2. Republicans have made it THEIR platform to be the representatives of morality in our country. These guys were elected because they were going to bring “decency” back to Washington.

If they knew that one among them was a child predator and did nothing, they DO need to be put on the hot seat. Are they living up to their promise? Actually the report on Foley was leaked much earlier. It was the news outlet that it was leaked to (local outlet) that was afraid to move on it. They thought that they didn't have enough proof to proceed. Sorry can't blame the Dems.
But most of all, He FLIRTED WITH A CHILD, he is not dead, he is alive and well and the people who protected HIM are still running our country.
Are you a real patriot or is the label of partisan hack applicable here? Hold your party accountable for the sake of the country. They already suck (in every possible way that a party can suck). As previously stated, I place all the blame for Foley directly on Foley (I am writing that again for the folks who miss it the first time and then accuse me of condoning his acts) and not any other person. Mark Foley is a grown man and is responsible for his own actions.
I am old enough to remember Bobby Kennedy getting assassinated, if that helps.
Most of what you say is speculation. We do not know who knew what and when. That is why there is an investigation. I prefer to wait until all the facts are in. I still know that Foley is the only one responsible for his behavior, regardless of what anyone knew. I have also stated at my site and on my radio program that if people knew about the vulgar IMs (not the emails that were disclosed and investigated) and covered it up or did not act then they should be gone regardless of party.
I don't know how I can be any clearer. I am not speaking up for Foley and it is unfortunate that the hatred people have cloud their ability to realize this.

"We" know that the media was made aware of the scandal when the dems got wind of it. The media just didn't bite. Actually I know that. I heard the interview with the Florida news outlet on "In The Media". They clearly got wind of the info about Foley. They were just over causious and decided not to proceed with it. The guy who finally broke the news got lucky and got more confirmation of the scandal, called Foleys office and he said he would resign the next day if the story was held. Understandably. I don't know what your news sources you use.

There is a clear distinction between the emails and the IMs. The emails were sent to one page and the IMs were sent to another. The information that people were made aware of a few years ago were the emails. The family of the boy involved asked that the kid not be mentioned and Foley be told to leave him alone. People admit to knowing about the emails because they were referred to the person in charge of pages to investigate. Three newspapers looked at it, the FBI and the people who oversee the program. All concluded there was nothing there (in the emails) that they could zap Foley with so he was verbally counseled to not have any contact with the kid in question.
Fast forward to this year. Someone gets a hold of the vulgar IMs but we do not know if they were reported to anyone in Congress. They are known about by some people because they are released when they were. A few newspapers had them and they were released. When they were released they were combined with the emails. This gave the impression that they were from the some time frame and to the same page. Neither of these are correct.
The IMs were started 3 weeks before Jordan Edmund's 18th birthday (he is the page in the IMs) and the vulgar stuff began after the 18th BD and continued. The dates and times of the IMs released were not chronological. ABC cut and pasted them together and the timestamps on the IMs were not in order. As a result of Wild Bill's investigation ABC had to retract some of what they wrote.

My children are adults and at 17 each of them knew what was right and wrong and how to handle these situations. Get real and quit acting like Edmunds was a victim. He was in a program that is not for the average kid and he was 3 weeks shy of 18. Couple that with his responses to the IMs, which seem to indicate active participation, and you have a non issue.
You keep acting as if the Republican party is some lone ranger in the world of bad. My friend, wise up and realize they are all power seekers who do bad things. Don't be blinded by foolishness. Sorry, it does not wash. Foley is a cretin but that does not mean he did anything illegal. The FBI has yet to find a page with whom he had physical contact while they were a child. Edmund was a willing participant and there have been no other IM or email records.
As for my kids, when they were 17 they would have knocked the hell out of anyone who talked to them that way. They were though, smart enough to know to block the IM address of those with whom they did not want to communicate.

Actually, if you had bothered to read any of the posts at my site you would see that I have called for replacing all of them for quite some time. I have been calling for term limits and for more accountability from all members.
It is not about me being right because these are opinions and no one is ever totally right with an opinion. It is about acting like adults and stop blamining everyone for the acts of one person, or in some cases a few people.
It is not about invoking the dead except to say that it can not be OK in one instance and not OK in the other. You can't have it both ways.
There is nothing to admit, I held the idea of replacing all of them for longer than most, probably even you.
As for my parenting skills or personal values, you don't know anything about me to take a decision. I have two successful adult offspring who do very well for themselves while attending college. We have different perspectives because my kids are adults so it is moot, and they were mature enough at 17 to handle this kind of situation (which is strange because libs believe 12 year old girls need no parental intervention for abortion but I guess 17 year old young men need mommy and daddy). In any event, the parents of the boy who said they did not want it made public are the bad parents. As for my kids, if Mark Foley would have propositioned my son when he was 17 he would have, well let's just say Foley would never make that mistake again.
