Despite Kanye West ripping George Bush and many Republicans claiming they were closing their wallets, he still managed to raise 30 million dollars for Katrina victims.
Kanye West ripped into George Bush recently at a charity fundraiser for hurricane Katrina on NBC --essentially calling him a racist. Despite many Republicans claiming they were closing their wallets after the remark, he still managed to raise 30 million dollars for Katrina victims.…

Let's see, George Bush - more blacks and hispanics in the cabinet than any other President. More money to the African AIDS epidemic than any other administration - key point in his State of the Nation speech. Higher African American home ownership than at any time in the history of the United States.
But he doesn't care about black people?
Can you folks be honest and realize that the Governor of LA screwed up... Bush didn't do this. He didn't conjure up a Hurricane and he didn't deliberately withold aid afterwards.

Stereotype FTW!!!!!
All of you who opt to generalize what a "Republican" is or what they stand for are just as guilty as those who stereotype "Black America". I was in Biloxi last Thursday, and shits bad. My company donated building materials to help get a local Lowes up and running so their insurance company would let them open the doors to sell to local contractors. I couldn't make it to N.O. proper, but if MS is an indicator then...damn.
Maybe the gov't wasn't as proactive as they should've been, but really, who was prepared for an incident of this magnitude? You?
And how very good of us to "Monday Morning QB" the relief effort. With every military base and landing strip in the gulf coast area in lousy shape, I'd imagine it was logistical nightmare for FEMA, State, and local anything to get any aid moving any quicker than it did.
As far as your man West and his comment about the shooting? Are you serious? Really, who is dumb enough to open fire at any DoD assest. Your kiddiing me? You open fire @ a USCG or Army Medivac, and don't expect to get raked with gunfire? I mean these guys are going to shoot back, and damnit, they're bloody good at it. What were those poor bastards thinking?

Critical opinions contribute ZERO to the current situation. Get out your checkbook, or put on your workboots and hit the road. These people need help, so get off the "Media-us vs.them-it's all about race-Bush hates Blacks" bandwagon and lend a hand, and get with the program. Your either part of the problem or part of the soloution, pick one.

The strategy of the Democrat party is to give the poor minorities enough to make them able to eat (welfare) but not to give them enough to rise out of poverty. This is because as long as they are in poverty they will need the Democratic Party and continue to vote for them.
This is also the same strategy that Mao, Lenin, Castro and Chavez have used to gain complete control over their governments. They got support of the poor majority and got the power which led to burning the constitution and all of the people's rights. The poor stayed poor, but the rich also became poor and the government became amazingly rich.
Now the only thing that seperates the dems and the commies are that in commie countries the poor were the majority. Now all that we need here is a few million people to become poor and the democrats can take the Senate, Supreme Court, Presidency, Governorships and Mayorships which would eventually lead to a single party state.

He's only doing what Bob Dylan did as a young man. His heart was torn open by what he was seeing and he spoke from his gut. He said exactly what other black Americans deeply feel is true.
He said George Bush doesn't really care about black people. I'd say Bush cares about them a little less than this young black man.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff had to actually post guards to prevent FEMA from cutting his only communications lines for a second time. FEMA turned back trucks full of supplies sent for those trapped in the Superdome. Meanwhile, Chertoff and Brown go on the air and spoke of what an excellent job their "team" was doing. This is what drove local La. officials over the edge.
Bush could have stepped in. He had the power. He let his unqualified cronies continue to mismanage the event. Not that he had the brainpower himself to handle it, but he had those around him who could have IF he'd only made a move.
Obviously black people might just get a feeling that Bush doesn't care about them. So do many non-blacks too. Too bad they weren't all children of oil execs. They'd have been saved after day one.
Heads should roll alright.

So, Balletshooz. Are you living in the same world as the rest of us or some weird though the lookingglass kind of world?
>>clinton to black person - "i love you for who you are and what you can do"<<
Or perhaps I love you because you'll stay in your place and never question orders.
>>bush to black person - "you are a lowlife, a refugee camp is a step up for you"
see why republicans have a race problem?<<
Did you actually READ Barbara Bush's quote? I guess not. What she was saying is that the refugees appreciated the hospitality of Texans, and she implied that once they got here they realized that if they stayed in Texas they could get jobs and have the decent lives that being stuck in New Orleans under the thumbs of the democrat machine had denied them.

