Spare Some Love for Hugo Chavez - Comments Page 4

Assailed on all sides, Hugo Chavez stands firm for a better life for the people of Venezuela and all nations.

Everyone's favorite Banana Republican, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela took time out from a busy schedule of personally rewriting the new Venezuelan constitution, making it illegal to criticize his regime, shutting down newspapers and having political opponents imprisoned, beaten and murdered in their homes to announce that the spirit of Josef Stalin appeared to him in a dream and told him that the United States was planning to have him assassinated, though Papa Joe neglected to mention that political assassinations are specifically prohibited in the United States under President Reagan's 1981 Executive Order 12333, which says, “No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, assassination," and which has been reaffirmed by every president since that time including President Bush.…

Mark, Coke-a-cola, one of the largest contributers to right wing causes and a huge sponsor to pro-Christian events would like to teach you to sing along with the rest of us...in perfect harmony....

Perhaps your 'hey the rest of the world, fuck off, I have the solution to everything and that's it' isn't as marketable/doesn't sell as well, as you might think.

"Perhaps your 'hey the rest of the world, fuck off, I have the solution to everything and that's it' isn't as marketable/doesn't sell as well, as you might think."

It doesn't sell to liberals but the last I checked, liberals don't run the world. Thankfully, big business does. The almighty dollar, yen, yuan, euro, dinar, whatever, does. If you aren't part of that big business machine you naturally would feel bitter and resentful, but that feeling is misplaced and doesn't acknowledge the beauty of free enterprise. Free enterprise is not some all-inclusive entitlement. It's there for people that know how to use it. There are no guarantees that it must work for you. You either have it or you don't.

    "the beauty of free enterprise."

Which you have no concept of with your handouts to failing corporations.

Actually, the really bad part about corporate welfare is that it doesn't go to failing corporations, it usually goes to the most successful ones.

I say cut the corporate tax to 12% like Ireland and give them no other breaks or handouts whatsoever. Oh, and tax the churches too while we're at it.

I agree, Dave: tax the churches/synagogues/mosques/whatever. Robertson's alone ought to be good for a couple mill a year...God knows how much the IRS could get out of Falwell & some of these other televangelizing jokers. Not to mention the catholics....

"The liberals/Leftists here want to confuse/belittle you because it makes them feel superior,"

And they have all losted and looked stupid useing those tactics. Haven't they.

"You're intelligent and curious. That puts you above 90% of people your age."

No, the puts me above 90% all liberals.

"But you aren't going to win too many arguments against grown adult Leftists on the Web until you bone up on your facts, and stop spewing right-wing talking-points."

    oh Anthony...

would that you understood half of what you are conversing about, rather than mindlessly parroting dogmatic proclamations gathered from the endless intake of Fox News or Rush Limbaugh

i am very glad to hear that you are doing well in schol so far, keep it up...expand your mental horizons...take that advanced math class, physics...everything they have to offer you...READ stuff, not just what you have to for class, but anything and everything (besides current politics) that Interests you...there is so much out there and you have shown such a narrow Viewpoint, that it will do you nothing but good to swim in the seas of Knowledge and integrate it for yourself

as for any thought of "winning" in an argument or debate held via the medium of the Internet...this just goes to show that at your current stage of development, if we took the classic metaphor of the optimist/pessimist "water glass" and applied it to Wit, yours would be only half full...

i actually look forward to a few years from now, after the world has opened you eyes a bit and you have passed through some of the kicking around that all young men experience once out on their own and not living at home, perhpas coming across your writing once again to see how much you may have grown...

    well, i can Dream...can't i?

"parroting dogmatic proclamations gathered from the endless intake of Fox News or Rush Limbaugh"

Rush Limbaugh airs while I am at school.
Fox News is the most reliable news for politics, but they get carried away with stuff like Scott Peterson and Natalie Holloway.

Eventhough Fox is the most reliable it still isn't that reliable: They air far more liberals than conservatives and they only show the bad stuff in Iraq. They haven't once told of the good stuff in Iraq.

"perhpas coming across your writing once again to see how much you may have grown..." by Gonzo Marxist

O'Reilly and Greta need to be fired, they give Fox a bad name.

And for you liberals: You can't beat me in Politics so you attack my age, because that is all you got.

No, it's probably Anthony since he has shown he can't spell the word "friend," but there are two other suspects. I believe I'm supposed to be insulted/offended by my claims of homosexuality, yet I'm not sure why. Since he loses all his arguments in his own words, it's an admitted deafeat on their part. parting Thoughts...

"anthony"..yet another trollbot...you are mistaken if you thought that my comments were meant as any kind of attack..quite the contrary..i meant each and every bit of them

i don't expect you will change your views, or do a political turnaround...either way, i could care less...i merely think it will be interesting to see what you become

try reading some George Will, or William F Buckley to find out what a respected true "conservative" can be...both men are highly intelligent, and quite ethical by any standard....both are men i Respect, even when our views may differ

you see, the intelligent exchange of ideas between differing viewpoints is what gives our Republic it's strength...try reading some Jefferson, or Franklin...

that was meant if you are actually what face value states..

on the other hand, you could be just another trollbot and a complete prevarication...

    Hi Everybody-

    Check out the URL

I must say that the pride of our country, the lack of true journalism pertaining to politics, and the unjust hatred and dis-respect for other nation's leaders proves that there is alot of stereotyping and bias towards non-Americans. We can blame our history books, the controling powers of the military industry in our government, lack of journalism from our media sources (which means divulging into both sides of a story - like it or not), even our religious leaders we follow. We are born to this Earth, given a set structure that we abide as our previous generations that are no longer have.

