Michael Moore, And The Anti-American Extreme Left

Read this. If you don't want to puke after reading Moore's quotes, you should probably just pack up and move to France. Or Iran.

Roger & Me was a funny film. I was able to overlook the out-of-context nature of it, and the leftist bias, and actually enjoy the humor of this movie. I did not, therefore, start out hating Mr. Moore. I felt he was a talented film-maker with an ideological axe to grind. And that's fine.

I started hating him when, in the immediate wake of 9/11, he pondered why it had happened. You see, in Moore's world, this was a direct result of the Bush administration's refusal to support the Kyoto Treaty. He wondered why the terrorists (freedom-fighters?) would attack New York, since that state went for Gore, and most of the murdered were likely Democrats.

Moore further sickened me when he predicted massive gains for the Democrats in the 2002 Congressional elections, and then erased his comments from his Web site after it became clear this was not to be the result. That is clearly an example of intellectual dishonesty in the extreme.

Then there was the fiasco when he turned his award-acceptance speech for Bowling For Columbine into a semi-lucid rant against Bush. What a pretentious prick! Did most viewers tune in to hear a political speech? No. So why subject them to it?

But the final icing on the cake of my contempt has to be the above-linked comments he so recently made. This guy is wishing for more American deaths in Iraq. This guy is hoping we fail there.

I wouldn't piss on a guy like Michael Moore if he were on fire.

But Mr. Moore isn't the problem, you see. The problem is that millions of people buy his books. Millions of people watch his movies. Millions of people think this fat, fat, FAT pile of shit is a fucking modern-day sage.

That's the problem.

There is a 5th column in the US today. It is comprised of the terrorists, and their supporters on the Left. (Not all Leftists agree with Moore. Few do. But enough do that it should scare us all.)

Will Nader renounce Moore's likely endorsement in 2004? Or does Nader think this is the kind of thing a responsible American thinks?

Jeesh RJ. So harsh. I take Moore like I take Limbaugh. With a grain of salt and tequila. He is a humorist (albeit a little dark at times). Regardless of your political view - the guy is funny. Kinda like Sharky. You don't have to agree with his politics to enjoy it.

BB, I find nothing funny about wishing more US troops die.

Yeah, the guy has a good sense of humor. But the example I cited was not very fucking humorous.

Jeesh brother. I'm certain that whatever he said his tongue was in his cheek. I certainly don't subscribe to all of Mr. Moore' views and I went thru your source several times but I can't find any quote that says Moore wants anybody to die. The only quote that I can find anywhere close to the subject is:

"I'm sorry, but the majority of Americans supported this war once it began and, sadly, that majority must now sacrifice their children until enough blood has been let that maybe -- just maybe -- God and the Iraqi people will forgive us in the end."
That certainly doesn't sound anything like what you are alleging. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you think Mike Moore is anti-American, you just don't get it. Criticize him all you want -- often you will be justified in doing so -- but to call him anti-America is just plain stupid. Anti-Bush does not necessarily mean anti-America. In fact, to many of us, anti-Bush means pro-America.

Humorist? Maybe in his past life. In NO WAY is Moore saying all his hot-air BS with "tongue in cheek." You are truly disallusioned if you believe that. He is a spreader of an exponential amnount of spin that, I believe, does hurt all sides of politics.

    Wow,

Mr Pot, I'd like to introduce you to Mr Kettle.

Where on earth does Moore "wish for more Americans to die ?" And it may shock you to learn that millions and millions of people don't regard Americans as the great white hope come to save them, but instead as an integral part of the problem. But I'm sure you won't see that.

It's tragic that lives are being lost, but where are your postings about Iraqi lives, or don't they count ?

I'm repressing a huge amount of anger to try and ensure this doesn't descend into a typical internet flamewar. Why can't you people actually try and think through the issues, and not let your own ideologies prevail. You may be surprised to realise that you're not always right.

Michael Moore's sole purpose is to spread anti-Americanism abroad. His books are routine best-sellers in England and in translated copies across Europe. And, since no-one there ever gets the choice of a conservative viewpoint - go into any English bookshop, head to the Politics section, and you'll see what I mean - Moore's words are taken as dogma. BB has a point about taking him as seriously as Rush Limbaugh (though I would have prefered to say Michael Savage), but still ... RJ is not wrong to call Moore out for an extreme left nutbag with a severe ideological axe to grind. He makes millions across the world to make America look bad.

