Since Bush was a former Major League Baseball team owner, I am going to put this baseball terms. Three strikes and you're out W. It seems like W doesn't like to read reports that land on his desk. Or maybe he doesn't have time. Maybe he is just to busy planning his next vacation to Crawford to "clear brush" on his ranch, chilling in San Diego, riding his bike, playing dress-up on an aircraft carrier, or simply reading that book he just can't put down, My Pet Goat.
Maybe we just shouldn't expect, with all this on your plate W, for you to have time to read reports titled Bin Laden Determined To Strike In US. Or reports from that damn United Nations organization saying that Iraq didn't have any weapons of mass of destruction or had any connection to 9/11. Or reports from the Interior Department and others saying how you shouldn't specifically reduce the Army Corps of Engineers budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. Or those damn reports from scientists saying how the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting warmer and warmer and a storm like this is inevitable. Those are just those global warming wimps. All your oil buddies say those people are insane anyways. And maybe it was a bad idea to appoint a man, Michael Brown, as director of FEMA who had exactly zero experience in disaster management.
Well Bin Laden did strike inside the U.S. and killed over 2,500. Iraq really didn't have any weapons of mass or any connection to 9/11 and nearly 1,900 Americans have died for that cause. And now New Orleans, which looks like it will easily double the total of the previous two, is coming apart at the seams and people dying because you can't get them food and water. And now reports of cannibalism. But don't worry about that, most have a different skin color as you and weren't very likely to vote for you even before this. So roughly that is only about 10,000 Americans killed because you have other stuff to do that is more important than reading those long, boring reports.
By the way, how is the plan to deal with a future terrorist attack coming along? Oh wait, you have mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You'll get to that report at some other time.
That's my view from the left.