I am sick and tired of these so-called "political activists" in Hollywood putting their 2 cents in where it doesn't belong! Does America really care what some rapper's political views are? They're entertainers not political anaylsts...you don't see Ann Coulter or Chris Matthews trying to cut a rap album do you? Doesn't anyone realize these people have just lost everything they own, they're starving, jobless...innocent women are getting raped and killed out there??!! Enough political mumbo-jumbo...save that crap for the next election! You people call what Kanye did brave??? Bullshit, he's just some ignorant publicity whore who's joined the rat pack of Hollywood Bush-bashers!

My whole take on the situation is this. I myself am a war vet. I've done two tours of Iraq, one of Afghanistan, and one of Kosovo and I'm only 25 and yes proud to admit I'm black. When I first entered the service you couldn't tell me there was anything my country does that's wrong but over my 7 years in service I saw a lot of stuff that I know isn't right and I can't help but to wonder what if we weren't investing all that money in war campaigns making other countries lives miserable and maybe put that money into FEMA? Maybe then this issue as to where the money is going to come from wouldn't be raised and all you blind people who try to make Kanye out to be a "big mouth" wouldn't have never had to hear him say anything in the first place? There's only a few people in hip-hop that I can say I think makes a difference in this world not because they're sick on the mic but because the just tell the truth and Kanye's one of them so for him to all of you that don't like what he said I'll say it for him you all can kiss my ass. And also, even though the average white American won't admit it you have to wonder if this was to have happened in West Virginia where the population is mostly white how long would the evacuation have taken to begin? I know nobody wants to be portrayed as a "white devil" but black people in America have always been treated as inferior, first as slaves and even afterwards with employment opportunities, housing, education, and last but not least by the systems such as welfare that control people and keep them in the same state of mind where they don't want to become something more. What's right is right and unfortunate for a lot of racist white people what's wrong is wrong. And I could go on all day about the injustice of not just us but even the injustice of the American Indian, Hispanics, Asians, or anyone else that's non-white even to include the Italians but I'm not because what's obvious doesn't even have to be told it's already known.
49 - Luke
"They believe it is mainly African-American’s inherent inferiority that keeps them down. They believe that their policies do nothing to harm African-Americans, but it is a chronic laziness and a tendency of young black males to abandon their families. They make no acknowledgment of the fact that whites held blacks down for hundreds of years and that blacks have never, as a culture, been allowed to climb out of that hole."
---------------------------------------
If I'm the government, and I have to see my people as being equal under the law regardless of what they look like, then I'm in a difficult position when people seperate themselves into groups and then demand special treatment, and because they demand to be treated in the context that each group is seperate with it's own culture, it's own problems, and it's own special needs, I have no other option but to define each group by these terms, if the group is mostly poor, then I must define this group as poor, if the group has a high rate of crime then I must define the group as having a tendency towards crime, and then I have to deal with those problems. But if people were just people, then I'd just add the majority of that groups poor, to the poor from other groups, and deal with the larger problem of poverty, but with america's race politics, it's impossible for people to just be people, why is a poor black family's situation any different from a poor white family's situation? They're both poor. Is the white family's ability to get out of poverty any different from a black family's ability to get out of poverty? Is the government any more responsible for black poverty than white poverty?
Does the government owe something the decendants of victims who're dead? Is the government responsible for crimes committed by people who died long ago? Is a white family, who's ancestors were not slaves, 100% reponsible for being poor? While a black family can never be responsible for being poor, because their ancestors were slaves. Just please tell me, what the hell has happened to personal accountability?
On the surface it may seem obvious that George Bush doesn't care about black people, i'd say it's not in his nature to care more about them than anybody else, look at it this way, 'you're black, and you're poor, but mainly you're poor, and it's no ones problem but your own how you get out of that situation, we'll assist you no more and no less than we would for any other citizen of this country, regardles of whether they be black white yellow red brown or green'
This is how the liberals think 'you're black, and you're poor, but mainly you're black, and all of your disadvantages stem from that one fact, you are powerless to overcome those disadvantages without our assistance, because you can never succeed in your struggle towards prosperity by the power of your own will and determination, because everyone who is not us is keeping you down, you can never be held responsible for the short-comings of your own life'

