While I agree that Hizzoner is now exactly where he belongs, I am not giddy with glee over the news. He'll likely access his Get Out of Jail card tomorrow, and continue on his merry way to thumb his nose at the law once again. I heard one of his attorneys on the radio today, proclaiming that they can't prosecute (or persecute) Kilpatrick for violating the conditions of his bond if others in the state on similar bonds violate theirs. (I believe that's akin to running a stop sign if no one is looking.) Being propped up by this kind of skewed logic goes a long way to explain why no one has tamed Kilpatrick's bad attitude.
In the meantime, putting the Mayor in the slammer has only served to polarize the already unstable region that is Southeastern Michigan, and has again drawn the unfortunate racial line squarely down the center of 8 Mile Road. I've noticed in newspaper editorials, as well as those online, that citizens north and west of Detroit's border are clamoring for something to be done soon, while some inside the city limits handily flip the race card out and bemoan the fact that "whitey" wants to get their guy.
There is no arguing with those still defending a guy who lies, cheats and steals. It's even harder when half of the public is expected to swallow lame excuses for continuing bad behavior, and the other half must suffer through enormous arrogance and unrepentance that only hurts the residents of Detroit.
For those looking for a simple resolution, there is none. Unless he does the right thing and resigns, the Kwame Drama is destined to get much worse before it gets better, and at the expense of the entire state.

Oh, this has to be a joke:
"When he was processed at the jail, the mayor was wearing a shiny gray suit with matching vest and a French-cuffed shirt with "Mayor" embroidered on the sleeves."

Sounds like he's stuck in the Puff Daddy and Ma$e era.

Joanne,
When this fool of a mayor finally sleeps with the wrong woman, "justice" will grind his pecker exceedingly small....
Till then, you are stuck with this embarrassment.
