Judge wants critics silenced

From the Ass. Press:

A federal judge whose husband and mother were slain by a disgruntled litigant urged Congress on Wednesday to help bring an end to "truly dangerous" verbal attacks on judges that might lead to violent action.

Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow said one way lawmakers could protect judges would be to condemn judge-bashing remarks by commentators and colleagues...

In recent months, several Republican members of Congress have lashed out at judges involved in the Terri Schiavo case and others. Schiavo, a brain-damaged Florida woman, died after her feeding tube was removed, her parents' legal challenges unsuccessful.

So if I understand this correctly, to solve the problem of judges being accused of running the country like their own little dictatorship, Judge Lefkow wants those saying such things silenced. I have a better suggestion. If you want people to stop accusing you of acting like a tyrant, why not simply stop acting like a tyrant. Not calling for your critics to be silenced would be a really good start.

The nutcase that murdered Lefkow's family did so because he disagreed with decision she, specifically had made, not because other people had criticized judicial activism.

What this shows is that someone who judges us -- wants to deny us our right to what should be "protected speech".

Has this judge read the First Amendment?