As I read the initial comments on this site, I was appalled at what I saw. Talk about dividing America... What Kanye West spoke of is what Kanye fells as an African-American male. As an educated African-American Mississippian, I can not find fault with many of his words. In order to understand it, you have to live it. Many majority race Americans find it hard to understand what minorities go through because they have never been through it. I have a juris doctor degree from an esteemed university, and still find that the color of your skin outweighs everything else.
While living in the capitol city of a state hit hard by Katrina, it really saddened my heart to see my state's coastline completely obliterated by the storm. 28 miles of coast line in Mississippi GONE!!! "Sorry people, but help is still on its way!" That was a full week ago. Don't know why it has taken so long, but if it takes a spontaneous blurb by West to wake up America to understand our trauma and pain, then so be it. It never ceases to amaze me of how much easier it is for people to sit and criticize when they do not understand at all! CNN and FOXNEWS cannot accurately tell of the plight of Mississippi and Lousiana. I have seen it all my life, and now the world gets a glimpse, a slanted glimpse, and wishes to try to analyze. Until you can see and understand this for yourself, live it and breathe it like I do, as an African-American Mississippian, I would ask that you respect those actually going through this tough time and think before you write...
52 - steve
As a doctoral, black, female mississippian...you must have voted conservative. you must have noticed that the liberal stronghold in states such as mississipi keep the poor living in the lifestyle they are in.
conservatives praise do gooders...people who try to better themselves. people who do not burden the government for living expenses most americans earn.
also, if you are indeed a doctor...I am sure you wouldnt like to give 35-45% of your check away...from your hard earned pay. you must support tax cuts... there is no way you would have voted liberal. you seem intelligent.

I concur with those who have said that if Kanye made you not want to give then you didn't want to give anyway. I only know of one other rapper who would have had the balls to say what Kanye said and that was Tupac.

In the imortal words of Tupac updated by me:
How can we be free
Sometimes I wonder about your race
Because you must be blind as hell
2 think we live in equality while my people rot in jail
where the shores of the Gulf
are full of Afrikan corpses
Or some poor brothers
dying in the Armed Forces
This so called "Home of the Brave"
As if they forgot they once had slaves.
Why wasn't anybody backing us up!
Y'all saw the crooked Government jacking shit up
Now I bet some punk will say I'm racist
Look at your HIStory it's in the pages
So I give a damn what you think of me
I see bodies down in New Orleans.

I agree with KanYe. Everything shown on the news of the after math has white people going though a house that was filled 4ft with water. They are going through their property with their family (because they were rescued). Every minority family I see on television is pleading for someone to either look for/or rescue their family. The only way they are being able to make the request is because they swam to higher ground, not because they were rescued. While we have troops overseas (and not locating Osama) we need to have more troops looking for and caring about what the fuck is going on in our own country.
60 - Makavelli
Got killed? So did Malcom, Martin, Medger..., we could go on and on but what's your point. If you notice Kanye doesn't talk about Thug life so he is going about it a different sparked by that martyr we call TUPAC or Makaveli. And yes he himself was more than just an acronym for those who loved him we understand the metaphorical meaning behind the name change talk to me some day and I'll explain!
P.S. As much as Tupac talked about Thug Life he talked about change Thug Life was just how he got the attention of those he needed to reach.
61 - steve
I am sure tupac would have been as outspoken as west. NBC should have known better than to put someone on stage who believes that the government created AIDS to wipe out black people. shame on NBC.
Kanye West should keep his "MOUF" shut. He is a fake. He is a millionare who was opportunistic in using airtime to help people for his political agenda instead. he doesnt care about black people either.
I could almost picture him "rollin out" in his gas guzzling H2..26 inch "spinners" and the whole nine yards...chillin like a new orleans villan. he could rape and pillage with the others...that would be the GANGSTA thing to do, wouldnt it?
If Kanye doesn't like it here...or his wallet isnt big enough for his voice to be heard...he should move to france with all the other commies.

