Future for the Dems? I think not.

I have wished for a while now that Dennis Kucinich would just go away because he is an embarassment to Northeast Ohio. Frankly he is overtaking the Browns' season this year on the embarassment scale. Stories like this don't help.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Federal spending was the topic and Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich came prepared with a pie chart to argue his point about a bloated Pentagon budget.

But although many listened to Tuesday's presidential debate, few could see the Ohio congressman's prop.

The debate was broadcast only on National Public Radio.

As Kucinich challenged Democratic front-runner Howard Dean for refusing to acknowledge that the Pentagon budget needs to be cut, debate moderator Neal Conan of NPR interrupted.

"Congressman Kucinich is holding up a pie chart, which is not truly effective on radio," Conan told his listeners.

    Kucinich was not deterred.

"Well, it's effective if Howard can see it," he replied. (From Fark.com

Please back away Mr. Kucinich. I don't care if you have Willie Nelson and the lord, carpenter JC on your side you do not stand a chance and you are only embarassing yourself and the rest of the people in Ohio. I think Al Sharpton has a better chance of getting the nomination and he is the President of the United States of Crazy

He just should have added that people could see the chart on his website.

Though NPR listeners are fairly intelligent. I'm sure they could picture a pie chart in their heads. It is called theater of the mind.

And while you may think Kucinich is wack, having seen him speak a couple of times (San Francisco is probably his second home these days) he is pretty impressive.

He, Sharpton, and Braun won't get the nomination, but they are bringing up ideas which wouldn't have been discussed in the campaign without them. And that helps the Democratic Party keep people who might become Greens from leaving.

They also help show how despite the Republican (and Democratic Leadership Attacks), Dean is a moderate on many issues.

Unless there is still a tight fight for nomination, Kucinich will probably do pretty well in California.

Kucinich is an inspiring speaker. I saw him here in L.A.

A Prayer for America is a great speech.

I'd support him if I thought he could beat Bush, but I don't think he can.
