Why don't I feel rage over this latest so-called sex and drugs scandal concerning the nation's top Evangelical leader? The President of the National Association of Evangelicals has been exposed as a man who allegedly cheats on his wife and family, employs a male prostitute, uses illegal drugs, and generally lives a life of complete hypocrisy.
As was the case with Foley, we're already on a roller coaster of diversion. Haggard stands accused by a male prostitute. He denies the allegations but then resigns quickly. And within hours, one of Haggard's associates tells the press the Evangelical leader is partly guilty of some of the accusations.
Perhaps this is just a publicity stunt for the new flick, Deja Vu.
But why don't I feel rage? At the very least, I should be feeling snarky. But I'm not. Partly, I suspect, it's burnout. Another hypocrite among the Christian and Republican conservatives. Yawn.
The whole lot of them are obvious frauds and it has been a long-standing mystery why anyone would think otherwise. A true Christian minister would live humbly and dedicate his life to charity and compassion, not live in great splendor, meddle in the politics of the nation, and crusade for intolerance. It's a no brainer. I suppose, as is usually the case, the best place to hide the truth is in the clear and bright light of day — like mega-churches of pure glass.
A true conservative would fight for less government, less government spending, and he or she would be a passionate defender of the Constitution. Rather, neo-Conservatives have nearly bankrupted and crippled this nation with insane spending policies and massive government meddling in our lives that must be the envy of petty dictators everywhere. Furthermore, these neo-conservatives relentlessly stomp on the Constitution as if it were little more than an old doormat.
The real surprise is the alleged surprise the media and the American public express when one of these frauds is exposed for what he so obviously is and has been all along. So rage seems a waste of time and energy and certainly not the right word to describe how we should be feeling. Perhaps disgust is a better word; not with the frauds, but rather with the tens of millions of Americans who've allowed themselves to be hoodwinked by these frauds.

Good piece. IMO what it's really about, in the end,is the willful stupidity, ignorance, gullibility, & blindness of the tens of millions who give credibility, loyalty, & money to these vultures. They are willing victims, at the least, flocking to be fleeced. How can anybody save someone from themselves when they are bound & determined to be so deliberately stupid & assinine? If they suffer heartbreak, so be it; a small price to pay for a dose of reality and a wakeup call to stop being such a fool. The really unfortunate thing is that most of them STILL won't learn anything, and never will. To stupid to live, I guess. Pity they contribute so largely to the gene pool & pass on their idiocy.

Is the author ignoring reality and purposely leaving out the real story! Is there a trend developing that is building a much larger and long-term case against homosexuals? Ironically it’s the Gays and those on the Left that may be slowly proving the case that gays, due to the genetics and lifestyles may have serious moral and ethical issues.. NOT related to their sexual preference...here are some disturbing facts
1. Foley - sexual predator - GAY
2. McGreevy - appoints his unqualified boyfriend to a homeland security position - resigns in disgrace -writes a book detailing his "gloryhole" adventures. Becomes a star and poster boy for the gay community
3. Pedophile Catholic Priests - overwhelmingly are 99.9% GAY Pedophiles. Again Gays in positions of power abusing it!
4. Recent NJ headlines - More than 100 men have been charged with lewdness or sexual activity in South Mountain Reservation as part of a 15-month crackdown on gay trysts in the park, authorities said yesterday - this according to the papers is happening all over the state -ALL GAY MEN having anonymous unprotected sex- In the era of AIDS very responsible behavior. Where are the heterosexual sex parks??? They don’t exist!
So is the story about a lying Christian minister? NO NOT AT ALL! It’s really part of a disturbing trend of the growing number of morally bankrupt gays in positions of power and their denigration of society. I am not saying that all gays are either morally or ethically challenged. But based upon the numbers and the silence of the gay community one could only assume that these are the accepted norms of the majority.
This is not about ones sexual preference its about ones ethical and moral behavior to do the right thing. Based upon the current trend it may paint a sorry picture for gays and their efforts to be accepted as equals in society.

JustOneMan: The kind of ignorance, dishonety and bigotry represented by your comments is an embarrassment to our nation. Go and do your homework. Check the statistics on heterosexual men: incest, sexual exploitation of under-age girls by adult men, 200,000 underage pregnancies last year sired by adult men, the incidence of adultery, and congressional sex scandals over the years involving heterosexuals. Your statements are outrageous in their dishonesty and ignorance. By the way, the majority of sex scandals involving Catholic priest concern girls and women. Again, use your brain and do some research before you spout harmful bigotry.
4 - JustOneMan
"By the way, the majority of sex scandals involving Catholic priest concern girls and women." Please provide data to support this.
Obvious you had to do the typical left wing "homophobic" rant. You didnt read my comments. In fact you have actually proven my point. Rather than rightfully speak up and challenge Gays to speak up against this non-sexual amoral and unethical behaviour you attack those that shine a mirror to their actions.
Why are Gays not speeaking up against other gays who are hurting the efforts to be accepted?
5 - Richard Rothstein
I have little patience for fools, but I will respond this one last time. If you engaged your brain you'd realize that every one of these "outed" Republicans and Evangelists have been outed by the gay community as hypocrites. There's a massive campaign underway in the gay community to do this. Your ignorance of this is simply exhausting.
6 - Clavos
If you engaged your brain you'd realize that every one of these "outed" Republicans and Evangelists have been outed by the gay community as hypocrites.
Ostensibly.
Given the timing of these outings, methinks the greater intent by the LGBTs is to embarrass the Republican Party and lose it votes.
7 - Richard Rothstein
Duh. Of course. And why not? It's not like all this corruption and abuse is untrue. When would be a good time to tell voters about it?
8 - Bliffle
The obvious corruption of the christianists that dominate our society is caused by the oldest of human vices, vanity and greed, but the self-righteous twits will try to blame the gays, as usual. Well, what you gonna do when you don't have commies to kick around anymore?
9 - Dave Nalle
Given the timing of these outings, methinks the greater intent by the LGBTs is to embarrass the Republican Party and lose it votes.
The irony of this being that they are forcing the GOP to come to terms with the fact that it is THE gay party, and as these gay republicans are outed the party is going to have to come to terms with that fact and make accomodations to keep some of their most productive and successful members. As I've written before, it's time for gay republicans to start outing themselves and living openly.
The problem with Haggard is not that he's gay and in the GOP. The GOP can handle his sexual orientation. The problem is his religious hypocrisy, adultery and drug use.
Let's keep the gays in the GOP and get rid of the hypocrites and religious nuts.
Dave

