Unlike a number of other Bush supporters, John McCain hasn't been overly critical of Kerry's debate performance — in fact, McCain's comments have been downright flattering:
Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican who informally advised Bush on how to debate his friend and Senate colleague, told reporters in Miami on Friday that the debate was probably Kerry's "brightest moment" in the last six weeks. "He presented himself well, John did," McCain said. "Kerry came out slugging."
Sometimes I wonder if McCain, secretly, giggles giddily to himself every time he gives Kerry/Edwards a new sound bite. It's doubtful Rove's laughing; bringing on a past opponent who was smeared into the ground might at first seem like a sound idea in an attempt to cement base support, but in a close race it could be a mistake that's irreparable.

I think McCain likes and respects Kerry, since they have worked together in congress forever. I feel confident that McCain absolutely hates having to shill for this president... but knows it is politically expedient to tow the party line.
I also feel similar with Guiliani. He was spewing the GOP talking points after the debate and it rang so hollow. I bet there are many true conservatives that can't wait for this reign to be over.

By standing next to Bush during the "swift-boat vet" lie campaign -- and saying very little to negate it, McCain lost all integrity with me.
Now he's just another GOP douche-bag waiting for a *job in the next Bush administration --

McCain was a hawk on the invasion of Iraq, joining in with neocons in public panels on the issue.
That would limit his appeal somewhat.

johnny mac lost every ounce of credibilty when he booked himself on talk shows to do some bush bashing and then later started sucking him off in public at various campaign stops.
after the election he will be anti bush/kerry....what ever it takes to get his tired ass on tv....cuz...johnny mac, he wanna be president some day.
