The guy waving a sign and shouting at Bill Maher today might be the next MacVeigh or Kasinski a few frustrated years down the road.
So I'm watching the Bill Maher show and starting to doze off as Sheila Jackson Lee spouts some sort of moronic socialist nonsense, and all of a sudden I'm jarred alert as the show gets sucked into a bizarre alternate reality by a loud shouting voice from the audience. I have no idea what the guy was shouting, but all of a sudden Bill Maher is charging into the audience, calling for security and they've got the guy surrounded and are dragging him from the hall.…

Alex Jones? Not exactly a familiar face or a household name in US broadcasting. And Lou Dobbs on cable. Got a long way to go before Mr. and Mrs. America get the facts.
Are the flag-draped coffins arriving from Iraq shown on the major tv networks these days or is the ban still in effect?
27 - alessandro
I thought of Alex Jones but realized that he's not on TV or exactly mainstream but you have to admit he and Dobbs command bug audiences.
28 - Lapdog
Lou Dobbs isn't about to put his job on the line and neither are any other big names on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox. Digging too deeply into 9/11 is taboo on mainstream TV and if that's not a fact let's see the examples.

"That's the pattern of the kind of narcissistic mindset which drives conspiracy fanatics."
"It's even believable that in the ultimate irony, as they retreat into a world of paranoia and frustration, the 9/11 conspiracy fanatics might themselves turn to violent terrorism to get the attention they so desperately crave. It's easy to laugh at the conspiracists, but it's a grim truth that someone protesting Bill Maher this week might be the next Timothy MacVeigh or Ted Kasinski a few frustrated and ignored years down the road."
Who should we worry about more, the twisted mind-set of conspiracy theorists or the twisted mind-set of authors who have Nightmares of Apocalypse based on political beliefs.
"Stupid is as stupid does."
Should be: "paranoia is as paranoia does"

Yes, Dave, a good, interesting article until the over-the-top conclusion [Kaczynski-McVeigh comparison...btw you also misspelled both their names]. These folks are more like JFK-assassination or UFO buffs than violent extremists.
I wonder why they would pick Maher as a target. He's not the first one that would come to mind. Unless this was indeed scripted.
But why not allow one of them on his show and then flay him/her mercilessly...it's what he does to many of his guests.
And it's also possible that there is something actually worth investigating if you clear away the craziest stuff. There's plenty we don't know about the before, during and after of 9/11.
I am amazed that the conspiracists are so far nowhere to be found on this thread.

Ah hell. Fixed the names now.
These folks are more like JFK-assassination or UFO buffs than violent extremists.
The moderate ones are. But a subset of that same culture includes some of the violent extremists who are our most likely source of comestic terrorism.
I wonder why they would pick Maher as a target. He's not the first one that would come to mind. Unless this was indeed scripted.
I think it's a combination of Maher having insulted them in the past and the fact that his show is live and therefore they won't get edited out. Not a lot of live shows on TV anymore.
But why not allow one of them on his show and then flay him/her mercilessly...it's what he does to many of his guests.
He's had a few marginal celebrities on who think strange things about 9/11, particularly black celebrities who seem to think the jews were behind it.
And it's also possible that there is something actually worth investigating if you clear away the craziest stuff. There's plenty we don't know about the before, during and after of 9/11.
There may be details to be filled in, but the basic premises of the 9/11 truth movement are ridiculous.
I am amazed that the conspiracists are so far nowhere to be found on this thread.
I think it's because 9/11 isn't in the title.

I asked a friend who's a devoted Maher watcher why he thought this happened. His response:
"My only guess is that they think they have a chance of being "understood" by people who adore Maher; i.e. the very left wing of politicized people. But boy, are they wrong. It was really pretty unsettling, doncha think?"

There is another version of 9/11 truth, see the video: 9/11 syndicate

I watched the Dixie Chicks movie a while back and noted that they got death threats because one of them said she was ashamed of Bush.
So it's not surprising that there will never be a discussion on mainstream US television about a possible Bush administration connection to the destruction of the twin towers.

The incident was not staged. Nothing about it was. This was an organized protest of 6 audience members who conspired outside of the studio. They're part of a larger group that has protested outside the studio and have even disrupted the internet broadcast before. There was security there that night, just not enough immediately. I'm not going to elaborate further on how I know other than to say I was in the studio that night.

