What ordinary people are saying about Cindy Sheehan leaving Camp Casey.
"100 to 1 against coming back. She's feeling the heat and wants out. The mother story is made up or exaggerated - wait and see. Good riddance. Now the trash cleanup crews can try to restore the countryside to what it was before the filth parked there in the first place. But there will always be a nasty stain.".....Reverend Scaramonga at Blogs for Bush
"She was looking for a way to leave and try to save face. I doubt her mom even had a stroke. She won't be back!".....JD at Blogs for Bush
"Mr. president, we are staying here, we are keeping this vigil, this vigil is larger than Cindy," .....Mimi Evans of Military Families Speak Out at AfterDowningStreet.org
"I hated leaving Camp Casey, but this is a family emergency and the doctor couldn't really tell us about the status of our mother by phone. I couldn't bear to be worrying about her from so far away. We are carrying Camp Casey with us in our hearts, though, and Camp Casey will be moved to its new location and thriving when I get back.".....Cindy Sheehan at Daily Kos
"Sorry to hear about her mum, but…exhale - I don’t want to read anymore about this.".....Darcey at Dust My Broom
"It has been 10 days since I first posted on Cindy Sheehan, and after sticking my neck out and taking massive amounts of ongoing abuse and ridicule for giving her the scrutiny she deserves, I am more than happy to let others pick up the slack."..... Michelle Malkin
"she's the dirt on the bottom of my shoes. good riddence you traitor lowlife. like anyone cared about her anyway".....Chad commenting at Blogs for Bush
"As the mother of 2 sons who served in Desert Storm, I think Cindy needs to be hauled off in a straight jacket. Dissent is one thing, harrassment is another. If any of us had some idiot following us around and camping near us, we would be using the "stalker" word. What a convenient excuse to leave just as caravans of mothers are going to Crawford to tell Cindy she is a looney left wing antisemetic terrorist supporting menopausal nutjob.".....comment by uffy at Blogs for Bush
Ordinary Joe says...."man, those Blogs for Bush readers don't pull no punches"

Article comments
1 - Rich
I would have hoped to read an article worth a post on BC, this is surely not one of them.

I beg to differ. A compilation of a cross-section of comments about the topic does have some value. Not sure it's a real article, but it's a worthwhile tidbit.

Come on Dave,
I would find it troubling if your not sure whether this is an article or not.
Count how many sentences he actually wrote himself, two.
Michelle Malkin is not "ordinary"
at best she is LESS then ordinary.

Shark, he did include a couple of good quotes from the pro-cindy side. No need to vent quite so much bile on him.

I understand why this site is called Blog Critics. Dave, thanks for your support.
For the record, the theme for my site generally is providing the thoughts of "ordinary people" (including myself) on topics of interest to ordinary people. Hence, the name "Ordinary Joe". In the subject article (call it something else if you don't like the term), I thought some people might be interested in a quick summary of what other people were saying on the topic--some might, others may not.
I think it is my right to submit info in this format in trying to carve out my niche.
If you think this is "cheating" or lacking "thought", believe me, the research to try and present a balance of opinion from a balance of people took a lot longer and was more difficult than just expressing my own positive or negative opinion. Also, a quick check of my site would reveal many well written articles by myself, so, I can do that too.
In closing, I thought long and hard about using so called "celebrity" or "professional" opinions as part of my summary. In the end, I chose to view everybody as an"ordinary" person as we are all supposed to be equal under the law blah, blah, blah....To avoid the Michele Malkins', Daves' or even Richs' would be unfair.

Wow. This really is Viet Nam all over again. It's not the war itself--it's the sharp divide among our citizens. I remember Viet Nam pretty well, well enough to remind/inform you that there was no middle ground: You were either for or against the war, period.
Most memorable slogan from that time: "My country, right or wrong."
I had thought that we had a little ways to go before it got to that point again. I can see now that we are far past it. I suppose that the equivalent of that 70s slogan is "Support Our Troops".
You'd think it was ambiguous, i.e., each and every one of us decides for him or herself what "supporting the troops" means. This is not what I found in my informal survey this week: Whenever I saw the slogan on a car, I asked the driver/passengers what it meant. Eleven out of eleven said, "It means standing up for our President."
To be fair, I live in a military town, and the survey results reflect only cars whose occupants were present and willing to answer me.
The problem with the extreme division is that it doesn't go away. Whenever the situation in Iraq (is it a war? an invasion? anybody?) ends, the animosity remains. It is reinforced by pundits on all sides, seeking only to profit from whatever hatred they can inspire.
I think that each of you who've made a habit of arguing about this issue could stand to zoom out to the big picture. In particular, you may wish to ask yourselves whether there is anything that anyone could do that would satisfy you. If you get what you are screaming that you must have, will you then be happy? Or could it be that you'll find something else to rant and rave about?
It's up to you how you live your life. If having it defined by reactions to what other people do is what you really want, well... go for it. Just be aware of what it is you're doing, to yourself and to those around you.
If Cindy Sheehan's family really is upset about what she's doing... how does your family feel about what you're doing?

"You can support the troops but not the president." -- Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)
"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life." -- Sean Hannity, Fox News
"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is." -- Governor George W. Bush
These quotes are all circa 1998-1999. These GOP stalwarts were talking about Clinton's commitment of troops
to Bosnia. Funny, isn't it? What do we gain by identifying the "bad guys" and then going after them with everything we have?