To think, as prideful Americans, that we are exempt from any wrong doing to any other country in its 200 year plus existance would be very shallow and niave. When it comes to power, control, and obtaining resources to survive beyond coorporate profits who are we to say that our government does what God teaches us to do not what thier own personal temptations tell them to do?

I feel that President Bush has pushed the envelope with his administration's neo-con agenda further and faster than any resent President over the last generation. A neo-cons agenda represents about 2% of what the rest of the country's peoples morals, ethics, and values through religous upbringings that have been instilled since the first trace of written documentation we can trace back in our history. Because of this, we as a ntion have never been so divided as now. People are more socially withdrawn then ever before because of this divide.

I also feel that the internet is the wild wild west of unregulated information due to its nuance over the last 10 years. Prior to the interent we would just accept what our local media was feeding us rather uncoditionally. Now when we question, we can reference the internet and rationalize based on logical deductions of reason. Anyone who wishes to rule the world must regulate the internet to suppress grassroots oppresion.

Now, I am curious on everyone's opionion on how they go about judging the President of the US, Venezula, and Iran. My opinion is the smartest of the group is Iran based on dealing with the media and how he handles himself and his insurities with the media. It appears he has less to hide than our President, Bush. Chavez appears to have a huge heart, but his emotions seem to get in the way of his underlying message. To say that our President is the devil does not make him credible amongst the prideful American people. If he truly wants to make the world better, he needs to take the high road even though our government was (is) trying to oust him out of power and of oil that his country is territorially entitled too. Whether we like it or not, he is seen as a more credible and popular leader(beyond our sceptical media) amongst the other world nations.

As for Bush, here are my questions:

Who is he to tell other nations what they can and can't do, while we are doing what he tells them they can't (Hypocrite) (Playing God)?

If we found WMD in Iraq what would we be doing differently over there now? Answer = Nothing.

Why is he and his VP exempt from the Constition that everybody else has to live and abide under? Examples are testifiying under oath, warrantless wiretapping, keeping their profiles under wraps in an archive, accountability or explainations for anything under the scope of thier elected roles. I will stop there because I don't wanted to be labeled as Anti-American, Communist, or Terrorist. For some reason these labels seem to explain everything for anybody who wishes not to understand the situation or further thier education on getting through ones own insecurites or biases.

If we American's truly wish to be above all other nations, then we need to start acting like it. If we do not consistently take the high road and create continuity, the we will be less greater than the Iran's or Venezula's of the world. And Dave, common sense trumps one sided facts in supporting your personal views. A true journalist will go beyond there own insecurities in order to allow others to judge for them.

    God Bless The World!

  • 162 - Troy

    Sep 21, 2006 at 2:37 pm

    Polished Question to Ask (Revised):

    1) who is President Bush to tell other nations what they can and can't do, while we are doing what he tells them they can't when it comes to Geneva Convention laws, Nuclear power, terrorism, ECT. (Hypocrite) (Playing God)?

    2) If we found WMD in Iraq what would we be doing differently over there now? Answer = Nothing. If the answer is nothing, then how can any nation be safe from imperialism regardless of what the country does within its own borders?

    3) Why he and his VP are exempt from the Constitution that everybody else has to live and abide under? Examples are testifying under oath, warrant less wiretapping, keeping their profiles under wraps in an archive, accountability or explanations for anything under the scope of their elected roles. I will stop there because I don't want to be labeled as Anti-American, Communist, or Terrorist. For some reason these labels seem to explain everything for anybody who wishes not to understand the situation or further their education on getting through ones own insecurities or biases. If we are not allowed to question or convict the executive branch then where is the check and balance system that was instilled in our country to keep them honest?

    4) The President made a promise that Bin Laden would be brought to justice. Why has the administration’s philosophy changed, and why do we have mixed messages from what he said to the nation originally?

    5) Why did the administration mean after 9/11/01 when the house speaker, Bush, Cheney, Rice tell the media point blank that they had no prior knowledge of 9/11, when in 8/6/01 a President daily briefing (PDB) memo found by CBS reporting title Bid Laden Intending to Strike in the US plus other documentation since late 1999 tells the world otherwise?

  • 163 - Nancy

    Sep 21, 2006 at 2:45 pm

Because BushCo - Bush, Cheney, and all the rest of the gang - have never hesitated to lie, cheat, present fraudulent or fabricated evidence, and betray or subvert the constitution & laws of the US in order to get their way, that's why. These men have no morals, no ethics, no honor, no honesty, and (increasingly) no credibility either.

Interesting reading, always nice to hear both sides! I'm not left or right but somewhere in between. I think both sides contribute to the country and keep each other in check. Bush is a dumbass but so is the democratic congress as far as i'm concerned. Socialism is a stupid idea and will never work. Who the hell would want to give more money and power to our government? They have never managed any program successfully?(think about it seriously)

I say let Gays get married, watch all the porn you want, but stop killing babies out of convenience and let me teach my own kids about sex and birth control!

I love my country and really don't give a shit about the rest of the world unless it affects my way of life (call me what you what, but allot of good men died for THIS country).

One thing I don't understand is why the far left thinks every other place on planet earth is better than the good old USA. If you hate the U.S. do us all a favor and LEAVE!

    peace out
