Following Robert Palmer’s death in Paris on Friday after a sudden heart attack, his manager has confirmed that the singer will buried in the Swiss town that has been his home for the last fifteen years. Manager Nick Cater told reporters this weekend that Palmer’s body had been released by the French authorities and will now be returned to Lugano in Switzerland. A post-mortem examination has been conducted though the cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Cater: “The body has been released and the French police are satisfied. The
cause of death is not on the certificate, but we will be told early next week. We have no reason to believe he died from anything other than a massive heart attack.”

Commenting on Palmer’s wish to be buried in Switzerland Cater added: “Robert
lived in Switzerland for the last 15 years, and that is where he wanted to be. He said it was the first home he ever had.”

Robert Palmer died of a Myocardial Infraction and that is what is listed on his death certificate. Robert Palmer was diagnosed with Hypertension in 2002 and was being treated for that medical condition. Hypertension can lead to Heartattack and Stroke.

Robert Palmer was buried in London, England, not Lugano, Switzerland, at the request of his family. Mick Carter, Robert Palmer’s manager, misreported Lugano, Switzerland, as Robert Palmer’s burial site. The location of Robert Palmer’s gravesite in London remains confidential, as per the wishes of the Palmer family.

Robert Palmer’s girlfriend at the time of his death was Geraldine Edwards, the woman Almost Famous was written about. Geraldine was also good friends with and dated Eric Clapton, who came out to stay with Geraldine after Robert Palmer’s death. He was truly a good friend to her in her time of need.

Prior to Robert Palmer’s death, he was planning on relocating to Los Angeles with Geraldine Edwards. Mary Ambrose was announced initially as Robert Palmer’s companion at the time of his death. That was a misreport by Mick Carter, which was legally rectified by the Palmer family by the agency of a Cease and Desist Order. Mary Ambrose was also legally prohibited from writing a book about Robert Palmer as well as giving interviews misrepresenting herself as his girlfriend. She was legally revealed to be his live-in housekeeper and personal assistant who was in residence with Robert Palmer as his employee from 2000 to 2003. Robert Palmer casually dated Mary Ambrose, but she was definitley was not his girlfriend. Robert Palmer dated Mary Ambrose on a casual basis from 2000 to 2003.

While in Robert Palmer’s employ, Mary Ambrose had two sons, born in 2001 and 2002. Both were from men known to Robert Palmer. Mary Ambrose’s first son, born in 2001, was fathered by Robert’s manager, Mick Carter, and her second son, born in 2002, was fathered by a Swiss business associate of Robert Palmer’s.

And on a final note, Mary Ambrose unsuccessfully sued the Estate of Robert Palmer for the full $54 million value of the Estate. Mary Ambrose did not prevail. Her case was dismissed by the French Probate Court. Mary Ambrose appealed the Probate Court’s decision, but her Appeal was dismissed in mid-2004. Mary Ambrose inhertited a total of under $20,000.00 from the Estate of Robert Palmer.

The majority of Robert Palmer’s Estate was inherited by Robert Palmer’s five grown children from two marriages, including his Lugano mansion, which was sold as part of the Estate.

Can someone tell me how mary ambrose died?

  • Laura Delamond

Sherry, I was Mike Ambrose’s Personal Assistant since the 1970’s. Mike Ambrose was Mary’s father, who passed away on September 12, 2008. Mike advised me in May of 2005 that Mary had died in London, England. According to Mike, his daughter had committed suicide while staying at a hotel in London. Mary was twenty-seven years old at the time. May Mike Ambrose and Mary Ambrose RIP.

  • Lupe Alvarez

I saw Sherry’s question and am able to answer it. I was friends with a man named John Agostino who was friends with Mary Ambrose. Mary Ambrose worked for John and his wife Rae from 1996 to 2000 as their Au Pair in Del Mar, California. There was some confusion in the press about what Mary did for a living. She definintely worked for John and Rae and she was not a waitress in San Francisco. John and Rae hired Mary Ambrose when she was only nineteen years old in 1996. From what I understood Robert Palmer’s girlfriend at the time of his death was Geraldine Edwards, the woman Almost Famous was written about. According to John, Mary Ambrose did work for Robert Palmer as his housekeeper and personal assistant and he sometimes dated her. But he also said that Mary dated a lot of people. The situation with Mary and Robert Palmer was not serious. John liked Mary and was not trying to put her down, he was just being truthful. John told me that Mary Ambrose died in 2005 in London, England. Apparently she had committed suicide in a London hotel room. John said she was distraught when she lost her court battle with the Estate of Robert Palmer and had become depressed. I’m sorry, I am not trying to be disrespectful to the dead, I am just relating what I have been told. Thanks.

I love robert palmer’s music and I think he was GORGEOUS! However, it seems as far as women, he did not give a rip about any of them!I read all this stuff about people trying to split hairs about which girls should be classified as lovers, girlfriends or employees! He was having sex with all of them, dating all of them, etc. So it’s like, give me a break! He got away with murder as far as the ladies! However, I can see why! As far as mary ambrose, I have read lengthy interviews where Robert stated he was obsessed with her prior to and at the time they were living together! She was living with him, getting a $5,000 a month allowance, having sex with him and waiting on him hand and foot! I know wives who do less for their husbands! If Mary would not be considered a girlfriend, then I must be ignorant of what the word,”girlfriend ,” means! Help me out on this one folks!

  • Ll

Well well well… Look who’s spreading lies again, under another assumed name. This is foolish. It’s a fact, Mary Ambrose was 19 in the 1980’s, you’re nuts. Don’t believe any of this. Shame on you for trying to slander the dead.

  • sherry

LI…I am totally confused, could you explain further

  • Marianne

Hi, Sherry. Just ignore Ll. You are entitled to your opinion. We live in a free country. Did I see you blogging as Kathy and Lacebra, though? I will say that I like your style. Keep having fun with this. I will explain about Ll for you if you like. I have seen his or her comment’s on other sites. He or she is alternately billing himself or herself as Ll, LL or Phylsdeal. Who knows why? I guess this person does not have a life. I personally don’t think that waiting on a man had and foot denotes a superior relationship. I always thought being someone’s best friend and equal was a lot better. And, $5,000.00 per month is not really a lot of money. I earn that amount of money as an Administrative Assistant. A man with Robert Palmer’s money would have just given the woman credit cards and told her to go at it! Do you agree? You are right about Robert Palmer being gorgeous and his music was pretty great, too. Hang in there.

  • Ll

I’m a student along with Phylsdeal. We were given an assignment in a class which included researching the careers of several artist, Robert Palmer was one of those artist. This assignment span the entire year. While researching we found someone leaving madeup stories such as the one found here. Some of the facts would change. For example in one story he has 5 children in another he has 3. Including the $5000.00 per month pay myth is something new. Phylsdeal found a blogger that said he started working with RP in the 1970’s, so she asked if any of this was true. He did respond and cleared some things up, but this person(s) continues to put out half truths all while claming to be “a friend.”
I have never met RP nor MA. Phylsdeal met the Ambrose family many years ago by visiting a grill that they use to work at, that is how we know the age this person is giving is wrong. What is the motivation? Who knows? It’s just kind of annoying to us and the class when we see yet another nutty story posted. After finding out how talented and original Robert Palmer was, it is sad to see this rubbish attached to his name.

  • lacebra

I do not mean to spread lies. I am just going on all that I have read! I found three different pictures of a woman, all identified as Mary Ambrose(two with Robert in them)! Also found an “Addicted to Love Video,” with this same woman! 1995 video. Something else funny–the weatherman Mike Ambrose that people claim was Mary’s father! Read up! This guy died in sept 2008 in San Diego, and EVERYBODY reported he NEVER married or had any children, and was reclusive and had severe anxiety attacks! In the video she looks to be in her 30’s, but you never can tell! However, actions speak louder than words. Robert could have gotten rid of her anytime he wanted to, but he didn’t!Also, I have read several times she was paid $5,000 a month as a housekeeper and personal ass. from 2000 to 2003. But who knows? The more I read, the more confused I get! Keep responding and tell me more!

