President Bush admitted yesterday that "Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government."
Realizing the public relations nightmare on their hands, the White House moved quickly to screw more recovery workers as a sign of good will:
In what may become the next major post-Katrina policy, the White House was working yesterday to suspend wage supports for service workers in the hurricane zone as it did for construction workers on federal contracts last week, administration and congressional officials said.
When you need a lot of help fast to spur a recovery, the best motivator is always going to be lower wages. It's a simple human truth that people will work harder for less money, because if they made more money they'd start eating better and lose the hunger to get the job done. (It's like the championship team that has a hard time repeating; the hungrier team that lost last year is going to be more determined than the fat and happy champs.)
I should be working for this administration. I could really help sell their ideas.

Interesting. My reaction was not amusement. Apparently you'd rather a few people get paid an inflated wage to work slowly, than that they be able to bring in a lot of workers at a lower wage to get the job done faster. I'll chalk you up on the list of those who want to screw the victims on a point of political principle.

Personally I'm for Serfdom. Where are the Serfs when you need them?

As a descendent of Teddy Roosevelt, I gotta say, man you're missing the POINT.
The Buck Stops Here mentality (and something I messaged to the Bush camp) is what we need;
"I take responsibility. I want to know what went right and what went wrong."
and then further:
"At tomorrow's speech, the president is to outline his vision more comprehensively than he has to date. A top aide said he will stress that New Orleans officials will dictate how the city will be rebuilt, but will also make plain the reconstruction should reflect his vision of government -- including reducing regulatory obstacles and emphasizing entrepreneurship over big government, the aide said."
You takin' note Negligent???

hi my name is briana and i am from new orleans. and i am soooo not about the whole reace issue but i think it had a lot to do with ppl moving sooo slowly. i mean when 9/11 struck they moved real quick to get everybody safe. i mean i kno u cant comepare 9/11 to katrina but.. the point is is that in a white or momre spophisticated area they move quickly. but in a not so rich area they dont move as fast which is really sad. but i dont blame bush for everything. he is only one man and has things in his life also that he has to deal with. but i do thank him for what he has done.. he admitted to his mistakes and plans to fix them. everybody is not humble enough to admit it. but he did and i am very proud of MY and YOUR president
u elected him now give him the respect he deerves.
now i was blessed enough to get out of the storm but others not soo much. so i will keep all of u in myy prayers
thank u very much
