I did not believe because I thought he could not win, but because I did not know who he was. I know now. In the last two months many blacks, including myself, became disenchanted with Billary and the comments Bill Clinton made. I had fallen off the Clinton wagon well before the Wild Bill and Calamity Jane Wild West show got out of control. If you re-read my Dem debate articles, I stated honestly that Hillary was a master debater, no doubt. I was not alone in that assessment. But was it enough?
At what point do I trace my evolution and shift to the Obama campaign? I think it really was the conviction of my children. My son, his wife and children depended on the universal health care program that Obama expanded in Illinois. He was the twin to my daughter’s husband, also a Leo. And I thought if his character mirrored or captured the depth of my children and their spouses then “he is the one.”

Heloise, after centuries of slavery, exploitation, discrimination and second rate status in the United States, this must be an exciting moment for you and for many other black people in America. In this, I'm happy for you.
I felt somewhat similar when Senator Lieberman got nominated to be vice president, even though he did not win.
That said, I'm unimpressed by all the putative candidates for president in your country. I do not see how someone like Mr. Obama will be able to get you off the path of disaster your country is headed along. We have already had several tastes of what Barack Obama does when the spotlight is not shining on him, and my reactions are not positive at all.
But I only ask that you keep my words of caution in mind while you savor this moment in time.
