If you like your democratic candidates painted as closeted homosexuals, lesbians, and Uncle Toms, have we got an election season for you!
I just love it when the AP News does a reality check and basically makes the right wing noise machine look even more stupid, than they already are. Once again, the right noise machine tried to make Barack Obama look bad and failed.…

But I can see that I am really not wanted here. this is why it took a whole 24 hours for my article to be approved.
Just to clarify any misconceptions you (or anyone else) might have, Chuck, we don't "approve" articles in the sense that we require them to conform to some editorial point of view, as Christopher has already pointed out with his big tent reference. As he's also pointed out, our volunteer editorial staff does its level best to get content published round the clock.
If you consider the incredibly mild response you got to this piece too hot to handle, I can only assume you haven't spent much time doing this sort of thing.
And no, writers here aren't allowed to disable comments.
27 - Dave Nalle
Let's be honest about this piece. If it took longer to be published than expected it was likely because of the lack of substance and the rather unimpressive content. Chuck makes a couple of good points, but the article isn't really developed the way it ought to be for maximum effectiveness.
What's most impressive about the article is that it doesn't read like it's written by the kind of egotistical primadonna which Chuck demonstrated himself to be in the comment section.
Had I seen the article before someone else got to it I would have sent it back for further development, which Chuck would probably have taken as political censorship.
Sorry to hear Chuck is leaving us. Like a lot of other writers he could have learned something here - and he has a lot ot learn.
Dave

There's a monumental difference between "political censorship" and recognizing crap writing for what it is, Dave. Are you sure you're not vying for a spot in the Diplomatic Corps?
BTW-- you might want to check out his site to see his nearly libelous attack on Blogcritics. He actually referred to us all as "Republicans." But in a altruistic gesture, he didn't rule out posting here again, with the caveat that he will magically disable comments.
29 - Nancy
If he does, do we have to genuflect?
30 - Ray Ellis
I don't think so, Nancy. We might have to favor him with a few rousing banjo notes, though.
31 - Nancy
And he called us ALL "Republicans"? Even Zing2 & Bliffle & me? Even MR? Geez...he must be from somewhere to the left of ... of... I can't think of anyone that far to the left, that I don't find myself back on the far right again. Moi, a Republican. Well if that don't beat all.
32 - Dave Nalle
Ray, as happened some time ago when Cerulean left the site, I expected Chuck to take potshots from the safety of his own echo chamber. Was just about to check it out when I saw your comment.
Nancy, the funniest is that he called Chris a Republican. Maybe that non-conformist political ideology is what got him exiled from Britain to Spain.
Dave
33 - Dave Nalle
I went over to his blog and checked it out. I left a couple of comments, but he's put all comments on moderate status and is apparently deleting any comments from Blogcritics users.
Ray wrote:

Not according to Chuck. In his manifesto on his site he's declared that all editing is by its nature censorship. You figure it out. IMO he's not ready for prime time.
I did leave him this message, which he almost certainly won't let through to his comments section:
And that's about all the good advice I've got for him.
I will point out that when I first came on BC I wrote an article decrying this echochamber mentality among leftist bloggers and was roundly abused for it, but I have to say that Chuck isn't the only evidence I've seen that this problem is very real.
Dave
34 - Deano
Left-leaning writers seem to be used to writing to a like-minded audience and that makes it hard for them when they go out into a more diverse environment.
Dave, Dave, Dave....{shakes head sadly}.
You just can't stop yourself can you?
35 - Matthew T. Sussman
I know I should let sleeping dogs lie, but this is just way too fun. From Chuck's blog:
A really good friend of mine once said, "You can't fix stupid",
Wow, Chuck Adkins is friends with Ron White?!?
36 - Ray Ellis
Dave, if you read his bio, he was dismissed from DailyKos, too. Chuck is neither left, right or centrist. He lives in his own "echo chamber" from where he hears the sounds of his own voice, and nothing else.
37 - Andy Marsh
I just wanna know what the secular CR is doing using any reference to churches in his comments...you're gonna go to hell for that CR!!!
38 - Nancy
I think that's the fundamentalist in him, not whether he's left or right. That's typical fundie mentality, of any religion.
39 - Dave Nalle
Deano, I'm sure there are people on the right who are just as bad and just as closed-minded, but I don't even have enough interest in their views to find where their creepy little dungeons of religious hatemongering are located on the net. I expect nothing of them and seek nothing from them. From people who claim to be liberal I expect liberal attitudes and thus set myself up to be disappointed.

