Pete Doherty, ex-Libertine and current Babyshambles frontman, has missed a mandated court appearance this morning in London according to NME.com.
Doherty has had a long series of drug-related offenses. He has served jail time and been ordered into rehab on multiple occasions. He is currently under a court order to participate in an aftercare program and this morning’s hearing was to monitor the musician’s progress in his battles with drugs.
While Doherty was unable to make his hearing, there is a much better chance his current Babyshamles bandmate Patrick Walden will be able to make his. Walden is currently in police custody over assault charges stemming from an incident involving his girlfriend. His hearing is scheduled for later this week.
The NME report says Doherty was in Paris for a gig and unable to return to London. The band has a string of dates scheduled throughout Europe despite the current unavailability of Walden. Of course, Doherty has been known to miss more gigs than he makes so European fans would do well to keep their tickets handy.
Doherty’s hearing has now been rescheduled for next month.
