Solving the Problem of the Mexico-US Border

Will Mexico become a US state? It has to if the US is going to win the war on terrorism and illegal immigration. But that's just my opinion. It makes sense too. I don't have a problem with it, and the whole of America should be embracing the idea of Mexico joining the Union. There are heaps of benefits for both the US and Mexico if that scenario were to play out. The biggest benefit to the US is the ability to protect its borders and citizens more efficiently, and likely at a far lesser cost.

If Mexico was to become the 51st State of the Union, that would pretty much put an end to traffickers plying there trade down in Mexico, and throughout the US. Traffickers have quite a little enterprise happening on both sides of the border. If it wasn't for traffickers there would be fewer [illegals] running around in the US. Of the supposedly 11 million illegal immigrants in the US, I wonder how many of them found their way into the US via the human-trafficker? And what about drug-traffickers? That’s a big problem too.

I bet terrorism has crossed back and forth over the border into the US many times, aided by human traffickers.

Trafficking, whether in humans or in drugs, is a worldwide problem that enables terrorists to walk freely among us. I can't imagine anybody winning the war on terrorism without having control of its borders and airspace, or having the ability to detain illegals. Tighter border controls, stricter visa requirements, and detention are the best tools any country will have in fighting the war on terrorism, drugs and human trafficking.

Of course, there are those [tools] who believe protecting the rights and privacies of a non-citizen is more important than preserving the innocent lives that may be lost in an act of terrorism. Let's not forget about the lives lost to drugs, and the crime that comes with having an under-patrolled border either. If Mexico was to become part of the US, the problems on the Mexican-US border would be virtually eliminated.

interesting idea, not sure if the Mexicans would go for it though.
Also, you seem to be confusing the issue of illegal immigrants with terrorism a bit there. Rest assured, these *are* two separate issues.

That would be an easy solution for a Canadian to state. I don't say that with anything but the fact that, you don't understand. There is a 3000 mile buffer zone between you and the unlawless, corrupt Mexican state of affairs. It's worse than you can ever imagine. America is heaven to the masses in the improverished, disenfranchised regions in Mexico.

Here's a gauge. Watch what happens in NOLA when the Mexicano workers arrive and with them comes the cartels, the black tar heroin cartels. You will never, in your lifetime see a raging turf war, like the one brewing in NOLA between the gangbangers and the incoming Mexican mafia. Then, after reconstruction... head down to NOLA for a visit. Better yet, go down right now and check out the superdome, the aftermath of death by superdome, and those inside the dome that inflicted rape, murder, and pillage on women, children, the aged and themselves. It was horrific. Now those responsible for that... are the opposing forces entrenching themselves against the incoming the black tar thugs. It's going to be interesting to actually see how much press that one gets. I'm betting the PC card is played and no one but the Law Enforcement crowd are going to be in the know.

Wise up. The reality of the situation will not be viewed nor figured out from your desktop.

hi. i'm fourteen years old in high school and even i dont think that is going to work. come on, mexico a state? that's like asking for more problems. do you know how many drug problems we're having right now? yes, lets add mexico to it that why there isn't any hope for our drug problem. then poverty. poverty is a problem as is so why would we add their poverty too. do you not remember the whole new orleans situation. i live in lake charles and we have people from new orleans who say that poverty was bad in new orleans. also they discuss it on the news 24/7 about new orleans even though its been months. so tell me again why we should include mexico as one of our states.

This idea of Annexing Mexico into the fold of the United States is just plain stupid on many levels. It would take Generations for this "project" to gain an equilibrum point.
Economic. Comared to the United States there is a vast majority of the Mexican Population that is in poverty. All those people would automatically be eligible for A) Unemployment B) social security and C) welfare.
I have been to Tiajana and from what i have seen there is no acceptable housing and most of the town was a shack; meaning that the Govt would have to declare it all not to code meaning they would be eligible for Federal aide.

Drugs. by making mexico a state (or series of states) you would make the drug smugglers happy. One of the US citizen rights are to freely move about the country from state to state without monitoring or passports or anything. Meaning you take that wall down.. and give everyone a US citizenship... drugs would get way cheaper because they could bring it in by the Uhaul full every day without checks.

Benifits from mexico. Honestly there really are none. They really dont have anything to offer us other than we can expand into the country and distroy all the culture and make strip malls and apartment complexes. The land value would sky rocket.

    FIXING MEXICO.
A little unknown fact, In the mexican constitution there is a provision that says that Mexicans can NOT freely move from country to country. SO by illegally jumping the border they are breaking both US and Mexican laws. This law however is not enforced or even a second thought...
To fix Mexico, I dont believe that we should take them over. I think that their consitution is good (actually modeled after ours). They just need to get good polititians (if there is such a thing) and a police force that is less coruptable. The biggest thing that can be done is to open the land so that anyone can actually buy it. THe US is one of the only countries that let forieners to buy their land. Mexico you can rent the land for 99 years (for corperations) and I dont know for individuals. If you allowed companies and individuals to buy land, corperations would move down there, and so would people that are looking to get out of this counrty due to politics or whatever. There was a town in mexico that was erected by US Veterans of the Vietnam war. They spent lots of money, and the Mexican governtment just kicked them out with little notice and took all the homes.

To fix the US. I think that you really need to get tough on both businesses and individuals that break the law.
For businesses make it so unattractive to hire illegals that if they did they could jeperdize everything. start with 10 day stoppage of all operations with vacation pay for all legal residents. a huge fine per person and possible criminal charges.
For individuals, dont just release them over the border, drive them 100 miles from where they were picked up and drop them over the border there. Women and Children same thing...

It is true that hopping the border is a form of invasion. and by the numbers per day and year that they come over is staggering and scary... If they want to make a new life for themselves then fine, fill out the proper forms, go to the classes and become a citizen. Dont hop a border and think you can suck off the system or whatever...