Attention Clavos. As BC's grammar narc, you missed a bust in #39.

Typos and grammatical errors are not the same thing, MCH. Still, we'll give Dave a demerit for that one--and no dixie cup of ice cream Monday morning.

Quite a loss.

Chris,
It's obvious, you are a professional Liar, Just like th [sic] rest of the Republicans...
Chris is a Republican? In what country's political system? Spain?
44 - RJ
If I had to guess, I would suspect Chris is actually a supporter of the Partido Socialista Obrero Español ...
Would I be correct? Inquiring minds want to know ... ;-)
45 - Chuck Adkins
"Personal attacks are not allowed."
what a lie.
46 - El Bicho
If you really want a laugh, check out his act in the BC forum where he threw a tantrum like a baby without a bottle.
Of course, he leaves out the fact that he was working with an editor on this post and had nothing bad to say to him at the time.
On the plus side, it looks like I have a new contributer to my site PrimadonnaWriters.org. Hmm, maybe he can head my Political Paranoia section?
47 - Ray Ellis
Chuck-- I have no problem whatsoever going mano y mano with you. Of course, you'd have to stand still long enough to debate. Oh, one other thing--I don't tolerate whining.
48 - zingzing
wow. that was a fast exit. 10 comments and out. hope his skin grows back...
not much you can really say about the article. the real fun was rj doing his rim job on hussein and obama, dave pontificating on the psychology of the left wing, sussman making one of his brief forays onto the political page to leave one his smelly turds (i swear he only does it when he can beat someone over the head), mch attempting to bash dave, nancy declaring whole sections of the population ready for beheading... business as usual!
ahh... mr. detroit, you were but a tiny blip in the vast vastness that is... blogcritics!
49 - Matthew T. Sussman
Mentally challenged people put up less of a fight when you punch them, zingster. Write that down.
50 - zingzing
yes, sir.
(you know what i say is true... you never comment on the politics... you just pick a target and nail someone's head to the floor.)
(thank you michael j west. it has been too long.)
51 - Matthew T. Sussman
"you never comment on the politics"
What's the point?
52 - Glen Boyd
Well, C'est l'Vie as far as i'm concerned. I actually tried to help this guy out after rejecting his first "submission" outright (which could have got us sued).
Over several e-mails -- none of which hinted at the psychobabble here and in the forum -- I thought he was kind of reaching out to me, so I did my best to help. What I guess I should have just realized in the first place was a lost cause to begin with.
Glad he allowed us to cut our losses.
And as for me, it's no more Mister Nice Guy with these newbies (LOL)!

53 - Glen Boyd
The part that still strikes me, is that as the editor who "held up" his piece (because I thought I was working with him), he says it was withheld by "Republicans."
So does your resident Springsteen worshiping, Neil Young defending, John Edwards leaning resident liberal commie strike any of the rest of you as "Republican" in any way, shape or form?
Nope. Didn't think so.
-Glen
54 - zingzing
sussman: ""you never comment on the politics"
What's the point?"
exactly.
55 - RJ
Edward Morrissey asks if the wheels are coming off of Obama’s Campaign. I very highly doubt that. Coming off the GOP’s wagon, quite possibly.
Looks like, instead of the above, the wheels came off your blogging career, Mr. Adkins...
56 - Dave Nalle
Glen, you're the new kind of Republican. Go visit Christie Whitman at the Republican Leadership Council.
Dave
57 - Dr Dreadful
I actually tried to help this guy out after rejecting his first "submission" outright
That explains a lot.
Clearly, you are a ravening Nazi who loves to laugh at people's supposed First Amendment rights. You obviously spotted that Chuck's jackboot was not sufficiently polished and he must therefore be silenced.
I'll do a quick Amazon search to find out if he's had any books published, and will let you know so that you can burn them.
Heil whoever!
:-)