  • Randall Carver

Lacebra, you sound foolish and you don’t know what you are talking about. Mike Ambrose was well liked and most certainly was married with two children, one of which was in fact Mary Ambrose, born on June 9, 1976. I am from San Diego, California and that is common knowledge about the late Mike Ambrose. People who experience anxiety attacks do not report the nightly news. Sorry. You quote “actions speak louder than words” and your actions indicate that you do not have the slightest idea of what you are talking about. Site your sources as to the Mary Ambrose pictures, or I and everybody else reading your blogs will assume that you have invented this information. I am sorry to inform you, but I was in fact friends with the man that Mary Ambrose worked for prior to working for Robert Palmer, which she did. The articles mentioning that are correct. Bethany Sloane’s article is accurate, as well as Marianne’s comment. I did meet Robert Palmer briefly, through my friend, John Agostino. Although we were never really friends I found him to be a gentleman. Marianne was right on about one person using several names to spread hostile messages to various websites. The young man doing this is John Agostino’s son. He is in his twenties and has issues. One of them is that when Mary Ambrose started working for his family, he developed a major crush on her. He felt he was in love with Mary for a long time and his parents had to speak with him about this. John Agostino also saw his handiwork on the internet and he talked to him about it. He was concerned, naturally. He has told his son to please stop doing this, but I doubt he will. I am sorry but there is no “class” nor is there any assigment about Robert Palmer. There is only one troubled young man who needs to grow up. As for the Ambrose Grille comment, no such place ever existed. Mike Ambrose was a newsman, not a restauranteur. Thank you.

  • Phylsdeal

Lacebra, we have seen the articles about Mike Ambrose also, the newscaster, refered to as “Captin Mike.” He past away single AND childless. From all reports Mary was born in Ohio and followed her sisters to CA. We are not sure if her father’s name is Mike. I have also seen photos of her. Two from other sources and one from the blog LL wrote about. One might be from the mid-1990’s short hair a little thinner, she was a curvy girl, sparkly blue eyes, very pretty. Once the class saw a picture of her we understood why RP wrote the song Simply Irresistible. Like you, SOME of us find her store facinating. You have to admit it is a great love story! Maybe not so much from the family’s point of view and maybe that’s why there’s a fight over the will. The ruling changed some law in Switzerland but you would need a small legal team to figure it out. Also LL is only about the music of RP. He thinks it is disrespectful. I’m with you.

  • LL

Today would have been his 62? birthday. Give him a break.

  • Phyldeal

    Robert Palmer! Capricorn!
    Robert Palmer! Capricorn!
    Robert Palmer! Capricorn!
(that’s for all the YouTube fans)

  • LL

    lmao

  • Phylsdeal

    Happy Birthday RP, RIP-I’m out.

  • Ll

I think Phyl meant to say, story facinating. Just a word to Lacebra and everyone who are so into Mary Ambrose’s life. Robert Palmer had a very private personal life. In the many interviews and articles I have read he always kept it short when asked about his family life. Yea, from our point of view it could make a really great story but the people involved are very real. While doing this “project” I often thought about his children, his mother, father, brother and sister-in-law, they seem to have been very close to him. They have to see this stuff. It just feels wrong to me when it veers off course, from the music. That’s all.

  • Cary

HeyHey Phyl! This is the internet. Don’t give every thing away. Did you read the Agostino angle, new huh. Also, the grill where some of the ambrose family worked at, real. Phyl and LL real. I think the love stroy angle is were you should go. Can’t wait to hear what you two come up with.

  • Ll

After this, I’m starting to think I want to be fake too. Ok I’m made up and fake, just ignore me. Thanks! Did Phyllyd leave?

  • Plausable

She gone now. Found ya’ll. Boy he has some hard core fans. I was wondering If LL heard the line in Deadline, “I’ve been told I’ll die but I don’t know when.” Or something like that. Kind of strange, you know he could get all metaphysical and stuff. I wonder if the line is true.

  • Ll

Something to check out. Hey I’m fake! Stop it!

  • lacebra

I have all three pics of mary and the video posted on my facebook, but some of you are so mean, i don’t think i would feel comfortable revealing my name. i should have put a fake name on facebook.I think one of the main reasons some are curious about mary’s life is because of the suicide(sad). I have alot of Robert’s videos posted on my facebook. I guess he was only one of many great talents!

  • Cleopatra 7

Phylsdeal/Ll, or whatever else you want to call yourself, liarliar might be a good alternate name for you, I believe Mr. Carver’s account. You should not try to laugh off the fact that people are concerned about you. The only class you should be enrolled in is a cognative therapy class. Snap out of it and grow up, you are in your twenties now, not a horny teenager that wanted to bonk Mary Ambrose. As for you Lacebra, you may join Phylsdeal/Ll in the therapy group. And to be honest with you by your writing style you sound more like a guy than a gal. Oh yea, maybe you and Phylsdeal/Ll can get together and have a great time. I’m glad that you and your new buddy are now announcing that you want to be fake. You can both embrace the fact that your sanity is fake. See you at the Ambrose Grille but if you don’t say hi to the Ambrose sisters! I hear the Andrews sisters work there too! Queen of the Nile signing off.

  • lacebra

Right! I am positive Cleopatra 7 is NOT a fake name! Don’t be a hypocrite! You are also being fake! goodnight.

  • Phylsdeal

The capricorn thing is for a real fan cleo. The great James Brown called Robert Palmer that in a performance. But I guess you’re not fan. We all are! Lacebra I’ll catch you in another forum sometime and maybe I can see what you have.goodnight

  • Plausable

Yea! it’s break time. You guys are very quiet today are you somewhere else? I just wanted to know if L check it out? I wasn’t trying to be malicious. It’s my fault I didn’t read the article that was stupid of me. L and I have discussed the song before. So if I offended anyone sorry.

  • Showtime

So this is what happens when Im not around.
lacebra this is a real class its 23 of us and some are performance artist some are writers song and script most are musicians some in bands some even classically trained. Im a film and photography major. Sometimes class discussions can get a little out there. Believe me this is just a glimps into the madness but don’t take it too serious yes we have fun but I don’t think anyone would bother you on facebook or anywhere else. Not that kind of crowd.

  • Phylsdeal

Hi everyone! Working hard or hardly working. One more thing I wanted to tell lacebra, if you haven’t seen this already search Modonna Robert Palmer or Madonna mtv awards on YouTube. It’s Palmer presenting her with an award. I think it’s the hottest clip I’ve seen of him so far. I saw your question and the person who replied is a big fan of RP and very knowledgeable. I think the name is Rutledge or something like that. There’s also someone who post videos from the vinegar joe days. He sounds like he knows a lot but he is kind of touchy. You can offend him very easliy especially it you don’t take RP music seriously. He’s not into the fluff only the music. Good luck to you!

  • liarliar

Thanks for the cool name cleopatra7. Cary here. Question, I thought the suicide was just a rumor. Did anyone factcheck that?

  • Ll

On it and that’s a tough one, anyone who’s somebody and would know if it is fact or fiction avoid the question like the plague. Like I said I’m really not into the Mary part too much so I haven’t checked it. There was a blog with a Mark Palmer chat on it maybe I’ll read it and see if it’s mentioned. My question to the class is. How do you know when you have enough information?

  • Phylsdeal

The most important questions are answered completely!

  • Plausable

You time is up! See you next week.

  • Ll

Exactly! You have a sense of a big answer to go with your big question! Well at least two people went to the website and read the assingment. Have a great weekend.

  • Showtime

A friend or two has looked over what you have found AND agreed that you are finished searching for information. And don’t you forget it.

  • Dale

Lookout Wilhelm Richard Wagner! I can’t wait to hear about his love life, it was scandalous. Sorry I couldn’t comeup with a witty screenname. Cleo7 can you help me? Until next week stay safe everyone.

