YouTube users with a creative side have a chance to win some big prizes thanks to the Panasonic Online Video Fest contest that runs through June.

Over the course of four weeks, the contest will name four weekly winners. At the end of the run, a grand prize winner will take home a 50-inch Panasonic Plasma HDTV along with a Lumix 8 Megapixel digital camera. The contest is open to U.S. residents 18 and older. Entries must be submitted through the official entry site. They have to conform to a 5-minute maximum length requirement and must be original live-action or animated comedy.

It looks like humor will be a big factor in the contest, based on the judging rules.

From the Panasonic contest site:

Videos will be evaluated initially and for Finalist Judgings according to the following judging criteria: Originality and Creativity (30 points), Most Humorous (40 points) and Overall Entertainment Value (30 points). In the event of a tie, the tied entries in any round of judging will be re-judged based solely on Most Humorous."

During the contest, fans of YouTube's many amateur video creators will be able to check out the entries and offer their own reviews. Reviewers can end up with a digital camera for their efforts, too.

Sounds like a very cool contest with some awesome prizes. If the best of YouTube's amateur video makers roll out the reels for this one, the videos should be a blast to watch.
