There's nothing like a presidential campaign for kicking up the dust into the faces of the major players. We don't need the sage predictions of pundits or for the candidates to implode with negative comments directed at each other. Now Paris Hilton has answered back to John McCain's use of her image in the campaign ad decrying Barack Obama as merely a "celebrity," thus implying that the Democratic senator is a man of little substance.
OK, I shouldn't admit this, but I watched the ad. On one hand, it's wildly hilarious, probably her best moment in video in a long time. The beginning of the tape is especially precious, with a parade of "old" dudes like Colonel Sanders, Yoda and Larry King prefacing her monologue. I almost split a gut.
Granted, I may be the only person on the planet who hasn't seen her sex tape, but I have caught snippets of The Simple Life (thanks to my teenage daughter), and it only took a few moments for me to determine that the program was very possibly the worst show on television (with a disclaimer: at the time). It made me want to hate the dumb, blond, rich, spoiled persona that is Paris Hilton.
On the other hand, with all humor aside, in her current video she makes some valid points regarding our current energy crisis. It makes me wonder why she wasn't dragged into Congress before they decided to take a vacation and leave the rest of us in misery. Speaker Nancy Pelosi could really take a page from Book Hilton.
My only reservation would be her choice of running mate. Rihanna? You've got to be kidding me.
Paris now joins a rich tradition of off-the-wall candidates for president. Think Pat Paulsen, who was funny, but an old guy. He was probably the longest running non-presidential candidate.

If Paris Hilton can get the energy plan right, why can't Pelosi?

Paris is smarter (not to mention waaay better looking) than Pelosi?

Yes, but does Pelosi have a sex tape? Is she less bored in it?

Sources close to her say she was all set to make one, but couldn't find a cinematographer willing to take responsibility for aiding and abetting...
