daily basis. I live in Bill's district and will do whatever I can to see him win. We don't have much money, but we do have heart and a belief in a good man who truly cares about his home state. GO BILL GUNN

Curious expression: "...because he is a constitutionalist.". What does this mean? If I say that everyone and anyone has a right to yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater because of the first amendment, does that make me a 'constitutionalist'?

    Dave -

I notice in your article that you're paying a lot of attention to the polls...yet when I quote polls (and provide links to them (which you didn't do)), you immediately dismiss them on the supposition that people shouldn't pay attention to polls since people 'lie'.

Again, why is it that you feel that you are allowed to choose which polls have credibility, and that any polls I reference have NO credibility (apparently by default)?

    Hm?