My only point to the conspiracy theorists is to ask that if what you see appears to you to be an "implosion", what conclusion out of it can you draw that the government was behind the implosion. First off, you have no real facts to back up your case, just a theory based on some irrelevant scientific data about melting points of metal and a youtube video. Second, isn't it possible, just as possible as government, for the terrorists to have had a secondary means to take down the WTC, in case the plane attacks failed for some reason? Finally, you're nuts if you think Bill gives a crap about what you shout from the rafters or would even entertain having a guest on that would simply take over the show talking about conspiracy theories. Pay attention to who you're talking about.

No, I'm not Bill Maher or whoever you think I am. I'm anonymous for a reason.

It's absolutely ridiculous how everyone on this blog makes fun of people who study history and see the actual conspiracies behind events, while simultaneously INVENTING a conspiracy between the audience members and the protestors which did not exist.
You feel sane and justified in your wild accusations which are based on something which exists only in your own head, but the historical fact of government sponsored terrorism needs to be put in quotes, like it's something that was just made up a couple years ago by crazy people who will soon be committing terrorist acts on innocent civilians..
Holy crap.. Do you really think people who think Oswald was the lone gunman and that the government had no prior knowledge or involvement in 9/11 are the majority anymore? Pick up a news-paper or read a poll..
YOU are the minority..
Here's a brief list of MAJOR networks which decided to "ignore" 9/11 conspiracies by devoting entire segments and entire broadcasts to them..
The History Channel
ABC
FOX News
PBS
C-SPAN
..not to mention the movies which have been viewed literally hundreds of MILLIONS of times..
You have to live under a rock to think that most people accept the official story on 9/11, and you have to be either a child or an idiot to think the government doesn't sponsor terrorism on itself.. It's old news.. try opening an encyclopedia..

I hope "Name" that you weren't talking about me. I have facts to support who the people in the audience were. I have evidence to support that they conspired outside the studio. I have no opinion whatsoever on any conspiracy theories related to 9/11, other than that conjecture that I spat out about other possibilities. Quite frankly, I could give a crap about 9/11 when there are major genocides, killing far greater amounts of people, going on all over the world. What happened on 9/11 is not out of character for the rest of the world, just for us sheltered Americans.
43 - Anonymous
Seriously, they debunked 9/11 conspiracies on South Park about a year an a half ago. And Trey and Matt rule all, so no more arguments...
44 - Name
No. I was referring to the people who claim that it was scripted. I find it amusing how they create conspiracies which do not exist, and yet make fun of people who believe in conspiracies.
Nevermind that, I find it amusing altogether that anyone who is over the age of 15 could believe ANYTHING happens EVER without a conspiracy involved.
This is just particularly ironic because Bill Maher had nothing to do with it according to the protestors, however according to THE GOVERNMENT, they commit acts of Terrorism repeatedly in order to further their agenda. The quotes the morons on this blog use are around terms which come from miltary documents. "False-Flag Terrorism" is what THE GOVERNMENT calls it when they blow up things to blame it on their enemies. Obviously you never paid attention in school. There is a reason they say "REMEMBER the Maine". Governmnt sponsored terrorism hasn't been a "conspiracy theory" since the 1600's when they started TEACHING it in PUBLIC SCHOOLS..
Wow...wake up and pull your head out already..
45 - Dave Nalle
Actually, Lap, given some of the crazy shit they put on TV to fill the demand for 24/7 news on 4 or 5 cable networks I'm surprised the 9/11 nuts don't get more exposure than they do. I think it's a measure of how unutterably stupid their beliefs are that even the most desperate hosts on MSNBC can't see wasting much time on them.

For that last to be true all you have to do is take the broadest definition of conspiracy possible. But in the real world it's a lot more practical to use a narrower definition.

Ah, yes, Charlie Sheen.
One of the most luminous intellectuals in an entire universe of them: Hollywood.
There's a reason that for centuries, actors were considered to be barely a step above prostitutes; until the movie business came along, and it was no longer necessary to even master the craft to be an actor, much less have any intelligence.

I actually think actors who speak their minds publicly are just jealous of rock stars. Musicians can express their opinions about politics or other subjects by writing songs about them; actors, who for the most part perform scripts written by others, don't have that outlet.

