Fable 3 is a symbol of everything wrong with the game industry. It is visually stunning and high budget, but the gameplay is just bad.

The game has a broken battle system in which melee weapons are very weak when compared to magic or guns, while in turn magic is immensely overpowered. This makes the game too easy to play if you don’t intentionally cripple yourself, because you’re the only person in the game who can use magic.

While the battle system is bad, it’s still not the worst aspect of the game. The worst aspect of the game would the menu, or lack of one. Instead of a menu you have an annoying room into which you have to go to do anything, from changing your weapon to leveling up or dying your hair. I actually found myself not knowing about half of the features of the room because I simply couldn’t find them. It is sad that navigating the game’s ‘menu’ is its most challenging element.

The only positive aspect of this game is its plot which is relatively good. But while it definitely tries to be funny and is set in an interesting steampunk environment, I personally have never laughed at the jokes the game throws at me, and think that I might not be the only one unmoved by the humor.

All in all. There’s nothing special in Fable 3. While the graphics are nice, there are far better games that not only have better graphics, but also have better game play and plot. To name a few: Bioshock, Mass Effect, The Elder Scrolls Series, Gothic, Overlord, etc. I would advise the reader to just pick one of them and forget about Fable 3

Fable 3 is rated M (Mature) by the ESRB for Blood, Language, Sexual Content, Use of Alcohol, Violence. This game can also be found on: Xbox 360.