  • lacebra

phylsdeal, I posted the video to my facebook! My he was classy! I still think he was a dog when it came to women! Oh well! Nobody’s perfect!

  • Cleoparta 7

Sorry, I could not get back to you sooner! I was at Alice’s restaurant. The Magurie sisters work there, and I hear Phyllis is Sam Giancann’s girlfriend. I know this because Phyllis’ sister told me that Phyllis had met Sam and the next thing you know she was picking up her things from the restaurant and moving in with Sam. Who who! Dale, I have a suggestion for an alternate name for you, Napoleon, that would get peoples attention. Hey, Hey, Kathy Lehymeyer,(Lacebra, Sherry) if you are going to get wild and crazy, cover your tracks better! In one of your Spams you posted your facebook ID and picture. Oops! Your hair looked great in that picture. Some people are right in saying that you are worth more than $5,000.00 per month. Oh, and Lacebra, look up the meaning of the word source, O.K. babe? You might even ask Phyl-LL’s-Deal. He or she is a journalism major somewhere upon the earth, according to him or her anyway, and they will apprise you of the facts regarding this issue. All right gang, how are those cognative therapy classes going? Have you gotten any insight yet? I will pray to Isis for you. Queen of the Nile signing off.

  • lacebra

That’s not my hair! The picture on facebook is marilyn monroe! thanks anyway.

  • Cleopatra 7

All righty then. You should have taken credit for that picture anyway. I got some information for you. Go to the official website of Robert Palmer and look under the memories label. There you will see a picture of Mary Ambrose with Robert Palmer posted by one of his friends. Also, go to an article entitled “Robert Palmer was addicted to my love” under blogover. There, you will also see a head shot of Mary Ambrose. To Liarliar, no, I don’t have any information as to whether Mary Ambrose is alive or dead. If her father and her friend say she is dead, though, that makes me wonder. They must not have liked her very much to spread that rumor if it is false. Also, on the Mary Ambrose Whos dated Who site, Geraldine Flemming-Mueller has asked that people stop asking questions about Mary Ambrose’s alleged death and to leave Mary Ambrose in peace. She sounds like a respectable woman so I am going to do just that. It won’t stop me from harrasing others, however. As everybody knows, my reputation proceeds me. I am getting ready for a date with Julius Caesar, so I gotta go. Queen of the Nile signing off.

  • Phylsdeal

I’ll try to keep my typo’s to a minimum, you know I type as fast as I talk. Remember cleo you can change your name over and over, you can even change an email address, but you can’t change a url. Hope you have that cookie box unchecked now. Yea, we’re on to you. Keep blogging baby.

  • Cleopatra 7

Phyls-Ll-Deal. I am sorry, but I do not know what you are talking about. I was just trying to have some fun. Also, I am a Computer Sciences major, but thanks for the tip buddy. As for changing my handle, I like Cleopatra 7. I don’t recall saying anything about your typing speed, or your typos. Are you getting paranoid? So, I just wanted to give this merry little group the lowdown, and I do mean the lowdown on what Mary Ambrose actually looked like. Can you spell fat? Sorry, but fat, beady eyes and collagen injected lips does not indicate beauty to me. But as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I believe Lacebra, Kathy, etc. is gayly in love with Ambrose, so much so that she hallucinated that a beautiful professional dancer was Mary the cow. My idea of beautiful is Angelina Jolie or Charlize Theron. But maybe that’s just me. My only reason for mentioning the Flemming-Mueller comment was to really try to get people to stop saying that Mary was dead if she is not. She did have two children, and it might upset them. I know you guys are having fun, gut please try to keep it in perspective. And oh yea, you better check your Doc Watson, if you have not done so already. Say hello to Phil Rauls for me before you put your head ten yards up his ass. A little tip about your paranoia issue. Try some lithium. It could work wonders for you. I gotta go. My barge is taking off.

  • Phylsdeal

I was talking to the class, buddy. Alice’s restaurant? Sam Giacanna? What are you like 80? Your fact’s are so twisted. Where in the world are you liv….oh yea by the river D-Nile. Who do you think you’re fooling? You haven’t seen the inside of a school in years. Sure that major wasn’t Antikythera?

  • liarliar

Interesting, computer sciences major? I’m sensing some anger cleo. Phyl give him time to look it up;)

  • lacebra

I do not think mary was pretty, just wondering why Robert did! If I would be in love with anyone, it would have been Robert! Why are you so mean?

  • Octavian

I do believe this name is witty everyone, and more suitable, because our forces are nearing you cleo, so do what you know you need to do. Doc Watson!?! I knew you were from the mountains and not the valley. I agree with cary. You are very hostile and you sound a bit jealous of lacebra. You called mary fat, then proceeded to say you want everyone to leave her alone. Sounds as if you might need lithium. Maybe, secretly you wish you could have know mary like phil?

  • Phylsdeal

Lacebra, I thought cleo7 scared you away! In the pic we have of her from the late 1980’s she’s cute. I still haven’t seen the pics you have. I did see one from yahoo, It might be from 2002. She’s older and had gained some weight. I was really young when I met her family. I do remember her brother, but I can just remember her being curvy with short blonde hair and these really blue eyes. I wanted to give you the name of someone who worked with her but you know who is listening. I’ll have to figure out another way. I was wondering the same thing you said. What the heck did he see in her? Then I read a interview she gave. Not the “addicted to my love” article. That article’s garbage. They took bits and pieces from another article and made it up. In the article she sounds really smart, has a quick wit. If you know anything about RP he has a bit of a sick sense of humor. Well I wount say sick, maybe sarcstic or dry.

  • JesseJames

Are the traps set yet? Phyl be careful, stay focused. We’re in it to catch a rat, that’s it. See you at the top of the list.

  • Cleopatra 7

Oh oh. Octavian’s after me! You better let up or I am going to send Marc Antony after you. I intend to be the ruler of the entire world. I am glad to see there is another ancient history fanatic out there. I was starting to believe I was alone. I agree with you Phyl. The “Robert Palmer was addicted to my love” article sounds made up to me, too. I know my husband loves me but even he does not make the over the top statements the the writer does in that article about Palmer’s feelings for Ambrose. I never met Robert Palmer, but he just did not look that friendly or forthcoming. You know, no person would prefer a steam iron as opposed to a BMW. The writer of that article is just whack. You got me on Antikythera. What does that mean? As for me being mean, well I’ve got to stay sharp. Sometimes, being too nice just does not pay off. And you are right, Phyl, sometimes I am oldschool. I gotta go! I hear the river Nile is flooding. Oh, Jesse, see if the Younger brothers will help you out with those traps!

  • Plausable

Oh no! I heard, tell me it isn’t so.

  • kristian

Give me a minute to catch up, my first time here.

  • liarliar

I know:( I was hoping she just wanted people to leave her alone.

  • Phylsdeal

Well everyone I think it’s true. I think Mary did die. Hey jess, I hear you. Hey Kris, really loved your presentation. I have to check one more thing. It’s a song on her sister’s cd. Haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet but…maybe it’ll have something. I can’t believe it, this is getting tragic! I hope it’s not true too.

  • LL

Don Henley’s Dirty Laundry-you don’t really need to find out what’s going on- Told ya.

  • kristian

Wow! OMG I hope its not by suicide. That would be sooo tragic.

  • Plausable

This is TRULY some kind of Romeo and Juliet s…you couldn’t make it up! I bet his family drove her to it.

  • Phylsdeal

    I don’t believe yet.

  • Plausable

I believe it. I mean, think about it. They were really in love. You said she felt that meeting Robert Palmer was her destiny and he said the same thing. Remember the list she said someone wrote about what they wanted in a husband and RP’s name was on that list! And then in another article he talks about a shaman telling to call his girlfriend. With that type of belief system, it’s not a stretch to think she could have committed suicide

  • Plausable

    just to be with him.

