Adult Film Star Mary Carey to Interact With President, Congressional Leaders at Presidential Dinner

Many remember Mary Carey as the busty-blond adult film star who ran for governor of California in 2003, but few took her seriously as someone who would ever establish influence in the political arena. That is, perhaps, until she founded her own production company last year.

A news release put out by Carey, states:

At the invitation of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), Mary Carey will meet and interact with key Congressional leaders and Administration officials to discuss advancing powerful pro-business, pro-family agendas and meeting positive legislative goals. She will join Karl Rove, senior advisor to the President, for lunch on Wednesday the 15th, and President Bush for dinner on Thursday the 16th.

Carey, 24, made headlines when she attended a similar dinner with President Bush in 2005. Carey responded, "I'm really excited to be going back to Washington D.C. to see the president again."

"Everyone thinks that politicians are stuffy, but we all had a great time last year, and I had fun signing a lot of autographs. Wait till they see that I have lost 20 pounds since the last time they saw me. Watch out Mr. President!"

Some may say that losing 20 pounds is a loss of influence for the top-heavy Carey. Is she seeking to regain the lost influence by attending the dinner, or is she planning something perhaps a little more extreme?

"Since I'm seriously considering running for governor of California again, I'm going to need a lot of support from Republican lawmakers nationwide - however I can get it."

Some may wonder if that means President Bush or a member of Congress will be pointing to live cameras at some point in the future, swearing they did not have sexual relations with that woman, Mary Carey.

    That's hot.

I hope Karl Rove doesn't get any ideas about invading her rack. (Way too much of a groaner for a rimshot)

Rove's not buying what she's selling. He shops in a different Walmart.

Good story, John, bar the ending. You seem to have confused porn actresses with prostitutes. Although I wouldn't be at all surprised if Bush and co have seen plenty of both in their time...

Chris, when I interviewed Mary for her run for governor here in 2003 I was on A.M. Tampa Bay to talk about it, and Tedd Webb continuously inferred that a porn star and a hooker (prostitute) are the same thing. I used the ending to show the irony here. Did you ever expect a porn star to get invited to a Republican fundraiser, especially to a Republican Presidential Dinner where the President was elected by a very strong Christian majority? I think it's very ironic. I hope someone will write something on how this shows that Republicans are putting money over principle, because that's exactly what they're doing here.

    Cheers,

I didn't know Rove shopped at Wal Mart. Do tell...

I always thought he shopped on K Street.

Well, personally I wouldn't be surprised by anything done by adherents to such a shallow political philosophy as that espoused by the Republican Party but, yes, ironic indeed given the circumstances...

It's even more ironic, I think, that Mary Carey (Cooke, her last name) is married and does porn. Talk about good old fashioned family values! ;)

Most politicians are these days, unfortunately. What happened to the good old days when we had great leaders like Ronald Reagan, Teddy Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt in office? Leaders who didn't bend over backwards for money and who did what they thought was right, not what polls said. Is it possible that we may have such leaders again, or have we slid too far down a path to Gomorrah where "leaders" are bought and sold by lobbyists and special interests on the e-bay that our nation's capital has become?

And thank god that they are. Let's hope that they keep putting the PRINCIPLE of money ahead of the principle of hypocritical moralising.

Dave, if they would put paying off the principle of the debt first, it would be nice. There is only a limited number of nations we can sell our paper to, and while higher interest rates benefit those who hold our paper, higher rates also increase the debt over the long run. What then? Republicans raise taxes to pay down the debt? Then Republicans will have totally lost their base. Inflation also tends to grow as the debt grows, in case no one noticed.

Well, if you actually cut spending and the economy continues to grow as it has been, tax revenues increase without raising the actual tax rate, making it possible to pay off the debt given enough time. You just have to make sure you don't generate any new debt at the new higher interest rates. Much of the existing debt is at the very low interest rates of the last few years.

The keywords being cut spending. this Congress is supposed to be conservative, but they've been spending like there's no tomorrow, and President Bush has never vetoed anything that's come across his desk, nor has he threatened to. Sure would be nice if would take a stand for more responsible spending, IMHO.

Perhaps if Mary Carey put her skills to work behind closed doors in congressional offices she could persuade them to cut spending. I imagine she could be a powerful force as a lobbyist.

I think she's lobbying for the porn industry right now, albeit indirectly. Personally, I think her lobbying efforts would be better spent if they were focused on spending reductions in Washington. Rampant government spending is one of the causes of inflation, in addition to rampant oil prices. There's a reason why Bernanke wants to get the deficit under control.

Mary Carey could travel the country as a guest speaker and increase attendance at many Republican meetings, where attendance has been falling.

Well, when the leader of the party, President Bush, has an approval rating of 37 percent, I can see why no one is attending. You know, I really do prefer the Reagan side of the Republican party to the Bush-Ford-Nixon side. I think so do most Republicans. $9 trillion deficit ceilings do not spell conservatism, they spell bankruptcy for the U.S. If foreign nations stopped buying our debt we would really be hurting.