I dunno......
I mean........reallllllllly, I know how I'm about to sound and I don't like it......
the crazies might not be crazy; it's very possible we're the crazy ones.....
The thing is.....Does anyone really think Oswald was a lone gunmen?
Have we ever even looked at McKinley's assanation?
Who's to say it doesn't all trace back to Lincoln....
Why was the Federal Reserve created over Christmas break when most senators were gone?
and 9/11 was the Springboard for all these things (wiretapping, Iraq, Corporate/Fascist tactics).....
Maybe there is a controlling group.........................................................................................................................
The thing is.....these people might not be wrong, and I think we should pay some attention to them (but not the nuts that went on the show; they asked to be ridiculed).
That being said....I'm usually wrong.

"You and me must be a right pair of tarts then, Clav."
Ah, thank you, Doc. I was hoping that you would rise to that occasion, and you came through magnificently.
You and I are real actors. As you know, working in live theatre, we get only one opportunity to present our work; the (excuse the expression) film "actors" can (and do) keep trying over and over again, until they get it right.
I have done a little bit of film and TV work; it's much easier than the stage, but also quite boring; one sits around forever, waiting for the techies to get their part right, then a few minutes of shooting, and then (provided everyone got it right in only a few takes) it's back to sitting around and waiting again.
No talent or brains required.

It's rumored now that the Bush administration wasn't directly involved with the destruction of the twin towers, and neither were the mysterious UFOs that attacked the USS Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin on August 4, 1964.
On Sept 11, 2001 those UFOs were reportedly in Iraq gathering up Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, which they then miniaturized and stuffed in a bubblepack mailer addressed to K. Trout, Tralfamadore. It was returned because of insufficient postage and now gathers dust in an apartment rented to a guy named Newman.

Here is exactly what happened on 9/11/2001:
The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed, a portion of the Pentagon was damaged, a plane crashed in Western Pennsylvania, and over 3,000 people -- innocent, random Americans who were targeted for simply being Americans -- were brutally and heionously killed.
And then, every other American, who realized that it could have easily been them who was killed immediately began searching for answers.
They didn't need the right answer, mind you, this was "any port in a storm". The first story that they heard immediately became canon. Since then, they have believed -- without proof or question -- anything that supported that original theory. And they have discredited -- without investigation -- anything that did not support that theory. Often times violently, and with no more of a rebuttal than to question the sanity of the ones that took the time to ask questions.
To those whose best comeback involves the tired, unoriginal "tinfoil hats" line, can you tell me one significant detail about 9/11 you have learned since 10/1/01? One thing that differs from what you believed on that date? If you can, I'll be happy to debate you. If not, the next time I wnat your opinion, I'll read a newspaper.

The real issue is that Jews comprise 2.5 percent of the population yet hold 50 of the 100 most powerful positions in America. We went to war against Iraq because of the Jewish lobby. It is a historical fact that Zionists committed genocide against the Palestinians. How can anyone justify the existence of Israel. Who knows if Israel was behind 911. It is totally conceivable given the history of Zionism.
63 - Travis
Maher doesn't want anyone sniffing around the ashes of 911 because he knows where the footprints will lead. This corp-media "straight-shooter" showed his true allegiance when Michael Scheuer was on his show.

Comparing people who seek the "truth" to those who were brainwashed and fooled by the government to commit terror attacks against the US is a dangerous accusation.
Since when does seeking the "truth" become a terrorist act?
Just because your corporate masters want to screen the "truth" from being told doesn't make it an act of aggression. The fact that you would make up such a lie will cost someone there life one day.
Are you happy being a shill for the Corporations?
68 - Dave Nalle
Kris, believing in the 9/11 conspiracy requires an irrational faith in something out of keeping with demonstrable fact, therefore it is NOT seeking the truth, but rather a harmful delusion.

There is a significant amount of room for debate over the "truth" of what happened that day. Obviously over time more evidence will be gathered.
What is deplorable about conspiracy theorists is that they claim to know the entire story without an official position. Like all lunatics, they become hostile when their grasp on reality is questioned and begin to suggest everyone "else" is not in touch with reality.
People are very unhappy with the Bush administration and have hit rock bottom in their lowest expectations. However, it is the obligation of rational people to question anything not promoted by officials.
Read what Chomsky has to say about the conspiracy theories, if anyone is not on the take from the Bush administration its Noam.
