Despite a last-minute filibuster effort by Democratic senators Kennedy and Kerry, it now appears certain that conservative judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr. will be confirmed this week as Associate Justice to the United States Supreme Court, replacing retiring moderate Sandra Day O'Connor. Will the balance of the Court on such key issues as abortion, civil liberties, and the role of the judiciary change? Does the nomination process work?

Alito is a highly qualified individual of whom is deserving in his nomination. Alito's prior judgements prove him to be a righteously loyal practitioner of American law in accordance with maintaining the integrity of the constitution.

well that is certainly the Republican/conservative perspective on him. Idont' thik there is much question he is "qualified" from a judicial experience perspective, the question is more one of result, I believe
