Andrew Revels in the Holiday

While Al and Natalie prepare for their greased cage match over the value of U.S. citizenship on a day of independence for all the munchkins and their descendents, Dawn channels pseudo-Sullivan on the glories of being a Republican in a log cabin in the U.S. of A.

mmmmm, greased cage match. Now, with flag burning, how much would that event cost me to attend?

As I am a pacifist, I do not engage in or endorse cage matches, greased or otherwise. I gave my opinion; he gave his. If Al wants a fight, he will have to find someone else. :)

Dawn is a wonder. You're a lucky human, Eric.

Natalie, I think Eric was getting a little to fervent celebrating his independence. Maybe Jim and Al could wrestle all sweaty, greased and breathing hard - and me, you and Brian could bring popcorn and watch.

    NOW THAT WOULD BE FUN.

As far as the Sully thing, I didn't do it, my top secret special correspondence person did - I merely get the pleasure of posting it.

Sully - the 8th wonder of the world.

Sorry, Dawn, I'll pass. I have very little stomach for violence of any sort. But we can meet up for coffee afterward.

Sully is indeed terrific. I've dealt with Andrew a little bit, so the parody nearly knocked me off of my chair, I laughed so hard.

Talents of the parodist notwithstanding, you are still a wonder. I really enjoy your blog.

Coming from you Natalie, that is the highest compliment.

Coffee it is, I personally still want to see Al and(most especially)Jim in really short shorts falling all over each other greased and heaving.

But I am weird that way ;)

Y'know what, greased and heaving makes it really hard to type.

As for the shorts, gotta go with the baggy Stussy street jams, because they give my junk more room in the finally summer swelter.

And aren't log cabin Republicans kinda gay? Not that there's anything wrong with that sort of thing as long as you can handle the hypocrisy.

Um, Log Cabin Republicans is an organization made up of gay GOPers. No, I don't understand them, but they lend credence to the notion that we -- queers -- are everywhere.

In theory, being a log cabin republican makes sense. In reality, it is nothing more than a group of gay people who shoot themselves in the foot beacuse they fail to grasp the overall picture. I will give them credit for one thing - at least they do not complain too loudly when their own party shoots them down - otherwise, they would also be hypocrites.

An overwhelming number of gay people are actually fiscally conservative. After all, most do not need governmental support due to unwanted teenage pregnancies, they are arguably at an advantage in our nation's class structure, and they want nothing more than to have government out of their lives. Typically, these principles would support a republican agenda, so the natural tendency would be to support the GOP.

Unfortunately, right-wing "Christian" groups have flooded their dollars into the grand scheme of the GOP. In doing so, they have listed homosexuals as public enemy number one. This is the primary reason why gays and lesbians have showed their support for the democrats - and can anyone blame them for it?

The bottom line is that log cabin republicans care more about their pay check than they do their overall freedoms. I cannot help but laugh at them though, considering that the tax cut Bush helped to pass is hardly worth the cost of the liberties that are at stake. In essence, they are nothing short of being sellouts.

I think people have a hard time "figuring them out" beacuse they technically are not hypocrites - which would be a logical thing to assume. However, it is obviously much more complicated than that....

These people lack empathy. They fail miserably at taking their own experiences of oppression and discrimination and applying these feelings to other classes of people. Maybe this makes them have a greater sense of self-importance (kinda like the bullied kid who becomes a bully). But then again, maybe they have merely been taken over by greed.

Yeah, but one need not be a Republican to be greedy. Both vile groups are bought and paid for by the same corporate criminals.

Still and all, I find queer Republicans interesting, even though they're hard to fathom. Mostly, I pray for them. But then, I pray for us all.