  • liarliar

    ok

  • Phylsdeal

Nobody’s with you on that one.

  • Plausable

I’m telling you,the kid’s drove her to it. I want to see what you come up with.

  • Octavian

Cleo, just like your facts about RP, your history facts are fuzzy. You know Marc Ant’s got nothing on me and I rule your world.

  • Phylsdeal

    Dale, Paaalease.

  • LL

Now you’re really confused, right! I told you to sitck to the music. Now you’re sad, too bad! Keep digging, you might not like what you find.

  • Phylsdeal

Blah blah blah LL. Hey showtime’s playing message in the bottle down the hall. Sounds pretty good.

  • LL

Put a request in for me. “I left my wallet in EL Segundo”

  • lacebra

It is a matter of public record that Mary Ambrose committed suicide in a London hotel room in 2005. Not too long after she received only $20,000 from Robert’s estate. She fought and lost. As far as them being in love, he was screwing everyone that moved, and she had 2 kids by 2 different men during the time they dated! If that is true love, no wonder the world is a confused place! Robert, I still think you were gorgeous!

  • JesseJames

Phyl you’re not going to believe this! It’s a relative. Also, I can’t pull any public records here or there, so I’m not convinced yet. 67’s mo’s the same, might be repeating or could be the source. I’ll track it overnight, put everyone on hold until I complete the list.

  • Cleopatra 7

I enjoyed my time spent with you people. But I am fickle, I am known for that. So this will be my last message to you. Being Egyptian, I loved the Sphinx and her riddles. I gave you people quite a few clues, but do you think you will be able to solve the riddle? I hope so. Octavian, you do rule my life! I was inspired by Robert Palmer’s song Looking for Clues, you know. I am inspired by musicians and my father’s nickname was The Musician. I thought you First Grade Detectives would enjoy the challenge. I have one final clue for you. These are Robert Palmer’s final words. Satan, Satan, lema sabachthani! It’s latin. Look it up. As for the is Mary alive or dead question, who cares? Goodbye, children.

  • Lady Doctor

This is a message to Mark and Nancy, I mean John and Rae Agostino. You called yourselves by so many different names that you confused people. I like your upgrade in age, too. In your sixties, already? Wow. Are you still getting those special shipments to the clinic? Or did that end when Robert Palmer died? I just wanted to remind you that the next time you get together to party with Mary Ambrose to not forget the cattle prod. Oh, and Johnny, go easy on the Sodium Penathol. You could hurt somebody with that stuff. A Sodium Penathol overdose could result in death. And your belief that Sodium Penathol removes memories permantently is not true. It only causes temporary memory loss. You are Board Certified so you should know this. Oh, and here is a message for Jack Bruce. Do you still own that storage barn close to the Del Mar race track? It always came in so handy. And no, Jack, there is no such thing as Psychic Broadcasting. Although you convinced nobody of this reality as you described it, it was the subject of much laughter, once you left the room. Guess what, guess what? I channeled Guadalupe recently. She sends Robert’s regards. She also sent Chris Blackwell’s regards. Oh, and Jack, in the future try to remember your wife’s actual name which is Margrit and please don’t refer to her as Old Rose. I am sure Margrit would not appreciate it. Oh, another thing! Stop referring to Mary Ambrose as Kiki. She hates that. Good luck on your next tour, Jack, should there ever be one. (This message is only intended for those names included therein.) See you all in London.

  • JesseJames

What a pathetic group of friends and family. Do they really think we need clues?Do they really think we don’t know who they are? Only intended for those names included “therein.” BUCK OFF! Oh yea we figure it out, you’re all losers.

  • Octavian

London’s calling? Right. They can run but they can’t hide. Jesse, you and Frank are two of the baddest internet cowboys we’ve seen! We send you a big thanks for all of your help. Meet our gang on the other trail.

  • Phylsdeal

All I really needed to know I learned in kindergarted. Thanks frank and jesse.

Man that cleo’s really slow, it’s Aramaic. As the saing goes in the south, “God don’t like ugly.”

  • LL

Ima jus saing thank ya frank and jesse!

Trying to find out where Robert Palmer is buried and I stumbled across this article. Some articles say he is not buried in Switzerland. My husband is a big fan and will be working in Milan in May. He wanted to visit his gravesite which is not far from Italy.Do you have any info as to where he’s buried. (anyone from the class find it in there research?)

  • Octavian

We are not sure, because of the animosity between all parties involved. There are three “camps.” The manager, whom RP made the co executor and administrator of his will, the ex wife and children, and then there’s Mary Ambrose and RP’s brother. It depends on who was in charge of the burial. Our guess is, he is not buried in Switzerland. Why? Normally the body is released to the next of kin, in this case the adult children. Maybe because of the riff, they buried him somewhere besides Switzerland. Also, there are some fans claiming to have visited the cemetery in Switzerland and cannot find the grave. It could be unmarked. Only the parties involved know.

  • heather

Thanks. Sounds as if you have done your homework! It is sad. Such a public fight. If not in Switzerland I hope he’s buried near his parent’s home. My husband will be disappointed he’s been a fan of his for years.

  • lacebra

Robert’s son says he is buried in England.

  • lacebra

Robert’s eldest son was made administrater and co executor of will after wife susan was removed.

  • lacebra

Sorry, I meant ex-wife susan, and I spelled administrator wrong. Robert was well known to be CRAZY about his children!

  • Octavian

Heather, let us know if you find anything. Lacebra, Where did his son say this at? Is the gravesite private? Unless the ex wife and children appealed the ruling, I can only comment on the public legal doc’s up to 2009. It seems as if he cared about everyone involved, I mean he did involve them all with the will.

  • lacebra

I do not ever write down sources when I am doing these things. Robert’s grave-site is private, per his children’s wishes. The BULK of Robert’s assets were divided among his children(from different marriages), which were his wishes. Mary Ambrose was left between(or was finally given) $15-$20,000. AS I said earlier, she committed suicide shortly after fighting the estate and loosing. Mary Ambrose is DEFINITELY DEAD.Robert and his ex Susan remained friends until his death. From everything I have read(alot), Mary Ambrose had some emotional problems(who doesn’t). The fact that she had 2 different children by 2 different men(neither Robert’s) during the time she was living in Robert’s house, doesn’t sound too good! I can look up the names, and some other info. if you insist. Info is available! It is so much trouble, it takes the fun out of this!

  • lacebra

I now must correct one comment! I think what is causing some confusion is that there was a rock critic and writer named “robert Palmer,” who is quite well known. He was married several times, with several children. I now understand that Robert(ours)was only married once, and had the two children. Divorced in 1999! when all the confusion about what was happening when started. So, one thing for sure, I know when people are reading about (our) Robert and kids, they are getting some of the material confused with this other Robert Palmer! So, be careful!

  • lacebra

Back again! I am snowed in for two days, so I am doing alot of research ! ALL my above facts are still correct, except, when i said there were two kids from only one marriage I was incorrect. Robert was married once before Sue. A first wife, with whom he had 3 kids! When I find her name, I will post! The marriage part is really hard to find info on because many sources only mention Robert’s 2nd wife Sue and their 2 children. and there is this other Robert Palmer people write about all the time! SO:CORRECTION: Robert married 2x, with 5 kids. I will try to find her name. He was married to Sue from 1980 to 1999, as I said before. Robert is buried in London! I will also try to quote some more sources.

