Canadian's lawyer says charges should be brought against CIA agents

The Italians are preparing an extradition request in connection with a kidnapping by US agents, If Italy are doing so, then Canada should also, the Bush regime have allowed quite unethical behaviour in their so called "war on terror". The people behind these kidnappings should be brought to account. From the Washington Post:

Drawing parallels to the charges brought against CIA operatives by a Milan magistrate last week, attorney Marlys Edwardh said Canadian law defined torture as illegal wherever it occurs. Arar, 34, was seized by U.S. agents while he was changing planes in New York, questioned for 12 days and then transported in shackles to Syria.

"Torture is a crime that is triable by Canadian courts if the victim is a Canadian citizen. The Americans definitely aided and abetted this crime," Edwardh said, standing outside the site of a judicial inquiry into Arar's treatment.

Hi, I don't understand your headline. Who is the Canadian you are referencing?

Do I have to go read the pertinent details on another site to make sense of the headline?

    Thanks!

It appears the Canadian in question is Maher Arar, who was detained by US authorities, then deported to Syria, despite holding a Canadian passport and Canadian citizenship.

Unfortunately "Voice 1" did not quote the part of the Washington Post article that included his full name.

Sloppy. I do believe we deserve better treatment.

Canada has been torturing the world at
large with the " Got my gonads caught in
a vice grip" vocals of Geddy Lee for way
too many years now. They deserve all of
    the torture they get.

Typical response. The fact is per capita there are far more Canadian Hollywood celebs. And did I also mention it was the Canuks who built Hollywood in the first place? And what about the... ah to heck with it. It ain't worth the effort because 'murricans won't listen anyhoo.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em I say. So how about we first take Iran, then North Korea, and then Canada. I hear they have nuclear technology. Lots of power plants up there. In fact I've heard they sold technology to Kim's daddy. They got a socialist government too. Everybody gets free medicare. And what about that red flag? Heck, we had less on Saddam.

an excellent point raised about this whole Incident though...

a Canadian national was "arrested" and SENT OFF TO SYRIA FOR QUESTIONING"

    what the fuck?!?!?!?!?!?!

how can anyone in the Administration not burst into flames over the hypocrisy of sending a prisoner to a country they consider a terrorist nation?

i guess the Shrub and friends just like the way Syrians ask questions

side note to HW...picking on the great Geddy Lee will place us at War, my friend...more melodic than AC/DC's vocals, as expressive as Robert Plant with better enunciation...all that while playign the taurus pedals with his feet, synth with his right hand, and bass with his left...you base philistine...for your heartless and unfounded commentary you are now sentanced to listening to the Archie's "Sugar Sugar" for the next ten years....don't make me hafta speak to you abotu this again

Gonzo,If ya make that the Wilson Pickett
version of "Sugar,Sugar" ya got a deal
amigo. The Wicked Pickett turns that song
from a let's hold hands and walk in the
park into a girl I'm gonna do things to
    you that...

The same thing I don't like about Geddys
incessant caught my unit in the zipper
    screeching is eggggggg-sactly the same
thing that I don't like about Robert or
or Bon( I do like a few AC/DC tunes I'll
admit). GL is one talented Canuck but I
would rather pluck nose hairs than hear
2112 one more time.Every damn boneheaded
stoner had that on perpetual repeat play
during my high school years and I grew
to dislike it with a passion I usually
only reserve for the Jehovah's that bang
on my door at 7:30 on Sat. mornings and
the asshole that is always stealing my
newspaper. Maybe they are one and the
same now that I think about it. Hmmm...

nope it's the Archie's version for you, blasphemer..but i will add all the disco BeeGees songs, just to make you even more miserable for saying such nasty things about the great Geddy Lee...

keep it up and it can be..oh..i don't know..maybe 36 hours of "oops, i did it again" by britney spears...that should be enough torture for anyone to crack..

i'll admit my personal preference here..seeing the 2112 tour in '76 made me go out and buy a bass the next day

Geddy, Lemmy, Les Claypool, Entwistle are the 4 "strings" i love...

Never diss Geddy Lee anywhere near an Objectivist. (Which means, among other things, never diss Geddy Lee anywhere on the Internet.)
