Cpl. Matt Sanchez, the homosexual version of a Jewish Nazi, deserves all the hateful comments against him.
Matt Sanchez, a big (in more ways than one), strong marine reservist, has been an idol of right wing religious zealots for the past three months. He has made his rounds on neocon news outlets claiming he was mistreated while trying to recruit people to fight in an unjust war. The New York Post gladly printed his editorial while Bill O’Reilly blushed. Sean Hannity may have secretly put pictures of Matt Sanchez on his perfectly waving American flag. Michelle Malkin must have been honored to have a fellow "minority" stand up for ancient American values. The conservative’s favorite diva, Ann Coulter, was probably so excited that she repeated the word “faggot” fifty times to her dog.…

"ALL that tells you, Marlowe, is that the overwhelming majority of Republicans found Bush less horrifying than what the Dems were offering, and I don't find that surprising at all, especially in the case of Kerry who really is a prize idiot."
That doesn't tell us this at all Dave. It tells us that the Republicans were in LOCK STEP with one another up until 2006 when it became glaringly apparent even to most hardened Reps that things were amiss. Before this - even if they were beginning to suspect such things - they were either too afraid to break rank or to driven by ego to admit the homo erectus they'd elected to the office wasn't the brightest homo on the Serengeti...

Marlowe, your 'lock step' theory is nothing but an assumption which there's no evidence to support. Bush never had the kind of monolithic support you suggest, even if a lot of people went along with him on the war, both democrats adn republicans.
Frankly, you have no idea what you're talking about, and you're clearly just expressing a desire to portray Republicans as zombie-like boogeymen because you're too bigoted to try to understand them and are afraid of what you'd have to admit about yourself if you thought of them as more complex and human than the convenient straw men you've erected in your imagination.

Can I just say that I love, love, love what is happening to the Republican party right now? Makes me so happy.

#27: Dave, Thanks for the mental picture of the day!

Dave... One of the things I appreciate most about you is how you've taken not just ONE page from Cheney but the entire book. He too simply dismisses all arguments in the same manner. I think a perfect illustration would be found here (I'll be happy to play the role of Opus).
I await with abaited breath dear Davey when you actually ARGUE a point, as opposed to what you do with everyone here which is simply to pick up the playing field, give it a good shake, declare no one but YOU can possibly understand all the nuances of the discussion-of-the-moment and then proclaim your understanding as the New Reality.
It was fun at first but, as with Cheney, it's getting real old real fast.
There have been tens of thousands of posts, blogs, articles, commentaries, etc., etc. that have said the same thing I mentioned already. Unless you're willing to declare everyone in the world to be out of step with Reality, save you... Well, you might want to rethink that...

Marlowe, there is no rational argument which works in the face of irrational bigotry, so I just respond by stating the truth so that those who are reading have it available as a contrast to the lies and delusions of the bigots.
Say something intelligent and with a basis in fact and we might be able to have a real discussion.
Dave

My God! I'm starting to think Cheney learned his moves from YOU! You've done it again! I worked with a guy recently that would do this constantly. If you said the sky was a beautiful shade of blue he'd absolutely INSIST that it was actually green - and here's why. If you tried to REASON with him he'd wave it off and do what he always did - a standard debate trick - "refer to authority". If he couldn't present himself as a said authority he would reference something that of course no one had access to.
Come on Davey... I've got respect for you. You used to NOT do this back in the day (when BC was young and a bit more vigorous - but then weren't we all?).

I can only work with the material I'm given, Marlowe.
Let's try a game. You say something negative about Republicans which is based in fact and beyond just something made up out of pure bigotry and then we'll have a discussion.
Dave

Ahhh! The work of a true spinmaster! Love it! Throwing "bigotry" in there is a bit much for a short response... Especially when you know my record of not being a member of - nor a big supporter of the Demos either...
But I love it!
>You say something negative about Republicans which is based in fact<
Of course Davey get's to decide what that FACT IS, how it IS, its color, shape, size, composition.
I'm almost tempted to go and put on my hat simply so I can doff it to you!
Excellent work Davey... I've missed your little fiefdom! You crack me up!
"...based in fact... pure bigotry..." Excellent!

So that would be a big 'no thanks' on trying to participate in a meaningful discussion.

#31--Dave says, "there is no rational argument which works in the face of irrational bigotry..."
Dave, Your impatience with dissenting opinions, intolerence of other reasoned views, and condescension is well-documented here, so maybe it's time to lay off the "bigotry" label for others.
I remember a month or so ago when you wrote that Senator Jim Webb was "more than a little evil." When I objected, your response was that you got that feeling from seeing him on TV a few times. Now I guess that fits in somehow with your stated belief above that meaningful discussion is only possible when comments are "based in fact and beyond just something made up out of pure bigotry", but frankly I just don't see how.