  • dave

the singer rp was married only 1x with 2 kids, the will states it. everthing was made public in 2009. there wasnt a ‘settlement’ just a dispute about the manager being the executor and the administrator. but because he didnt inherit any money the court said it was ok. the court appointed a third party to help with the distribution of the money. the court did NOT make the amount public so nobody knows when how much or to whom the money went. theres no proof printed anywhere about

  • Octavian

You are correct about the marrage and children. I do believe your court info is fact. I’ve read the court docs. The person spreading the lies about the second wife is on full attack mode. Eveything they are writing is written under fake names and is false. I wounder if it’s someone pissed about the judgement ,which by the way leaves mary as an heir, she’s entitled to whatever the executors give to her, that’s the manager, the ex and the court appointed person. Also the articles are wrong about Ambrose fighting the children. It was the children who disputed the handwritten changes rp made to the will, which favored ma. They said the manager was a drug addict and prior to rp’s death had stolen a large amount of money from him. There was a violent struggle (it doesn’t say who was fighting) and rp fired him. The children said he showed up at rp’s funeral drunk, high and out of it. You’re right the court kept him in charge of the distributing the money. The children did not want this because they felt he would be in favor of mary. Why would rp have a will from 1986, at the height of his fame (the one the ex and children presented) that he never updated, leaving the manger and ex as co-executors if he did not want it all to go to them. Remember ma presented the same will with hand wrtten changes. If he loved her so much, and was with her for 11 years (known her for 20 years) why wouldn’t he have taken care of that? Could he have made the changes by hand to keep her happy? He had to have known it wouldn’t hold up in court.

  • dave

any family would challenge a handwritten codicil presented by a girlfriend. the court papers said it all, if you got close to 45 million laying around and throw in a girlfriend, manager, kids and an ex, not to mention a brother and parents and youve got an official heavyweight fight. trust me a family can get down and dirty. you must take care of buisness while youre here. listen to suzie orman ha ha.

  • phylsdeal

There are two people who could definitely say if Mary is alive. RP’s son who has several videos posted on Youtube and MA’s sister who is on facebook and has a website, but I just don’t have the nerve to ask. I don’t think they would respond anyway.

  • dave

it might be a touchy subject for them both or maybe not you dont know until you ask, and they would know the truth.

  • kirstian

Phylsdeal, I’ve heard the duo pomplamoose are his kids. Have you heard this?

  • phylsdeal

Yes, I’ve had several people ask me this. I don’t know where it’s coming from, but it’s a rumor. I think it’s because Jack Conte and Jim Palmer REALLY look alike and both can play several different instruments. Oh yea, JP has a British accent, JC is American.

  • phylsdeal

Finally found the vid for Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming! It’s a “duet” with BJ (the best I’ve heard her sound). I know everyone was looking for it and it was right under our noses. It’s not posted on YouTube, it’s Dailymotion, Duh! Only RP looks as if he stepped right off the cover of today’s Esquire, the rest look like 80’s rejects:) And yes girls, he’s looking hot! (I know I know i’ll stop. If it was the dancing “gorls” you boys wouldn’t complain).

  • liarliar

He’s sooooo nice to look at. He was classy, too bad, they don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

  • showtime

I still see some danzin gorls!

  • kristian

He had the amazing ability to just own another artist’s song. I can’t think of anyone today that can do it. I mean a new artist. I can’t think of one that would record a soul, blues or pop song and still come back with a rock song and make it a hit. What male artist could you compare to him?

  • Cary

The IT factor. He had it in spades!

  • Showtime

Try listening to his song Through It All There’s You from his first album and then to Tell Me I’m Not Dreaming. It’s a trip really.

  • Cary

I think I read somewhere that his family played the recording of RP as a kid singing into a tape recorder. I would love to here that!

  • Showtime

I heard the song Gypsy Girl from The Alan Brown! days. It sounds like him but it has another dude’s name on it.

  • liarliar

Jess Roden? They don’t sound alike.

  • Showtime

Maybe I’m mistaken, but it really sounds like RP.

  • liarliar

It’s a short clip so it is difficult to hear if it is RP. Hummm.

  • phylsdeal

Justin Timberlake! I mean he sings hip hop, raps, sings r n b (a little bit) ah, he did a duet with beyonce, Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing (ok i’ll keep trying).

  • Cary

I noticed they did not get a standing ovation for that. She did look hot in that gold lady finger outfit thingamigig she had on!

  • kristian

Can you picture Usher singing Purple Haze or You Really Got Me or yodeling on a song.

  • dj

WTF YODELING! thats what i picture him saying

  • dj

What song did he yodel on? I’ve got to hear that!

  • phylsdeal

Change His Ways, watch the vid too. He yodels at the end of the song.

  • liarliar

I’ve seen a couple of videos where he yells “Yee doggies” at the end. Too funny.

  • dj

He was old school bad! I saw a video of him and it’s obvious he’s drunk, but man the way he handles that band it is incredible. He even sang around about to let the lead guitar back into the loop. That’ old school.

  • phylsdeal

There’s a vid of RP and James Brown singing Try Me on YouTube check it out. The title is wrong I think it says Tell Me or Tell My. You know, I don’t like those vids of him. Not because he’s drunk, I think out of 30+ years of him performing it’s the only vid of him noticeably wasted or high for R&R that speaks volumes, but because it was one of his last live performance.

  • Cary

Can Billie Joe Armstrong cover I Whip My Hair. Don’t think so.

  • liarliar

I don’t know about that one, maybe Jon Bon Jovi covering Nicki Minaj’s Massive Attack or maybe Katie Perry Firework. Good night on that one!

  • kristian

    ok

  • liarliar

Mary Ambrose is alive. It’s a fact, no doubts! For some reason Phylsdeal can’t post on this blog, it might be because they share an url with diff. names, I don’t know. Go to the school’s blog, you will not believe who has confirmed it and is on skype with the class!

  • LL

I told everyone it was a vicious rumor! The bizarre behavior of one person who has now sparked a few other nuts into spreading the same lies.

  • LL

Mary’s Alive! We’re loving life. Thanks to you “anonymously hugely incredibly famous you know who you are singer” for filling us in. Talk to you all at the blog spot. Phylsdeal, Showtime, Kristian, Cary, Liarliar, Jerry, Jason, Octavian, Kelly, Jillian and Aidan congrats to you all. “We got to Keep In Touch..I don’t mind if I don’t hear a word from you in years, if you blow my candle out I will fall to tears…” MY favorite Robert Palmer song. Meet you all here in Sept. RIP to the guy that brought us together.

  • Pipi

Nobody did it better. Robert Palmer’s wowing the crowds up above. May he RIP.

  • Aidan

From one fan to another, well said Pipi. To all of my comrades, thanks for a great 3 years I’ve tried to absorbed it all. You are all so talented I’m sure we’ll see someone’s name up in “bright lights” one day. I have gained many friends that I will always “Keep In Touch” with but I’ll add lyrics from my favorite RP song, “Why hesitate? Why compromise? You’re a friend of mine, suddenly I am here with you” Aeroplane from the Don’t Explain album (truthful fans will know why I chose the co written version:) so like LL I would like to thank Mr. Palmer for writing his story into his music and doing it his way! May he Rest In Peace.

  • Astarte

Robert Palmer was defininely too young to die. I still miss him. He was one of my favorites. Pipi, you are right on. There is a clear resemblance between the handsome Robert Palmer and the fabulous Roger Moore. Palmer was Bond material to the max. And boy could he work the stage. May he RIP.

  • Papa Doc

I was always a fan of Robert Palmer’s. It is a shame that he passed so young. When I was younger I always wanted to look like Robert Palmer in a snappy suit, but I only managed to look like the local banker instead. Oh well, I guess nobody can have it all. Robert Palmer had a style that nobody could beat. May he RIP.

  • Joe Don

I was sad when I read about Robert Palmer’s untimely death. I was many years ago, but he sure still has his fans. He was great to watch onstage. There was no doubt about it, Palmer was “born to perform.” The man had game. God rest his soul.

