ACLU wants people who pray removed from society - Comments Page 5

In Tangipahoa Parish here in Louisiana, the teachers and adminstrators continue to pray in school. This infuriates the ACLU who has continually taken the School Board to court to stop them from praying.…

What the people supporting the ACLU position on this are missing is that this shouldn't even be a court case...the Constitution is silent on the issue of whether or not there shall be prayer in public schools...as it is silent, indeed, upon the issue of public school altogether. That this is not delegate or prohibited is left to the people, or to the State (10th Amendment, liberals; you might want to read that one)...ergo, whether or not there shall or shall not be prayer in public schools is an issue which the federal courts do not have the competance to rule on...I know they've been ruling on it for decades, but the fact of it happening doesn't mean it should happen.

The proper place for the ACLU to take their case is to the people of the locality and try to convince them to ban prayer in public schools...and/or get the State of Louisiana to ban it. This way, you see, the people affected are involved in the decision, real debate takes place and the resultant law, whatever it may be, is the concensus of the people affected.

This, I know, is a difficult concept for liberals...because liberals, these days, downright hate the people; people have this annoying habit of not doing liberals bidding...but there ya have it, we're a representative Republic and liberals will just have to tough it out.

A public school is a public institution. I do not think that religion should be allowed to be 'voted in' in any such situation. One cannot have a right infringed upon due to majority rule, so that sould negate any possibility of allowing a federally funded theocratic institution of learning from being voted in.

Having said that, I do think most people would vote against prayer in schools anyway, the only ones not doing so would be in smaller rural towns where if you are not Christian you are pretty much already ostracized anyway.

Just for the record, the Nazi belt-buckle said:

    "GOTT MIT UNS"

    (God is with us.)

    =========

    Also, just for the record:

RealCon's: "What did you do in the war, Daddy? -- Hide under a rock?"

That wasn't necessary; you have no idea what this man did or experienced during the Second World War. Such a serious event in a nations history should be treated with a tad more respect and restraint, don't you think?

    An apology is in order.

    Best,
    SHARK

Just for the record -- What I said was appropriate to say to someone who says -- ,I DO KNOW THE FACTS -- when he obviously doesn’t -- and he was a ten-year old at the time…

    No apology…

I believe the age at the time is irrelevant. We do not dismiss what a 10 year old goes through, just because he's 10 years old. Kids are smarter than you think plus also he's had a lifetime of analyzing history to come to understand why the world was the way it was when he was 10. For someone to go through something like that at 10, and for you to assume they never looked deeper into it, in their life, shows you just do not want to concede any ground, rather than learn from history.

Let's hope some 10 year old who goes through a traumatic event never needs to go to you for help.

    Re: Comment 180

The person in question who went through WWII -- which started when he was about 4 years old says -- “Since I grew up during WWII, I DO KNOW THE FACTS! " -- implying first-hand knowledge of events of the time...

He says -- “Oh yea if this Real Con had a CLUE about history, he would know that HITLER MANDATED Christian Prayer in School.”.

Being 4 years old when the war started -- and with the event in question probably having occurred prior to that time… his claim has to be questioned…

This event certainly would have happened prior to the time Hitler discarded any pretense of “Christianity” -- and displayed a preference for devil worship…

So how old was he when his precocious little mind learned the FACTS?

    Hey RealCon

I was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne,

Hiding under rocks is your style. After all, anyone as low as you are lives under one.

    -----

Next Hilter NEVER gave up being a Catholic. Go do some open-minded and in-depth reseach. (IF that is possible for people like you)

I love how Liberals see things in the constitution that are not there. Listen up ACLUers the word Separation of church and state are not there. It does however say Congress will pass no law restricting religion. Freedom of religion is the whole reason we fled Europe to get here.

    Great post!

I am tired that of this damn ACLU coming here and telling us what we "can" and "can't" do.

    What is this, a Dictorship?

And who are they, the dictators?

I was 7 years old when WWII started. I never said I was IN the war. Still, I experenced what it was like to live in the US DURING the war.

As far as the Christian religion, George Carlin lays it out.

    Hey Real Con,

I KNOW the FACTS about Hitler being a Catholic as were MANY Germans and MOST Italians. OR do YOU even remember wee were fighting Iray as well?

IT is a Christian LIE about Hitler worshiping anything other than the Christain god.

Of course, since Christians LIE and LIE and LIE about SO MANY things it's NO suprise they lie about Hitler
    and Nazis as well.

Are you going to LIE and say Neo-Nazis are NOT believers in the Christian god and the Christian religion?

Are you going to LIE and say the members of the ARYAN NATION or the KKK or any of the other CHRISTIAN terrorist groups in the US do not believe in the god of the Christian and the Christian religion?

Whey not? Christians lie about the founding of the US, they came up with the Golden Rule and they did not STEAL Winter Soltice from the Pagens.
