Sony’s Playstation 3 (PS3) expands their catalog this holiday season with several action, sport, music, RPG and online multiplayer games.

This holiday season, the Playstation 3 will expand its’ current game cache, which includes current hits LEGO Batman, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Soulcaliber IV (all release dates subject to change).

The action RPG Fallout 3 (Oct. 28) looks to break out into the front with post-apocalyptic adventure with a collector’s edition that features a making of DVD and hardcover concept art book. Eternal Sonata (Oct. 21) provides classic role playing action while Tom Clancy’s EndWar (Nov. 4) extends modern war time strategy game play with customizable armies and a revolutionary voice command system. Damnation (Dec c. 16) have lots of levels and vehicles while History Channel Civil War: Secret Missions (Nov. 4) features guerrilla tactics like train raids and stealing ironclad ships.

Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway and Call of Duty: World at War (Nov. 11) continues the first person shooter action in World War II. The popular Bioshock (Oct. 21) hit’s the PS3 while FPS sequel Far Cry 2 (Oct. 21) moves to settings in Africa with a limited edition featuring six bonus missions and a fold out map. Another FPS sequel, Resistance 2 (Nov. 4), features 60 player online multiplayer battles plus a collector’s edition.

Sci-fi horror comes to the PS3 in third-person perspective in the rated M Dead Space (Oct. 14). Other mature titles include ShellShock 2: Blood Trails (Dec. 2), Blitz The League II (Oct. 13), Golden Axe: Beast Rider (Oct. 14), Rise Of The Argonauts (Nov. 3), Legendary (Oct. 21) and Saints Row 2 (Oct. 14), which also has a collector’s edition. Platform titles include role playing Sonic Unleashed (Nov. 18), Tomb Raider Underworld (Nov. 18), Prince of Persia (Dec. 2) and Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (Oct. 21).

Yes, Rock Band 2 (Oct. 19) lets you import most songs from the first installment and features even more song additions and exclusives with a special edition and Track Pack Volume 2. Guitar Hero World Tour (Oct. 26), Rock Revolution (Oct. 14, with drum kit on Nov. 11), Disney Sing It (Oct. 7), SingStar Vol. 2 (Oct. 28) and Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol Encore 2 (Nov. 18) provide more music options.

Movie adaptation titles include Bolt (Nov. 18), James Bond 007 in Quantum of Solace (Nov. 4), also in collector’s edition, and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (Nov. 4). In Spider-Man Web of Shadows (Oct. 21) fights to get rid of the alien symbiote that plagues himself and the entire city. Mirror’s Edge (Nov. 11) features first-person action with several mixed genre elements and a female protagonist who’s an acrobatic courier.

PS3 exclusive community-based LittleBigPlanet (Oct. 21) feature a wide game play scope with online and offline multiplayer modes plus design customizations. Get those headsets ready for SOCOM: Confrontation (Oct. 14), featuring 32 players online modes. Action titles include the graphic showcase Naruto: Ultimate Ninja (Nov. 4), also in limited edition, Valkyria Chronicles (Nov. 11), Fracture (Oct. 7), Alone in the Dark (Nov. 18), Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon (Dec. 1) and Lord of the Rings: Conquest (Nov. 24).

Silent Hill: Homecoming debuts the scary series on the PS3 with creature filled graphics and music from composer Akira Yamaoka. In Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (Nov. 30), Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Catwoman and company take on Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Jax, Raiden and others. The collector’s edition (Nov. 25) includes a special comic and making of featurette.

On October 7, Basketball games include NBA 2K9, NBA Live ‘09 and NBA ‘09: The Inside, which features weekly downloadable content while college fans can get NCAA Basketball ’09 on December 2. FIFA 09 takes soccer worldwide with 10 vs. 10 online team play, where 20 different players compete in a single match. Shaun White Snowboarding (Nov. 16), and WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 (Nov. 9 with collector’s edition), provide other sport options.

Racing fans can satisfy their Need for Speed Undercover (Nov. 17) as a police officer inside illegal street racing. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift features wide racing in an island setting on October 28 while Midnight Club: Lost Angeles (Oct. 21), SCORE International Baja 1000 (Oct. 14) and the well rounded Wipeout HD provide more high speed fun.

Gift card recipients should remember Bionic Commando (Jan 30, 2009), Tom Clancy’s HAWX (Jan. 13), the crime racer Heist (Jan. 13), Skate 2 (Jan. 6) and The Agency (Jan. 1), which features massively-multiplayer online action and espionage gameplay.
