Well for all you film critics out there, here is a twist! Former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, in speaking with Bulgarian university students, gives his review of the technological gadgetry highlighted in the long standing James Bond book and film series. Hopefully Ian Fleming will forgive him. We suspect Mr. Powell is sharpening his college campus lecture circuit skills in preparation of his retirement from government! He does make some interesting observations however.
Outgoing US Secretary of State Colin Powell turned film critic, panning the formulaic plots of James Bond films but extolling the producers for their prescience in providing the fictional superspy with sophisticated gadgets before they were actually invented.
Powell told a group of Bulgarian university students here he was amazed by the number of early Bond gadgets that seemed outlandish at the time but eventually turned up as working versions on the open market.
He jokingly declined to comment when asked by a student whose class had analyzed Bond movies whether real-world technology surpassed that presented in today's films, saying "so much further I can't talk about them."
"It's interesting, though, a lot of the gadgets that you saw in the older James Bond movies and some of the other gadgets which seemed so incredible all have happened," Powell said.
He had less enthusiasm for actual content of the movies.
"What did you discover about the plots of James Bond movies?" Powell asked the student.
"They all seem to have the same plot: OO7 comes in, bad guy is out to do something very bad, a lot very beautiful women around, a lot of car chases and fancy gadgets, bad guy goes at the end and James Bond gets the girl."
Powell, who prefers Jamaican rum and coke to shaken martinis, offered no opinion on who his favorite Bond actor is.
It would seem to us at the ZZ News Portal, that the ex-Secretary of State will do quite well in the private sector, clandestine movie critiques aside. There is no doubt however that the former Statesman is both welcoming and preparing for his new life outside of politics. - ZZB

What I can't wait for is the inevitable situation of Colin being censured by Michael Powell for promoting James Band's promiscuous lifestyle via the PTC bot faxmachine who generate all of the complaints to the FCC.

Maybe the Powells are trying to keep it "All in the Family"? We can however see him teaching at a prestigous "war college" somewhere in the U.S. or abroad. He will not have any problem finding employment, and we suspect he will take full advantage of his quasi popularity overseas, albeit for his U.N. WMD fiasco. No thanks in small part to the U.S. "intelligence" services.