  • Kai

I enjoyed Robert Palmer’s performances and music when he was younger. His style was different and he set a certain precedent in music, there was no question about that. However, when he got older, it was obvious that his lifestyle and his drinking problem had gotten the better of him, which made me sorry. Sure, we all partied when we were young, but the majority of us calmed down by a certain age. Palmer did not. Unfortunately, in two videos I saw of him, he was quite obviously drunk on stage. Both videos were recorded in 2003. All I could feel was sorry for the man. In one of the videos, he was smoking a cigarette while singing. As I said I enjoyed his earlier performances, but getting on stage while inebriated and casually smoking a cigarette is unacceptable. I hate to be crude, but with his life style of, lets face it, alcoholism, excessive smoking and womanizing while having received a medical diagnosis of Hypertension and Mitral Valve Prolapse, which is a genetic heart condition, well then, it was not surprise that the man died of a heart attack at fifty-four years of age. I noticed too in his later stage performances that those on stage with Robert Palmer had to give him direction during his performances, as if he were loosing track of what he was supposed to be doing. It was clear that there was a problem. I am a middle aged man, and I know that middle aged men can become difficult about doing whats right for their health, so I applaud his girlfriend Geraldine for at least trying to get him to clean up his act. I know that it was not easy for her to deal with a man who was both stubborn about facing his health issues and indifferent about the effects that his behavior wrought on his health in general. All the same, Robert Palmer could be cool, and that is what I will remember him for. I know that he really put a lot of himself into his last album, and it shows a little bit about how he was feeling before his death. May he RIP.

  • Aloha

Kai’s comment about Robert Palmer was both insightful and correct. I was both employed by and a friend of Robert Palmers’. There is really no question that Robert had a serious substance abuse problem and that he was realistically not doing anything to take care of the problem. It was understood that Robert was a user of drugs and alcohol since his teens until his death. Robert also knew very well what his problems were, and occasionally he would take a stab at trying to clean-up his lifestyle, but it never lasted long. Robert’s friends that cared about him tried to get him to enter rehab, be he refused to do so. And of course, Robert had plenty of people who called themselves his friends but could not have been in reality, because friends do not watch someone they care about get into trouble and not try to at least help. Robert’s friend and sometimes creative partner, Ali Campbell of UB40, was direct and honest in pointing out the fact that Robert Palmer was heavily into drugs, and cocaine in particular. He did so in interviews after Robert’s death. Robert was still doing a gram a day before he died, and that was just completely unacceptable. Nobody living should do that. Robert in particular knew better as he was diagnosed with Hypertension and Mitral Valve Prolapse and he knew his using was destroying his health and his life. Ali Campbell did say that Geraldine Edwards really went to the mat trying to convince Robert to get into rehab and get help. She is a highly intelligent woman who knew that if he did not that he was not going to live much longer. She even went so far as to threaten Robert that if he did not get help in a serious way, that she was going to terminate their relationship, something that he desparatley did not want her to do. His solution to the problem was not to use in front of her. When she was around, he would sneak his fix. When she would notice that he was high, she would become furious with him. Geraldine Edwards, believe it or not, did not drink or use. She was a social drinker who stopped consuming alcohol at age thrity-five, saying that did not feel the need to drink alcohol to fit in. She experimented with drugs in her teens and said it was something she would never do again or encourage. Her decicison to be completely abstimounious angered some people and raised a few eyebrows, but she had maintained that it was the best decision of her life. One of the problems with Robert ceasing alcohol and drug use was Mary Ambrose. Robert had met Mary socially in 1995 and he knew for a fact that she had a substance abuse problem. When he hired her as his live-in Estate Manager and became involved in an affair with her, his problem ratcheted up. Mary Ambrose loved to party but did not have the money to buy drugs. She was always glad when someone was willing to pay for her to get stoned. To that end, she would tell Robert that he did not have a substance abuse problem, and that he should make up his own mind about what he wanted to do and not let any other person tell him otherwise. She was his enabler. Mary Ambrose was never concerned about Robert, she was concerned about his money, as evidenced by her later behavior. Robert would weaken and soon he was paying the freight for Mary Ambrose and his fair weather friends to party on his dime. These friends naturally loved Mary when she would set up these unacceptable parties. Everybody likes to get something for free. Myself and quite a few other people that did care about Robert told him to get Mary Ambrose out of his life, that she was a horrible influence on him and that he was no longer a young man who could burn the candle at both ends. He told me that “He would take my suggestion under advisement.” I knew he was just shining me on. A mutual friend of mine who also knew Robert told him the same thing that I did about Mary Ambrose. At the time he told him, Robert was very high. Robert told him that “He could not get rid of Mary, because she was better trained than his Alsations.” But those that cared about Robert did step up and tried to help him. At the end of his life, Robert had promised Geraldine, who stuck with him as his girlfriend, that he was in the process of removing Mary Ambrose from his life, but before she could exit for good he had to clear-up a legal matter between himself and Mary Ambrose, a Settlement Agreement that was being stipulated where Mary Ambrose would agree not to give any interviews about Robert or any of his friends to the press. Before that legal manouever could be enacted and paid-out, Robert died. I will say this. In the end, Robert was really trying to do what was right, but it turned out to be too little too late. The damage to his health had been done. Robert was a good man and a good friend to me. That is what I will remember about him. May he RIP.

The comments made by Kai and Robert Palmer’s friend Aloha were not exaggerations. I worked at an upscale San Diego restaurant called the Grant Grille. Robert Palmer came in quite a bit, and he was not the easiest person to wait on. He never had less than four alcholic beverages with his meals and sometimes more. And he was not particularly polite to the staff. When he arrived on certain occasions, it was obvious that he was not only lit, but high as well. Robert Palmer did have a second home in Del Mar, California, which he spent quite a bit of time at as witnessed by his frequent visits to the restaurant. I looked up some information about him when he died out of curiosity, and saw a picture of Mary Ambrose in a group shot with Robert Palmer. I had to laugh, because he would come into the restaurant with Mary Ambrose from time to time, and when he did, it was always a disaster. She invariably ended up running out of the restaurant in tears. The minute they sat down together, Robert Palmer would start up on her. He would start barking orders at her, and speaking to her in a denegrating voice and fashion. I hate to be judgmental, but Mary Ambrose was nothing to look at. She was plain and extremely overweight. On a couple of occasions, as they were seated, Robert Palmer started giving Mary Ambrose work instructions, highlighting his instructions with admonitions of telling her to “do it right this time.” She generally responded the same way to his actions, which was to say “Were on a date! You said you wanted to spend time with me! Don’t talk about work, this is about us being together.” And he would generally respond with something like “Mary, I don’t have time for this. Just do as I say.” They were quite the charming couple. He shouted “Can’t you do anything right?” to the woman on so many occasions that a waiter jokingly said that it must be her middle name. On one visit to the restaurant, while both Robert Palmer and Mary Ambrose were bombed, they got into a real throw-down. Mary Ambrose screamed at Robert Palmer at the top of her lungs, disturbing the other diners, “I am ordering you to not see her ever again! Do you understand? I am ordering you!” That was her mistake. Robert Palmer stood up to his full height and said “You don’t give me orders, you take orders!” And before she could stop him, he picked up his plate of food and threw it at her. She screamed. Needless to say, the manager stepped in, asking the both of them to leave. I don’t blame his girlfriend, Geraldine Edwards, for trying so hard to get Robert Palmer to quit getting high. Not only was it destroying his health, it made him mean.

