Thanks, BCB. Apparently my assumptions about Bush supporters' assumptions aren't too far out of line:
Majorities of Bush supporters incorrectly assumed that Bush favors including labor and environmental standards in trade agreements (84%), and the US being part of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (69%), the International Criminal Court (66%), the treaty banning land mines (72%), and the Kyoto Treaty on global warming (51%). They were divided between those who knew that Bush favors building a new missile defense system now (44%) and those who incorrectly believe he wishes to do more research until its capabilities are proven (41%). However, majorities were correct that Bush favors increased defense spending (57%) and wants the US, not the UN, to take the stronger role in developing Iraq’s new government (70%).

The fact that Bush was reelected says a lot about Americans; we're becoming the Moron Nation predicted by people like Neil Postman. Turn on the tube and turn off your brain.
The majority apparently don't have sufficient critical faculties to discern truth from lies, fact from spin, and this fake moral Christian front from the underlying stealth criminal greed and avarice which is at the heart of these evil fucks in the White House.
It's a dark day for America, but one can only hope it gets so bad that it swings the other way. We need to get these Christoid Taliban Values and their Empire building ways out of our system for the balance of the 21st century.
Going to be interesting to watch the "social" liberals who voted for Bush (guys like Eric) when the medieval legislation starts up.
Welcome to Bush Country and the Era of Lowered Expectations.
We'll be lucky if there's a nation left in four years.
-- and AMERICA: You are your own punishment.
PS: Anyone who voted for BUSH; you just lost the right to bitch about ANYTHING for the next for years. And we on the Left have the right to bitch about EVERYTHING and blame it on Crazy Cowboy and his policies.
Congress has, in the last few of decades, found that all you have to do is tart up the name of a bill and if you get that right, the American populace thinks it's great.
Take "The American Jobs Creation Act of 2004," which creates jobs - overseas.
We all know about "The Patriot Act" - which has parts that are downright un-America.
Republicans have been whining about "The Energy Bill" being held up by Democrats, and I'm sure there are legions of right-wing Americans out there incensed about "the gridlock."
But they haven't read the bill, and don't realize it's not an attempt to address the energy problem, but rather an attempt to stuff more coin into corporate coffers and pork to Congressional districts - a shopping mall as part of an energy bill, for crying out loud? This "Energy Bill" reflects the energy of the lobbyists, who have spent at least $387,830,286 lobbying Washington on energy policy last year alone, and Congressmen who represent themselves (that's most of them) rather than their constituents.
And I'll bet many on the right think The Energy Bill is a good bill, because it's The Energy Bill, so what are the damned Democrats doing holding it up?
Stuff like this happens when instead of paying attention, you put on a Party hat and say it's A-Okay.
And you get what you deserve. Unfortunately, everyone else gets the same thing.