It really irks me to hear people on here pointing fingers for political gain, especially in the midst of America's most deadly natural disaster. Apparently no one remembers how we pulled together,as a nation, in the "good old days" and faced adversity arm in arm. It's high time to stop the name calling and attempts to cast blame on everyone else.
Quit whining and help these Americans who desperately need our immediate unconditional help. I'm sick of the racial slurs on both sides.
63 - steve
kanye west opened a can of worms, im saying my piece to close it.
maybe black folk will learn to respect bush after he repairs the south. maybe they will see the leader who has been there the last four and a half years.
sadly, I find this highly unlikely. time will tell.
64 - Makavelli
Steve at first I thought you were somewhat intelligent I mean you knowing about the Prince and all but then you kept talking. They say let a fool talk enough he will show his worth. At first you tell someone to get their GED then you blast Kanye for being wealthy stop contradicting yourself do you want us broke and dumb or maybe rich and not speak. Yeah you really want equality.
65 - steve aka the NOTORIOUS G.O.P
for your information makavelli, I am personally upset that Kanye West is using this natural disaster to promote his new album, as well as his political agenda. Its sad, but true. I didnt even know who the man was before his ill-planned rant on NBC. and by "ill" I dont mean talented. I mean it as in a lack of planning.
I suggested to the other blogger to at least attempt to speak the english language. I did not understand the ebonics lingo he was typing. (look back, if you must) so, I told him to go and get his Good Enough Diploma.
As far as Kanye West goes. All I ask of you is to question is legitimacy. He is a multi-millionare who spews rancid lyrics about a lifestyle he no longer lives. in his lyrics...the man suggested that the government is involved in a conspiracy to kill black people. how could you not call this man a racist? he is absurd!
Just because I am conservative...it doesnt mean I am one for inequality. I hope you recognize that. I treat every man as my equal. If I happen to disagree with them, so be it.
I took time with this post, hopefully clarifying myself. Hope you read it.

PLEASE READ THIS
There will never be change until we understand each others pain. I wish we could switch bodies if only for a day so we could understand each other better but we can't. As a black man I can attest to seeing first hand the invisible yet fortified barriers that we as a people face everyday. We each have a responsibility as human beings to make sure that we treat each other equally, but I have a better chance of sprouting wings and flying through the sky unfortunately in our present state. I wish we as humans would not have to debate back and forth over a blog about the opinion of one man. We have a long way to go before there will be change and each of us has to do his or her part so that we can evolve and get a better grasp of what should be done to help us all move forward. All of you can say what you want, but how do you truly feel inside in regard to race being an issue in this society. If your black (human) how many times have you checked yourself and made the steps to rise above the walls that are set in front of you obviously we know that they are there at times, and I know it SUCKS and in a perfect world it would not be that way but try harder adversity has made us stronger and stronger and it will continue to as long as we exist. I’m nowhere close to were I want to be in life but I will make it no matter what or who stands before me. Unfortunately that’s life; understand the reason that some not all so called white people (other fellow humans) treat minorities like they are inferior. And if you are white (human), how many times have you tried to genuinely understand were the feelings that Black Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics Americans, etc...(your fellow humans) are coming from. The people who really control society are happy that we quarrel back and forth so that we over look the real issues that we need to deal with to make this world a better place for us all. I guarantee the top 5% aren’t concerned with the issues we are faced with globally unless it increases their power. We all need to stop acting like many of the issues stated in the previously writings and many more don’t exist and deal with them with love and understanding first before having an opinion based on you wanting to have the perfect answer to the current issue of today. Wake up people it's time for us all to be accountable for what we do and how we feel and how it affects the people around us and those we will never meet.
Each one Teach One!
WE ARE ONE!

Steve or the notorious G.O.P.,I want to get back with you on a few misguided statements you made. You said this a few times at first you said, “NBC let…..someone on stage who believes that the government created AIDS to wipe out black people….” The second time you said, “the man suggested that the government is involved in a conspiracy to kill black people. how could you not call this man a racist? he is absurd!”
Well I'll tell you how and don't just turn me off please follow. I always say do your research before you speak even if you don’t believe Kanye’s conclusions if you researched you would understand the landscape from which his conclusions were drawn. One you talk as if the government is above spreading diseases in the Black Community. Check your HIStory, can you say Tuskegee 1932 " 1972?
The Tuskegee study of untreated syphilis in the Negro male is the longest no therapeutic experiment on human beings in medical history. The strategies used to recruit and retain participants were quite similar to those being advocated for HIV/AIDS prevention programs today.
So don’t get all mighty and think your government is above the bullshit! You don’t have to agree but don’t knock Kanye for what he believes especially when HIStory is on his side. Has the government ever compensated those victims for that? That’s a real question I really don’t know but the point I’m making is Kanye’s statements in his lyrics aren’t coming from some misguided rich guy it’s supported by your governments HIStory.

David Gregory Story
The activist readily acknowledged that he had referred to Republicans as "white racist thugs" and called the United States "the most dishonest, ungodly, unspiritual nation that ever existed in the history of the planet."
But, when Gregory hesitated in his responses, Hannity turned to Morano for confirmation.
"You don't have to confirm what I said," Gregory charged. "I've already said it. So I don't need no white boy to come on and say yes, he said it."
Surprised by Gregory's reply, Hannity repeated, "No white boy? No white boy?" and asked Gregory if he wanted to apologize to Morano for calling him a racially charged term.
