A world under attack: My reaction to the London bombings

Since this morning, I’ve been trying wrap my mind around the events of the day. Moments before I found myself retiring to my bed to sleep away what to me was a bad day, I heard of the bombings in London. It was 4am in the morning for me here where I live, and just a little over noon in the UK. I knew once I learned of the tragedy, sleep would not find me easily.

Four attacks, many injured. The images we could see of the bus above ground just upset me. Seeing the top of the bus just gone, and hearing the eyewitness reports of the top of the double decker bus flying through the air disturbed me. By the morning’s end, we knew that thirty-seven died, and over seven hundred were injured in the attacks that began shortly after 8am UK local time in the transit system of London. Those numbers might grow larger as time progresses.

I look at the events, and I see the similarities between these attacks and those that hit the US back on 9/11. Yes, the attacks were on a smaller scale in London, but they effected the city just as much. Transportation in the city came to a halt, and these attacks came during the morning rush hour.

I found myself also thinking if these attacks had occurred just a few days ago, the loss of life might have been even more because thousands were in the city for the Live 8 concert taking place there.

Our world leaders quickly had words to say about the tragedy in London. Tony Blair spoke to his people about the attacks, condemning them as a terrorist attack. He also spoke about the possibility these attacks were made in order to stop the G8 summit occurring in the UK as of yesterday.

Why do they go after young, innocent civilians? Because they CAN!

That's all you need to know about these monsters.

Kill them all. Hunt them down and slaughter them, wholesale.

That's the answer. If you kill all of them, and yet create a better world for their offspring, global terrorism ends.

RJ - killing their parents isn't going to make them love us. Think it through before commenting.

So, what would you rather do with terrorists, Temple? Hold them in your arms?