Duh. Of course. And why not? It's not like all this corruption and abuse is untrue. When would be a good time to tell voters about it?
Then you should have put it that way in your comment, instead of trying to make the outings sound noble by talking about exposing hypocrisy.
They're not about hypocrisy; they're about politics, and there's nothing noble about politics.
11 - Dave Nalle
Good point, Clavos. But it wouldn't be somethign which could be used as political ammunition if gay republicans just came out and lived honestly. And if they did we might luck out and see the evangelicals forced out of the party.
Dave

Good point, Clavos. But it wouldn't be somethign which could be used as political ammunition if gay republicans just came out and lived honestly.
You hit the nail on the head. The problem isn't "morally bankrupt gays" - it's that people are forced to lie about who they really are. This is self destructive and can lead to the type of behavior we're talking about.
Look at Mark Foley, McGreevy, the Catholic priests, probably Haggard - these guys were living a lie and they felt the need to make bad choices based on that lie. I'm sure a majority of the men in the park are probably "straight" in their day-to-day lives. What if Catholic priests could marry and homosexuality was acknowledged as just another lifestyle? Do you think that as many priests would have felt the need to prey on young people in the church? I don't think so.
There are bad people in the world - gay, straight, otherwise - and they do bad things. There are also people who, through their shame and self-loathing make bad choices and victimize others (victims, friends, family). If America were more accepting of everyone we'd just be hearing about the usual cheating spouses.

"There's a massive campaign underway in the gay community to do this. Your ignorance of this is simply exhausting."
Gee the gay community will "out gays" who want to keep their sex lives private - LIKE MOST "NORMAL" AMERICANS! So its my fault that thye gays that are outed just happened to be cheats, crooks and depraved individuals...agian rather than hear my point that "its not the whole gay community" the issues is that the queers that you guys keep outing are all a bunch of ethically challenged individuals! No good public relations for people who want to be treated as equals...

It seems to me that these outings are showing the hypocrisy of those who vociferously scream against homosexuals, while being in the closet themselves.
That would be inherent point. That the ones being so outed have shown to be corrupt liars as well is not a product of their being gay, but of their willingness to lie and demonize for their own political and greedy roles.
I think Dave has it about right here, far better for people to openly be who they are, and stand up for it. Working to expose and expel the liars and hypocrites.
Then perhaps the Republican would get back on track in dealing with real issues and stop wasting the nation's time institutionalizing hatred and bigotry towards fellow citizens.

Many homosexual organizations and leaders not only admit to, but support, the sexual abuse of children by homosexuals.
An editorial in the San Francisco Sentinel,
a member of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalist’s Association, claimed that
The love between men and boys is at the foundation of homosexuality. For the gay community to imply that boy-love is not homosexual love is ridiculous. We must not be seduced into believing misinformation from the press and the government. Child molesting does occur, but there are also positive sexual relations. And we need to support the men and the boys in those relationships
There are hundreds more..please provide statistics and facts to justify your position.

It's not the GOP which is singling people out for hatred and bigotry. That's the role which the left has chosen to adopt in its quest to out these closeted gay Republicans. The only way for the GOP to fight it is to go one step farther and official accept their many gay members and encourage them to come out publicly. That will defuse the leftist hate machine.

Dave,
Forget about it the Left has already proven their bigotry...they only support their Gays, their Blacks, their Latinos and will destroy anyone who diagrees with them!

I know what the facts are and the only one that matters is the fact that after Tuesday, bigots will finally be on the road to oblivion.
As for your list of "facts", we both know that they are ridiculous and fraudulent, as does anyone reading who isn't a bigot.

Ladies and gentlemen of the Jury....I rest my case.
Gee...facts and the truth really do throw these left wing guys off! Not even an attempt to agree and call these thing vial acts...hmmmmm. I guess the silence means that you accept these behaviors as part of "your society". Another reason why gays may not deserve "equal rights" if they cant even disavow child rape and pedophilia as not being normal!
Richard I would expect that from Jet but not from you!
Really disgusting!

Ok, just one last message to JustOneBigot: Every study and stat you site is based on fabricated, biased or outright dishonest "research." It's all been spit out before by better bigots than you. Very tired stuff. And many of the "experts" you site have been repudiated by their own professions, others even kicked out of their associations. I won't waste my time fighting false premises, arguing with Mein Kampf or literature that comes out of the Ku Klux Klan or other fascist, racist or bigoted groups. As I said earlier, don't you have better things to do than pollute the internet with hate-mongering and ignorance?

Richard,
You sound foolish with your blanket denials - the sources are legit and accurate. In addition your antisemite inuendos are pathetic! Just because I disagree with a jewish homosexual makes me an anti-semite, KKK homophobe? Richard please stop with the "hate-mongering and ignorance".
Why is it so hard for homosexuals to admit that child molestation is wrong?