I worked as a bartender for a number of years. I worked at a club called The Gentleman’s Club in Del Mar, California, from 2000 to 2004. To be perfectly honest with you, the club was a pick-up joint that attracted well-heeled older “gentlemen” looking for a date with women in their twenties. The cover charge was fifty dollars, and drinks started at ten dollars a pop. Not a club for paupers. The majority of the club’s customers were married and yes, more often than not, they paid in cash. They were the type of men who would rather keep their names to themselves under the circumstances. This club also attracted a group of young women who were interested in meeting high-dollar men. These women were available to these more than generous men. On any given night, you would see the majority of the patrons leaving with their newest “conquests.” Money talks. Mary Ambrose was a regular at this club. I remember her quite well. She came in on many occasions. The reason that I know who she was was because she payed in plastic. She always put her tab on her credit card. One night, while three sheets to the wind, she confided in me that she was Robert Palmer’s girlfriend, and that she lived with him. I thought that was kind of strange, insomuch as she was hanging around the club and picking-up on wealthy men. She was seen leaving with her new friends on numerous occasions with a big smile on her face. If she was Palmer’s girl, I wondered what she was doing at the club dating these guys, but it was not for me to ask. A few times, she came in with older men, some of them notably British. I never once saw her come in with Robert Palmer. As I recall, Mary Ambrose was not very attractive. She was not pretty by any stretch of the imagination, and she was point blank overweight. But the guys that frequented the club did not care about looks, to be honest. They simply wanted the women to be in their twenties, which Mary Ambrose was. She told me that she was twenty-three years old in 2001. I had no reason to doubt that that was the case. I saw her I.D. When Robert Palmer died and her name was mentioned in conjunction with his, I started looking for pictures of Mary Ambrose out of curiosity. Sure enough, I found a group shot where she was included. Robert Palmer was not standing next to her, but she was in the picture with him. And it was her. I was confused and still am as to how this woman could be Robert Palmer’s girlfriend, living with him, and still dating. I think she and Robert Palmer just had an open relationship, which was later confirmed by what I read about the situation. Also, I saw another woman’s name attached to Robert Palmer as his girlfriend. Her name was Geraldine Edwards. I saw a picture of them together at an event, and I am inclined to believe that this woman was Robert Palmer’s actual girlfriend. After all, musicians are not known to be exactly faithful to their women.

I worked at a popular club in Solana Beach called the Belly Up Tavern. I worked as a cocktail server there. The club got quite a few good acts to perform there, some nationally and internationally famous, and the best of local talent. It was a great job and I enjoyed working there. A lot of cool people came into the club. One person who came into the club alot that was not cool was Mary Ambrose. When I saw other people writing about how this woman behaved I could not resist adding my own rememberences. She made friends with another cocktail server that worked there named Lupe. Those two were close and I mean close, the type of people that made others uncomfortable to be around them because of their PDA’s. There are some things that you should keep under your hat. The manager had to speak to Lupe regarding this and told her to tone it down with her buddy, especially at work. Once in a while Mary Ambrose would bring in another woman with her who was older but was trying to act like a teenager. They always sat in Lupe’s section. They would start making comments about other customers, mimicking some, and thinking that they were funny. They failed to notice how they were behaving in public. They picked fights with patrons more than one time, and eventually the manager had to ban them from the club. Lupe was upset about that but she needed her job. She had a living to make. The night they were banned from the club was on October 29, 2002, and that night is burned into my memory. Mary Ambrose and her older friend were really high and saying some really weird things. It almost sounded like they were chanting, and all three were wearing pentagram necklaces. They were acting creepy, period. Some other customers objected to their behavior and Mary Ambrose threw a punch at a woman, while her older friend swore at partons. They were out. The reason that night stays with me beyond the insanity of it was that on Nov. 1, 2002, Lupe was found murdered, execution style with a bullet between her eyes. She was found floating nude in the Los Angeles River Basin. I was saddened and horrified, as was everyone that knew Lupe. She could be a really sweet person. Her family was devistated. The last shift she worked was October 30, 2002, and she was overheard talking to Mary Ambrose on her cell phone. When the police started to investigate they naturally came to the club to ask questions. Of course, because Lupe had informed everyone on staff, we knew that according to Mary Ambrose she was Robert Palmer’s live-in girlfriend. Word spread fast on that. Lupe even said that she had partied at the mansion that Robert Palmer owned in Del Mar, California. I guess he owned quite a few homes besides the one mentioned in Lugano, Switzerland. We let the police know about this, and the relationship between Lupe and Mary Ambrose. We also let them know that Mary Ambrose was banned from the club. The police came back several times and it was discovered that the last phone call made by Lupe was to Mary Ambrose. The police went to Robert Palmer’s mansion and interrogated both him and Mary Ambrose, with their attorney’s present. Robert Palmer was furious and did not know why the police were bothering him. He made his displeasure quite clear at having to be bothered over this matter. It was an ugly situation, to say the least. The last place Lupe told her family she was going to was a party at Mary Ambrose and Robert Palmer’s house for a Halloween party. She was found the following day. No charges were ever brought against either, but the circumstances were alarming. And I am afraid that whenever I hear about Mary Ambrose and Robert Palmer that is what I think of. Lupe was a nice person. May she RIP.

I developed an interest in Robert Palmer when I worked as a bartender at a pub that he co-owned called Shakespeare’s Pub in San Diego, California. When he was in San Diego, which was often, he spent a lot of time at the pub. The guy was not easy going, I can tell you that. When he wanted something he wanted it right away, and he did not make any bones about that. As far as he was concerned the staff were underlings to wait on him hand and foot with a smile on their faces when he arrived. But he was no nicer to some of his friends, either. A lot of times when he came in he brought Mary Ambrose with him and another woman named Rae, who was pushy, short, and fat. Let me throw rude into the mix. Also, a guy named John was with this group when they came in. He was somewhat scrawny and none too attractive, about Robert Palmer’s age, and he ran behind Robert Palmer like he was his assistant, although he told one woman he was trying to impress that he was a doctor. Who knows? They would be in and out, and I could not help but notice that they were high on quite a few occasions. Anyone can look at someones’s eyes and see that they are dialated. They would get bombed together, and that was when Robert Palmer would get ugly with the women he arrived with. One time, a man arrived to meet with Robert Palmer there, while in the company of John, Rae, and Mary Ambrose. Robert Palmer started laughing because he was really drunk at the time and introduced Mary Ambrose as “Fatty” which I am sorry to say she was, and Rae as “Leach” to this man. Mary Ambrose got up crying and ran out of the pub and Rae just sat there with a stunned look on her face. John just started laughing at the whole thing. When Robert Palmer sold-out his portion of the pub, we were releived. Nobody liked him or his friends. Another strange thing they did was arrive together as if they were two couples, and then start to try to pick-up on the patrons. This naturally horrified the patrons who are regular people and they struck out on most occasions. Once in a while Robert Palmer would get lucky with a star-struck woman, and they would be confused when they saw Mary Ambrose sitting in the corner crying. I assume they just figured that she had too much to drink, which was the case routinely. Sorry, but swinging went out in the sixties. No reasonable person wants to be involved in that lifestyle. It can only lead to disaster. Look at the cautionary tale of Bob Crane. It just does not work. I also saw Mary Ambrose come in to the pub sometimes without Robert Palmer in tow, and on dates with other men. Paul was not lying when he stated that she was picking-up men at the Gentleman’s Club, which has quite a reputation. God only knows what kind of parties these people threw. It brings to mind the song “Mama told me not to come.” I am inclined to believe that Geraldine Edwards, the woman the Penny Lane character was based on in Almost Famous, was Robert Palmer’s girlfriend in the straight world. I’ve seen some nice pictures of them together, acting normal. There is one of them taken on the beach that came out really nice. The both obviously worked out. That was clearly not the case with Mary Ambrose, who was never nice to me, or to anyone on staff. She even got rude with some of the patrons. But what could we do, throw her out? She was with one of the owners of the pub. Our hands were tied. And I truly think that Mary Ambrose was Robert Palmer’s swing partner. People are not idiots. On most occasions you could not tell who was with whom. And nobody likes PDA’s in public, and there were plenty of those with this group, which could be anything from four to ten people. It was never more than that. I read about the troubles that Mary Ambrose has gotten into over the years and I am not surprised. You would have had to see the woman in action. She did not know when to put on the brakes. She even was hitting on women. And I am not surprised that Robert Palmer died at fifty-four. No man that age can sustain the lifestyle he was living.

Followers of this thread would possibly find it of interest that the comments made by Cleopatra 7, Astarte, Papa Doc, Joe Don, Kai, Aloha, Maria, Dreana and Peter all come from the same IP address.

