    Re comment #25;
    Adam, what do you expect from the same guy (Bobby "RJ" Elliott) who has such little regard for the sacrifices of our fighting soldiers that he compares accidental traffic fatalities to being killed in combat.

    to dave:

    lets skip the reason for war, should w. bush be fired for his gross incompetence in waging war?

    Michael, good question. If they were in private business, everyone from Bush and Rumsfeld on down would've been fired for how they've waged war and are still waging it.

    Adam, it would be funny if it weren't so close to the way Smirk DOES talk & "think". I will never understand why, after a lifetime of failures at everything he ever tried, anyone ever thought he would be able to succeed at running a state or a country. He's just proved once again that everything he touches turns to crap.

    You don't 'fire' a president. And it's not clear that his incompetence is all that gross. The situation is still salvageable. Good luck impeaching him though. You saw how well it worked with Clinton.

    Dear Mrs. Sheehan,
    I just wanted to say that I am sorry for you for the loss of your son. I have only one son and I am certain I would be a wreck if I lost him. It is impossible for me to be able to comprehend the hurt your heart must feel.

    I am also sorry that things have developed the way they have. I am sure that this was never your intention, but things happen.

    This may sound hard, but Mrs. Sheehan....why did you let your son join the service? "A great way to pay for an education?" "A great opportunity to see the world?" Really what was the motivation?

    I realize you don't understand me right now, but here's the point.....Being a soldier is a dangerous job. So no matter what the initial motivation was to enlist, the reality is that a soldier's job is a dangerous job. Unfortunately, sometimes soldiers die.

    It is similar to being a policeman. Every day a policeman puts on his uniform, he is putting himself into danger. I have a best friend who is a police officer. He would agree that being a police officer is a dangerous job, but because he feels he is not only "doing his job", he in fact is making his world a little safer....and unfortunately his dedication might cost him his life.

    Your son is one of my heroes. I am sure that he knew his job was dangerous, but I believe your son wore that badge with honor. Unfortunately his dangerous job took his life. As difficult a loss is for us to handle, the bottom line never changes.....dangerous jobs are dangerous.

    My son is still very young, and we have had a number of military boys in our family, but if I have anything to do with the decisions he makes for his adult life....I won't encourage him to join the military. Why? Because I am selfish, and that is a dangerous job.

    I will pray for you and your family,
    Stephen