Dave's right about you Marlowe. Nothing you have said about the GOP is based in fact. it's just your biased bullshit take on the party. That's painfully clear to anyone who has read your posts.

damn you bloggers! I was expecting an intelligent debate about this topic but all I got is a republican vs. democrat discussion.

Sorry if I contributed to your pain and suffering. I'll leave Arch here to dazzle us with his brilliant insight and graceful arguments...

I wrote this article last month to make a point about a fairly common tendency in American society. Movements like the HRC, radical feminists, and pretty much every university women's study department in the country have declared war on the American male and demand radical change. One of those changes is the assault on masculinity. It's easy to confuse gender with sexuality and in fact, much of the current multi-cultural, LGBT(Q?) and every other alphabet acronym movement is designed to do just that. To deny you were born gay is treated as lunacy and self-hatred, but if you deny that you were born a man we may just get the city to pay for a sex change. Keep those thoughts in mind as you read the following article.
41 - Arch Conservative
The premise of your article and ensuing comments is there is something seriously psychologically wrong with any gay person who wants to be a republican and then you have the nerve to say....
"damn you bloggers! I was expecting an intelligent debate about this topic but all I got is a republican vs. democrat discussion."
Please tell me your kidding.

Tired of Political Correctness? So were the Spartans!
The overwhelmingly liberal movie-reviewer set (the people who insist most European film are deep and insightful) are angered by the intolerance and lack of sensitivity shown to the multiculturalist idols that 300 refuses to worship. Of course, the millions of viewers worldwide who stood in line to see the film world-wide probably don't agree. The Marine Corps Times gave it FOUR stars. While my best buddy Joe said it was "awful"--that pretty much sums up the cultural divide between the Few the Proud and the I'm here I'm Queer crowd. The looney, lilly left and movie critics can sleep well knowing that they have a cinematic soul-mate in the persona of the President of Iran who feels every bit as offended by 300's simplistic good vs. evil message as they do--imagine that.

Matt (known as Mateo) is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He is most certainly gay as demonstrated by his visible profile he had while living in Montreal. He was seen frequenting gay bars, bathhouses and going on dates with men (not for pay). I doubt very much this was "field practice". Being gay is not a problem at all (live and let live!!!). However going to bed (figure of speech) with right wing zealots is questionable judgement. I hope he was aware, for his sake, his life would be scrutinized after appearing on national media. Maybe he is doing an undercover study of the conservative world similar to what Gloria Steinem did while infiltrating the Playboy Mansion and writing about her experiences back in the good old days.
44 - Arch Conservative
"However going to bed (figure of speech) with right wing zealots is questionable judgement."
Yeah he would have been much better off going to bed with left wing zealots so they could use him as a pawn in advancing their agenda and then discard him like yesterday's when he was no longer of any use. You know...whatthey did to Cindy Sheehan.
45 - daryl d
Matt Sanchez is not stupid. Actually, he is pretty intelligent. He's a good writer. Unfortunately, I just think he is misguided. Once again, Matt, if you come to this blog, most of us are NOT judging you for your opinions on liberals, gays, etc. We are judging you for partying it up with the neocons who want the likes of you dead for sexual feelings that you probably(I'm not a biological expert in this area)are not in control of.

Lee, Lee, Lee. Must you hurt?
Perhaps Nalle just forgot something. He has a bad memory, you know. And a bad memory exculpates everything.
Let's all try to show more Christian compassion for poor old Scooter Nalle.

Or more like 8 months ago.

You're kind of in Forrest Gump mode here, right? That off-hand comment of my personal impression of Webb is obviously not intended to be a work of deep or rational analysis. It was the feeling I got from hearing him rant like a barely controlled maniac to Tim Russert. But it's still not bigotry. It may be a trivial opinion formed on limited data, but it's at least got something behind it.
Bigotry as you and many others practice it - you might want to look it up some time - is when you form opinions about someone based solely on preconceptions about a group they are associated with. For example, that all white southerners are racists or that all black people are lazy or that all republicans are homophobes.
But look, go ahead and stick with your prejudices. They're plenty transparent and whether you like it or not people are judging you based on them.
Dave

Dave,
(1) I'm deeply honored to earn a place on YOUR prejudiced bigot list, and
(2)I never thought I'd see the day when you admitted to expressing "a trivial opinion formed on limited data".
Enjoy your day!

There's a lot of deceit going on out there and it's not coming from me. I've had to be more explicit, public and come under far more scrutiny than perhaps anyone else who reads this.
This part of my life took place over a decade ago--period.
I look forward to the day when I'll be chasing a toddler across the living room and married to a woman who is proud to have me as the father of her children.
I frankly don't care, who has a problem wtih this. The Marine Corps is a conversion experience and my life changed when I joined.
Semper Fi,

Although I think I clearly heard Alan Combes states that the ad (with his picture and phone number) was in the New York Blade on Nov 19th 2004, so far I've been unable to find it.
Unless of course it merely had his phone number with no picture. At one time his phone number was in the web archives but it's been removed.
