Melvin,
You're my kind of guy. You understand how nasty reality can be, and apparently you understand some of the choices that face us.
When I first started to become a believer in Hashem, as opposed to the bagel and lox Jew I had been all my life, I came to understand that the day would come when this nation would be too weak to stand up militarily to its enemies. Thew leader who would succeed in that day would be a believer, like me, with the courage to call upon the help of G-d, rather than the help of man.
I am not at liberty to discuss the technical reasons that our military is failing. The reasons were told to me in confidence by another in uniform, and I'll keep his confidences.
But no matter how you cut the corned beef, we are being tested by G-d for our faithfulness. We will have to put trust in Him first, and trust in our military second. This is punishment for spitting at the victory He gave us forty years ago. The crows are coming home to roost.
It didn't have to be like this.

There is no avoiding this conflict; Israel is stuck in it, either out of bad leadership or misfortune.
However, it is unfair to be "anti-Israel"; there are people living there, you can't just wish them away, and you can't drive them away.
It is fine to criticize or even hate the current Israeli government, but labeling all Israelis as "bad Jews" and "embarrassments" is simpleminded, and dare I say, idiotic.