Imagine! The man who made Bowling For Columbine going and making a political comment when accepting an award for said film. Imagine that!

I just love how Michael Moore gives US Fascists apoplexy. His worst crime apparently is that he is successful and rich -- that is supposed to be reserved for the cabal only.

RJ, you should be celebrating Michael Moore because he provides you with the grounds to conduct your own New Civil War. Great excuse for outrage, and hopefully gives you a stroke, or the cancer, since hate builds up like that, the body can only take so much fear and evil.

Why is the US Fascist movement so fixated on fear and terror? What are you afraid of?

Apparently rich, fat, badly dressed funnymen. Senator John Blutarsky is your worst nightmare.

JB: He is a spreader of an exponential amnount of spin that, I believe, does hurt all sides of politics.

"Exponential" doesn't describe a quantity, number, or "amnount". It describes a specific relationship between sets of data; it is usually used to indicate how the values of a function change over it's domain. Please stop using that word, you're ruining it for the rest of us.

"Rich" bothering an American? I've only see that in the extreme left .Really extreme.

Man, I get this feeling sometimes, like there's hungry wolves, salivating, outside my door.

I gotta say something, and forever hold my peace.

All politics aside...why would anyone want to hang around Americans, who hold them in contempt? Seriously.

SOme of this here is funny, makes me laugh in spite of myself. And you appear friendly, but next thing I know, you are speaking hatred in your heart.

The USDA apparently recommends replacing the foil in your helmet every three months because micro-tears will reduce the efficacy of the device. You should do it at the same time you replace the box of baking soda in your fridge.

If you hear someone say "death to america", put two boxes of baking soda in your fridge to absorb the fear and terror.

RJ, I just read the Moore text and agree 100%.

    He was spot on.

Re: "...Not all Leftists agree with Moore. Few do. But enough do that it should scare us all."

    Stay scared, RJ.

That's currently the most patriotic thing you can do in Bush's Kingdom of Fear. Well, that -- and to continue shopping.

If we don't shop, the other side's terrorists win, after all.

If Moore scares people, I pray he keeps it going.

... pssst ... don't tell the US Fascist Party apparatchiks, but Michael Moore has given us a secret handshake. All we (the citizens of the free world) have to do is laugh whenever we see the Glorious Leader on the televisor device.

Of course we have to laugh to keep from crying.

    Apr 18, 2004 at 5:08 pm

So if I read the above correctly, RJ, you are against rich, successful citizens and in favour of unprovoked attacks of foreign civilains. So it's not evil you're against, but the degree of evil.

That's the way much of the right-wing has always struck me. Saddam's atrocities weren't a problem when he was the US's boy and gladhanding Rummy Rumsfeld back in the '80s. Now, Saddam is THE FACE OF ALL EVIL. It's all about degrees and what/who is convenient to them at any given time.

Saddam is a bad guy, no doubt. So is Dubya Bush.

The more I see this fascist crap, the more I'm grateful I have a Canadian passport (of course since most USAians don't have a passport, the point is sort of moot).

I look forward to the day when my US passport -- yes, I have one -- is exchanged for a Canadian one. And the fascist crap makes me even more impatient for what will be a glorious day.

My previous comments had nothing to do with politics, or the war in Iraq, WHICH I WAS AGAINST.With some people, the malice I feel coming from them, drowns out anything they might have to say.

I look forward to seeing all the anti-American Leftists fleeing to Canada, like the draft-dodgers of the Vietnam era.

What's stopping you? Please move. Soon. You won't be missed by the remaining 99%.

  • 23 - Jim Carruthers

    Apr 18, 2004 at 11:35 pm

Uhm, the ragged-ass draft-dodgers have already started fleeing across our border. We don't really want them since they are somewhat useless.

Please keep your refuse to yourself.

  • 24 - Jim Carruthers

    Apr 18, 2004 at 11:43 pm

Y'know, RJ, if you really stuck to your fascist principles, you'd set up a concentration camp for those who don't want to be sent to Iraq for slave labour.

But then, sticking to principles isn't what the "Murrican Fascist Party is all about.

By the way you ignorant 7-11 habitue, I don't live in that forsaken bit of the North American continent which resides betwixt Canada and Mexico.

An ignorant tool or a 'Murrican? hard to tell.