RJ, re your #44, for the record, I'm non-aligned with political parties; there are some good ideas and policies to be found all over the political spectrum as it is currently portrayed, but I don't know of any political party that is worthy of support, they all seem intellectually corrupt to me.
59 - zingzing
i did something really cruel. but for some reason, my cruelty only goes so far that i know of it, which pretty much means that it ends up not being cruel at all and only somewhat falsely heartening to someone who doesn't need to be heartened, falsely or not. which is more cruel? i don't know. of course, there is a reason why i leave this comment in this space. only i may ever know. i'm sure someone can figure it out.
60 - Dave Nalle
oh god, he kidnapped Chuck's cat and shaved it.

Dave: Left-leaning writers seem to be used to writing to a like-minded audience and that makes it hard for them when they go out into a more diverse environment.
I thought that most of the media was Left-leaning with the exception of Fox news (bless them)?
62 - Clavos
I'm really late to the party here, but i just got off chuck's blog and couldn't resist this cut-and-paste, taken nfrom his remarks about why he has turned on "comments moderation" on the blog:
"Please be advised, my opinions are my own, I am NOT all interested in debating my opinions on any issue, so, if you come here to try and draw me into a debate, I'll just delete your comments. I will explain my position on any issue, I will not debate it. You want to debate an issue, go elsewhere. Thank you."
Sheesh!
And he calls himself a "Progressive"???
Did he get that out of Mein Kampf?
63 - Dave Nalle
I thought that most of the media was Left-leaning with the exception of Fox news (bless them)?
Most of the media is interested in making money by selling advertising, Zedd. From what I can tell aside from their news editorials Fox is no more conservative than any of the others and most of the others aren't as liberal as Fox when it comes to their entertainment programming.
Dave
64 - Dr Dreadful

...
[chokes, gapes, is rendered utterly speechless at absolute audacity and alternate-universe-ness of above statement!]
65 - Dr Dreadful
Zedd, you're on the right track bringing up Fox News. A lot of their "personalities" go to pieces in the face of a competent rebuttal. (Hannity interrupts and hectors, O'Reilly overshouts and cuts people's mics, etc).
It just comes down to the fact that there are fragile egos on both sides of the aisle.
66 - Christopher Rose
Re #64, you'll get used to it, Doc. Dave has lots of totally splutter-inducing views that come from that alternative universe! ;-)
67 - Zedd
Dave,
How much are you getting paid for playing nuts?
I was making a smart aleck comment about the rhetoric about the media being left leaning. You however jumped in with that comment, help us all!
68 - Dave Nalle
Guys, READ what I wrote. I was talking about Fox as a whole, not just FoxNews. While their news leans more to the right in editorial content, I think it's unquestionable that their entertainment programming on their broadcast network is more cutting edge, more controversial and in many cases more 'progressive' than anything else on broadcast TV.
Dave
69 - Dr Dreadful
OK, Dave, but you were responding to Zedd, who was not talking about the Fox broadcast network, but Fox News specifically. You tried to throw sand in our faces, but we blinked in time.
By the by, d'you suppose Chuck would be pissed if he knew that we were still keeping his thread going? :-)

Chuck:
Welcome to Blogcritics! If you are really nervous about being eaten alive (comments wise), just don't write for the music section!
I agree with you about the Republican spin machine. Then again, Hilary is really a lesbian (I think, not that there's anything wrong with it Seinfeld) and Edwards is a closet homosexual (same Seinfeld comment).
71 - bliffle
What amazes me is that someones mind would immediately go to the question of whether a candidate is homosexual or heterosexual. Unless, of course, one has a vested interest.
72 - Brad Schader
Lisa: One thing I've always wondered -- how can Fox News be so conservative when the Fox network keeps airing raunchy shows...They don't fit together.
Kent: Fox deliberately runs shows that will earn them huge fines, which are then funneled through the FCC straight to the Republican Party.
73 - REMF
"Lisa: One thing I've always wondered -- how can Fox News be so conservative when the Fox network keeps airing raunchy shows...They don't fit together."
Oh really? So conservatism and raunchy doesn't fit together, eh? Tell that to one of Newt Gingrich's mistresses...
