An article on CTV.ca is further evidence that Canada is strengthining its stand on the softwood lumber dispute after US Ambassador David Wilkins made a typically arrogant and ignorant remark that suggested Canada should quit whining and get back to the bargaining table.
Industry Minister David Emerson, a former forestry executive weighed in on the matter today saying, "I find it a little hypocritical to hear the ambassador telling us we should be negotiating ... we've been negotiating for years." He further stated "The Ambassador has to realize that Canada is not going to sit back and knuckle under ... Canadians have had enough."
International Trade Minister Jim Peterson commented "We will go back to the table only when it's in the best interests for Canada." He added, "We know that the world is watching the U.S. and the way it treats Canada — its closest trading partner."
Yes, if this is an example of how the American government treats a neighbour and ally, imagine how they treat their enemies. And they wonder why some countries despise the USA and promote terrorism against them.
Soon they will have no friends.

What? You don't like it that we appoint an ambassador to Canada who isn't really sure where Canada is?
:-
At least it wasn't Michael Bolton. Wouldn't THAT suck?
