A great week on the PSN, even better if you have access to the European store as well.

PlayStation Network Update: 02/05/2009

I am going to start this week with a public service announcement, simply because everyone who has a PS3 and loves FPS games needs to try Killzone 2. First click new user on your XMB, then instead of putting your address when prompted list a British one instead (I may or may not have used Buckingham Palace).

Once you have created a second user switch to it and visit the PlayStation Store.  You will now have access to the Killzone 2 demo (region free of course) on the European PSN store.  It is sheer stupidity that this is a Gamestop exclusive demo in North America when everyone should experience this game, it will convince you to buy it.

Now on to the North American PSN update!  It was a good update with games, demos and more.  The big new original game is 3 on 3 NHL Arcade, I really enjoy arcade style hockey (think SNES Wayne Gretzky Hockey or NHL Hitz) but I can't get into the art style for this game.  The giant realistic heads on tiny bodies creeps me out.  Hope it is good, I will be looking at reviews later this week before I decide anything.  There is a demo for it, so feel free to try before you buy.

Burnout Paradise has been further enhanced with it's first DLC, the Party Pack.  This local multiplayer add-on adds many driving mini-challenges that have you passing the controller around.  A great idea as a party game and very innovative for this genre.  They have also release the Ultimate Bundle of Burnout Paradise that contains the game, previous expansions and the Party Pack at a single price and download.

Aside from another free pack for NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM (got to get me this game) and a course for Hot Shots Golf the rest of the add-on content is not so good.  Another useless LittleBigPlanet pack (that should have been free), not so interesting tracks from the rhythm game, and more lame High Velocity Bowling characters.

Many videos looking at games, movies and the Winter Dew event are available as well as another batch of bad premium themes.  At least we get a free LocoRoco 2 theme this week.  Last but not least there is a PSP demo for Phantasy Star Portable, can't wait to try this game.
