Morsi keeps referring to the Palestinian people. But historian Newt Gingrich said, "Remember, there was no Palestine as a state. It was part of the Ottoman Empire. And I think that we have invented the Palestinian people, who are in fact Arabs and are historically part of the Arab community, and they had the chance to go many places." Kinda puts Morsi's statements in perspective, doesn't it?
Let's see. Obama gave a speech in Cairo, Egypt, on June 4, 2009. Morsi, in 2010, in reaction to that speech, called Obama a liar. At the same time, Morsi called for Muslims "to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews." Now, in 2013, Obama lets the Egyptian foreign aid weapons deal go forward.
But then, we peons should not worry. Obama surely knows something about Morsi that we don't. Obama knows somehow, in spite of Morsi's statement about Jews, that Morsi plans to use the new weapons for self-defense only. After all, Obama is never wrong, like with his green energy policy that gave billions of taxpayer dollars to his cronies, er, friends, er, campaign supporters. Or about jobs, or the economy, or the deficit, or -. I guess Obama knows that Morsi has had a change of heart since 2010, and currently has nothing but peaceful thoughts about Israel. Suure! If you believe that Morsi has had a change of heart, then I have the deed to a bridge in which you may be interested.
I guess his 2012 slogan of "Forward" trumped his 2008 slogan of "Change." The situation in Egypt has certainly changed, but Obama went forward with the weapons deal anyway. Does anyone want to venture a guess as to what Morsi and Egypt will do with even more F-16s and M-1 tanks? Can anyone say, "Attack Israel" and "attack Morsi opposition"?
But that's just my opinion
