The furor spreads! Bush's coming visit to Egypt could also spark domestic disturbances over his presence and his policies, a probability that has to worry US puppet ruler Hosni Mubarek, who could face toppling by the Islamicized population which at one time held only a 4% approval rating of his mentor, the United States government of George W. Bush.
It also doesn't help the rabidly desired Crude-sade of King George one bit that Iran has agreed to answer all questions concerning its nuclear program. I'm inclined to believe that the Iranians will honor this commitment more than George trusts the American intelligence community's assessment of the region! He knows better than they so, I guess.
If one chooses to look, one can find that the Gulf States are taking steps to solve their local issues without needed the "guidance" offered by the Bush administration. George's saber-rattling trip is overshadowing the real news of the region, which is that - like the Latin Americans - the Gulf States have announced the formation of a common market which doesn't include the participation of America. And, despite their concerns over Iran, President Ahmadinejad was invited to attend last month's Gulf Cooperation Council meeting. I've not found anything to indicate that the Bush administration was represented there in any meaningful way.
The sum total of such incidents illustrate the flagging leadership role of the United States under George W. Bush in the world's economic affairs. Since George has made America the sixth wheel on the world's trade cart, there is a growing interest in seeing George ride his pygmy pony into the sunset toward his secure little homestead on the Texas prairie. For most, this can't happen soon enough, even if it was yesterday. It should happen while the people of the region still like the American people in spite of our government. We won't like it much if we wait to do something about George wuntil they no longer do.
Sic semper flatus. Now go cut some brush, Dumbya, before I lay some more bastardized Latin on you!

I wonder if Realist realizes that the traditional throne of Persia is known as the 'Peacock Throne'.

Hey, you've got to give Realist some credit. This is his first article that didn't abruptly jump into debt and exchange rates 2/3 of the way through. I still don't agree with him, but his writing is improved.

Bushs failures in foreign policy are evident for all to see. He's destroyed the Army, discredited USA military leadership, discarded traditional diplomacy and alienated our allies. He's disarmed himself. He doesn't have anything left to fight with after wasting all resources on the bootless Iraqi Invasion.
He's frontloaded the whole invasion with promises to stay in Iraq until he wins the GWOT, which means forever, and already spent a trillion $$ to secure the obligation.
He's blown the US treasury with expensive tax and contract gifts to the powerful friends he admires and thereby insured that there is no slack in the federal economy to finance domestic programs which might help the weak Americans he despises.
Today Bernanke announced a 3/4 point reduction in the Prime Rate, thus illustrating the bankruptcy of GWBs economic policies.
Isn't Bush going to retire to his 90,000 acre ranch in Paraguay with his Life Companion Cheney?
