Sony's PlayStation 3 realm stretches out this holiday season with several games and the new PlayStation Move controlling option.

PlayStation 3 2010 Gift Guide

Gamers get some extra maneuvers on the PlayStation 3 (PS3) this holiday season with the PlayStation Move while enjoying an expansive game selection. NOTE: All release dates subject to change.

 

 

 

The PlayStation Move motion controller provides new control schemes and can be accompanied with the PlayStation Move navigation controller (originally referred to as the PlayStation Move sub-controller). Be sure to check which games require the PlayStation Move and which ones offer optional compatibility.

PlayStation Move games include Racquet Sports, Tumble, SingStar Dance, Rapala Pro Bass Fishing, Sports Champions, Kung Fu Rider, The Fight: Lights Out, The Shoot, TV Superstars, Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest, and Create.  Create is a unique environment creation game that also lets players build their own objects and challenges.

Get Fit with Mel B gets players in shape using the PlayStation Move exclusively on the PlayStation 3. Beginners and advanced fitness fans can also enjoy EA SPORTS Active 2 featuring David Beckham, Venus Williams, and an innovative heart rate monitor.

Dance Dance Revolution (Nov. 11) also utilizes the PlayStation Move and lets players upload their own recording to YouTube and Facebook.  Fitness fans can also get their groove on with the PlayStation compatible Zumba Fitness on November 30.

Heavy Rain, the military strategy game R.U.S.E., and Tiger Wood PGA Tour 11 are some of the game, which now incorporates the PlayStation Move.

PlayStation 3 exclusive games including the shooter Time Crisis: Razing Storm which also includes two additional shooters, Deadstorm Pirates and Time Crisis 4, all using the PlayStation Move motion controller or Guncon 3. This game’s modes include co-op and free roaming story.

There are also film tie-in games available.  Clash of the Titans has epic boss battles while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, incorporates the PlayStation Move.  Other adapted games include Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction, Back to the Future – The Game (December 2010), CSI: Fatal Conspiracy, James Bond 007: Blood Stone, Megaminds: Ultimate Showdown, The Penguins of Madagascar, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, and TRON: Evolution (Dec. 7).

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 has more than 90 fighting characters while Naruto Shipuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 features three storylines and a new online mode.  Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole features breathtaking visuals and 360-degree movements while Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions puts several kinds of Spidey into several game modes.

The Sims3 is simulation heaven from the PC and has now arrived on consoles.  Players can share content without missing a beat during gameplay.

Sport game showdowns include Tony Hawk: Shred and Shaun White Skateboarding plus WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 and Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes of the Ring. EA Sports MMA has more tough fighting featuring several different styles and moves.  Madden 11, NHL 11, NBA 2K11, NCAA Football 11, Little League World Series 2010, and PES 2011 offer something for every sports fanatic.

Rev up for ModNation Racers, Gran Turismo 5 (Nov. 24), SBX X: Superbike World Championship, F1 2010, and Blood Drive, which has a zombie crushing TV show theme. The fast paced nail’d (Nov. 30) is set in the Andes, Arizona, Greece, and Yosemite National Park.

Players who missed modern classics the first time out can catch Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition that includes all add-on content packs plus Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Game of the Year Edition, The Sly Collection (Nov. 16), and Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition.

Music games hit another high note with Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, a functioning six-string electric guitar with gameplay from famous bands like Dave Matthews Band, Kid Rock, New Found Glory, and Three Days Grace. Rock Band 3 features a new wireless keyboard controller while Def Jam Rapstar mixes old school with modern hits. Other music games include DJ Hero 2, Disney Sing It: Family Hits, and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.

Mr. Potato Head returns to host Hasbro Family Game Night 3, which has online play complete with skills matching with the classic game and variations of Clue, Life, Twister, Mouse Trap, and Yahtzee. Battle vs. Chess adds story driven campaigns and other variations to the classic board game while Monopoly Streets brings another classic to the console that includes a customizing “House Rules” mode and online options so players can take on anyone in the world.

Tom Clancy’s Hawx 2 leads the military action game charge along with and the helicopter filled Apache: Air Assault (Nov. 16), which also features a realistic mode shaped with real-world satellite photography. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition also includes Battlefield 1943, special upgrades, and a new four-player co-op mode called “Onslaught.”

Medal of Honor offers extra add-on features with a free “Clean Sweep” multiplayer mode for Online Pass owners among other military themed bonuses like the Hot Zone multiplayer “King of the Hill” mode while players can enjoy mech battles on Front Mission Evolved.

Call of Duty: Black Ops is the next entry in that franchise.  It comes in Hardened Edition and a tricked out Prestige Edition that includes a video surveillance vehicle shown in the game and transmitter to view video taken by the vehicle.

Actions fans can try Fallout: New Vegas, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (Nov. 16), Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce, and Alpha Protocol.  That last title puts players right into a government agency conspiracy.

Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2011 has more intense first person expeditions, shooting galleries, and head-to-head multiplayer.  Fist of the North Star Ken’s Rage has visceral hand-to-hand combat as the martial arts hero protects the world from roaming gangs.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has one-player adventures with characters voiced by Robert Carlyle, Patrick Stewart, Natascha McElhone, and Jason Isaacs.

 Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (Nov. 23) features Tepeu the hero and the AI controlled monster in co-op modes and challenges that combine fighting, stealth, and platform fun. The sci-fi shooter Vanquish puts players in a futuristic world with the U.S.A. and Russia vying for energy supremacy.

MySims Sky Heroes combines simulation customization and highflying adventures.  Bakugan Battle Brawlers: Defenders of the Core features three multiplayer modes.

 Enslaved: Odyssey to the West features epic adventure and upcoming downloadable content including “Pigsy’s Perfect 10,”which will also includes the main game in 3D in a special TriOviz update. Players with 3D-enabled television can play the DLC in 3D utilizing stereo 3D active shutter glasses while 2D players can use the TriOviz Inficolor 3D glasses.

PlayStation Network/Network Plus allows players to download even more great games including Auditorium, Blacklight: Tango Down, Joe Danger, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, Who’s That Flying?!, and DJ Max Portable 3. Other downloadable games include Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.
