Operation Ceasefire - For Iraq?

This Saturday there will be an anti-Iraq war protest and concert in DC. I am absolutely against the war in Iraq. I think a huge protest in DC and a concert with speakers to show America that 60% of us want it stopped is a great idea.

BUT

I have a HUGE problem with one of the speakers. One of the many speakers will be Cindy Corrie.

Who's Cindy Corrie and why do I care?

Cindy is Rachel Corrie's mom. Rachel Corrie is the 23-year-old American student who was run over and killed by a Caterpillar D9 bulldozer on March 16, 2003. This was in Gaza and her parents are currently suing the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Two points:

1. It is sad that she lost her daughter and I hate it for her. But you cannot go on the front lines of the intifada and expect that there will be no violence. Also she claims that the IDF was destroying homes of innocent people - these same innocent people had family members who were suicide bombers. Nuff said.

2. What the hell does this have to do with the war in Iraq? I am totally turned off something that is right up my alley because I dont want to hear any bullshit Israel-bashing. This is a rally and concert to pull troops out of Iraq and has less than nothing to do with Israel.

I haven't seen a mixed message this bad since Bush convinced half the country that Saddam flew planes into US buildings.

Because all wars in the middle-east are somewhat attached to the isrealy conflict. And the Israelies haven't been much of humanitarians. Although Ariel Sharon's latest comments on Palestinian freedom caught me off-guard. I'm still waiting to see if he means it.

I'd say the inclusion of Corrie is typical of those who are protesting the war. It's not that they're against the war in Iraq, they're just against the administration and anyone who stands with them - like Israel.

Rachel Corrie died helping Arabs to kill Jews. The house she was protecting was found to contain weapons and explosives. No one was living there.

And for anyone who still thinks that the war in Iraq is being fought solely for Israel's benefit, then explain what the British are doing there. The British hate the Israelis. For the past 30-35 years, they have been giving sanctuary to terrorists who attack both Israeli and Jewish targets throughout Europe. These people would go to war to help Israel?

And please explain to me how putting into power an Iraqi government run by Shiites with ties to Iran, Syria and Hezbollah benefits Israel?

The anti-war movement has some good points to make. Unfortunately, they have been taken over by anti-Semites.

    Re comment #3 by Dave Nalle;
Wrong, know-it-all. As a veteran and a war protester, I'm against the pre-emptive invasion and occupation of Iraq. Don't put words in my mouth, OK control freak?

MCH - the name calling is quite a telling sign that you've lost the battle.

    Jeliel -
The war in Iraq is tied to the Israeli conflict with palestine? How is that?

Corrie was an American protestor- not a soldier - in Israel- not Iraq.

I hope you may shed some light on this for me. Because I am all for getting US troops out of Iraq, though it would probably leave the place worse than it was when we went in. Nothing like taking a shit on something and leaving a mess.

But I am a little pissed off at those who blame Israel or think that they are the reason the US is in Iraq. Just like I am pissed at American ignorants who think we are there because of 9/11.

ISM members are people who use their clout as white Americans to stop global oppression. Rachel Corrie was one of these idealistic people.

I don’t even think the point was wheather or not the Palestinian homes were of innocent people or not. The point was that she stood infront of a huge bulldozer in a volitile area and got run down. This is like walking around on the freeway, getting hit by a car and blaming the person who hit you.

It’s her own fault for going. Yea it’s sad but I honsetly dont think that she could be seen from the perspective of the bulldozer driver. Have you ever driven one of those things? You need like 3 people directing them from all different sides. This one was a freakin tank.
