Unfortunately, this was not propaganda or lies. A young woman and young man were gang-raped, and for appealing the wrongful sentence of the courts they were both sentenced to six months jail and 200 lashes. The rapists deserved to be castrated - without medicine - and in public, so that all their clans could see what miserable shits they were. That has not happened, so the assholes will eventually rape again.
Rape in the Arab world is not really a crime - a woman losing honor is for being raped is. Honor killings in Jordan or the Arab controlled parts of Israel happen every day. That's a fact that you may not want to admit, but a fact that stands as true.
That is Arab culture for you. I know it's your life, and you live it, but I wouldn't be too proud of how Arab culture treats women.
