News from Hebron

The last several days have seen unrest among the Jewish population of Hebron, in the Judaean mountains.

The government is trying to expel Jews from the Shalhevet Pass neighborhood there, a neighborhood named for a little infant killed in her father’s arms by CIA trained terrorists early in this latest Arab rebellion in Israel.

For some background we go to Arutz Sheva. We learn that contrary to the carelessly worded reports that do make it to the mainstream media,

...the land in question was never used for Arab homes. In fact, it was purchased by Chaim HaMitzri on behalf of the Jewish community in or around the year 1807. Jews had lived there for 250 years before that; the purchase contract referred to the "Street of the Jews." In 1929, however, Arab residents massacred their Jewish neighbors, cruelly murdering 67 of them in their homes. The survivors were hurriedly evacuated from the area, and the Jewish houses and synagogues were abandoned and left uninhabited.

A South African on-line publication looks at this with the title “Israel tries to quell Jewish intifada.” Its breaking news comes from this morning, indicating that Israeli goon squad types, the Yassám units of the Israeli police, had seized control of the neighborhood in spite of assurances to the contrary.

The semi-official newspaper Haaretz opines through the lenses of the government that it is time to deal with the Hebron hooligans. It reported that the houses in question were owned by “Palestinians.” Y-net news talked about how an Arab almost got lynched by angry settlers and talked about how rabbis “threatened” the government over its expulsion of Jews from Jewish owned land in Hebron.

About mid-day tensions grew very high. Shlomo Wollins reported live from the city and posted pictures to his internet site about events going on in Hebron.

Eventually a tense calm returned to the city in the afternoon, as reported by Arutz Sheva.

The interesting thing about all this was that there was nary a peep on the American media. I got several emails attesting to this. Google News did not carry it as a leading story at all. It mentioned the fact that Ariel Sharon was reported to have opened his eyes or fluttered his eyelids.

The real story out of Hebron is told by Hadar in an e-mail to me and a few thousand other friends and acquaintances.

There is no limit to the extent to which the media would go to manipulate people. Living in Qiryat Arba - Hebron for twelve years has much re-enforced this "hunch"...

I'm writing from Jerualem. The events in Hebron are not too far, but rather predictive of what will come soon under this evil regime.