This means that either they are all actually the same person or a large group of people are using one computer. I wonder which?

Wow! Christopher Rose is Blogcritics Comments Editor. Get real. Marty Dodge is and has always been Blogcritics Comments Editor. Sorry, but you struck out on this one. But if we are now hallucinating that were are holding positions of authority that we really don’t, then I think I will put my self, Anonymous, on the Board of Directors of say Dreamworks. I always liked their productions and would like to be a part of it all, just as you have incorporated yourself here. FACT: If what you said were the case, all the aforementioned comments would have been removed. As that is not the case and the comments stand, I pronounce you a troll. Also, if anyone were going to assume multiple identities they would use different computers, not the same one. Even a ten year old knows this. Paranoia, anyone? You have heard of the late great Mr. Weiner, right?

  • zingzing

    hilarious.

  • http://www.RoseDigitalMarketing.com Christopher Rose

It gets better, zing. Other names posting comments to this article from the same IP address as Anonymous include Bethany Sloane, Laura Delamond, Lupe Alvarez, Marianne, Randall Carver, Lady Doctor, Pipi and Paul.

Perhaps it is different people using the same computer, perhaps it isn’t. Either way, I’m sure at least one of them will like to refer to the following list of Blogcritics Editors

  • Joe Q. Public

Anyone can get the names of Editors off a site. The names are readily available to the public, because the Internet is a very public venue. And anyone can use that Editor’s name, as you have done. If any message were to be given regarding misuse of this site it would have been given by Marty Dodge himself, not an Editor. Sorry, but I don’t buy it. If an Editor were to notice such a thing happening, and I am sure it has in the history of the Internet, if they were given carte blanche to do so, they would simply remove the offending blogs. And the Editor would not reappear time and again, making unprofessional comments.

You, “Mr.Rose” are about as genuine as a paper mache city. If you have an agenda against a person or persons, step up and say it directly. The methodology you have used here is cowardly. You may now add my Internet handle to your list of names that are using the same IP address if it makes you feel any better.

And I suspect ZingZing was laughing at you, not agreeing with you.

The Greatest Editor in the World
    Joe Q. Public
(Don’t forget the “Q” when you add my name to the list.)

  • zingzing

no, joe. (really, “JOE q. public?”)

chris is the comments editor, and has been for as long as i remember. if you’re using multiple names, what you’re doing is against site policy. if you’re not (and that’s the question), all good. you haven’t been deleted because chris doesn’t know. it would seem odd that 6 or 7 people were using the same computer (or ip at any rate) to gangbang the same comment thread (or two). but it’s possible. just not likely. he’s letting you know that it has not escaped his notice. but he’s giving you the benefit of the doubt, for now.

marty has no control over the comments. only chris and the other comments editor, dr. dreadful, have that.

    you’re wrong.

re: 133: almost makes you miss JOM doesn’t it Chris?

Um, Joe Qutesie, unless things have changed in the last year, you’re talking about one of the most fair-minded people I know…

despite how much we used to disagree.

  • LL

C.Rose THANK YOU! Ah…Jet…that was so wrong.

  • Ruby

Wow. Never have I read so many unfounded opinions, story variations, and utter bulls**t. I am a personal friend of the Ambrose family, (most of them still live in Ohio), and I could write a small novel in response to all the misconceptions and falsehoods written on this site about Mary. I’ll just say this: If any of you thought that she was in her twenties from 1990 and above, then you were either mistaken, confused, or totally bamboozled!

  • Patrizia

Hi everyone, I have just read some of these comments and I can tell you what I know. First of all, I am saddened to hear that Mary committed suicide. I’d met her and Robert when two of my friends toured with RP in 1991. I was 21 at the time and Mary was 24. She was super lovely and very sweet. Also, she was never RP’s maid, they met at a show in SF and had been inseparable ever since. That’s the story I was told by his tour manager at the time. RP adored Mary. I am very saddened to hear she committed suicide the year after he died.

Lacebra, could I have a look at your pics on FB? I could tell you whether the Mary I met is the person you are talking about.

  • Patrizia

The Mary I met in 1991-1992 was not Palmer’s maid. She was his girlfriend and he adored her. If you want to show us the pics you have Lacebra I will be able to tell you whether the girl you are talking about is the one I knew. I have just heard that she committed suicide. Very saddened by that. She must have been distraught about a bunch of things, first of all that her relationship with RP had ended and he died, too. I honestly thought those two would be together forever.

  • Nadine

Yikes! A conspiracy. Quick! Reassemble the Warren Commission! I really don’t think so Christopher, but thanks for entertaining us.

  • Denise

I am a huge RP fan, found many sites about him and I must admit never have I read such things on any of them as what has been written here!!

  • Denise

Almost forgot! RP’s first wife name was Shelly Putman and they had 3 children together thus he was married x 2 and does have 5 children.
Mary Ambrose is indeed alive and obviously well.
I do have one question: In the thread that addresses what RP final words were – HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?? What a lousy read that was……

  • Kael

Yea, Denise, where did you come up with the idea that a thread said that Robert Palmer’s last words were reported? That was written nowhere, nor would any entity beyond perhaps Robert Palmer’s maker, no offense intended, know that. It is sad to say, but Robert Palmer died alone so nobody would have known what his last words were. Maybe you should just try to enjoy this man’s legacy, his great music, and leave it at that. RIP Robert.

  • Denise

Yea Kael, how ’bout you go to thread 69 dated 1-26-11 written by Cleopatra 7 then get back to me on that point. Thank you for bringing my point home, however.
You are correct in just letting it be but I must admit I’ve often wondered what kind of person RP was – not trying to offend anyone – then I found this site and the things written were totally off the wall. So much for searching…..

  • jazzhands24/7

    Yada Yada Yada…

  • Kael

Denise, I read Cleopatra 7’s comment, and it all comes down to semantics and interpretation. Although her humor was black, it was clearly tongue in cheek. It would appear the group Cleopatra 7 challenged was trying to diefy Robert Palmer on some level, even referring to him as R.P. as some people refer to Jesus Christ as J.C. The phrase Cleopatra 7 asked this group to translate “Satan, Satan, lema sabacthani?” means in old Latin “Satan, Satan, why have you forgotten me?” Replace the name Satan with Eli, the old Latin name for God, and you have the alleged last words of Jesus Christ. The play on words was macbe, but it certainly made her point. The writer did not intend to be taken in a literal sense, her comment was strictly analogous. I don’t blame you for being curious about Robert Palmer. Initial reports portray him as a man of mystery. Further reading reveals his behavior to be in line with any number of men in his position. It is still my feeling that further questioning of his life is fruitless and unworthy. I will certainly let it be. Denise, I apologize about getting on my soapbox towards you in my earlier comment. I know you meant no harm. I also apologize about my use of the slang “yea”, it was inappropriate, even used in jest. Christopher Rose, thank you for tolerating my diatribe. Hang in there.

  • Denise

Kael, thank you so very much for your kindness and tolerance! Will take your wonderful advice…..

  • UBU

What the hell is going on here, I didn’t know Robert Palmer had it goin’ like that?

  • Rocky Racoon

Robert Palmer sure as hell had it going on like that. When he entered his Bob Crane phase he enlisted good old Mary Ambrose. From hearing about the woman’s background now there is no surprise that he thought of her for that aspect of his life. He kept his solid girlfriend Geraldine Edwards around when he wanted to play it straight. When the guy realized that his fun and games Crane style might impact his good reputation he removed Ambrose from his life. Unfortunatley, something like this can’t stay hidden forever. Like his music anthology says, Robert Palmer wanted the best of both worlds. There’s got to be a better and safer way to entertain yourself. But I guess if you are a world famous musician you don’t play by the same rules.

  • Trulee

Wow! Someone out there has a very vivid fantasy world….I just wish they would leave Robert Palmer out of it. No rumours, gossip or false statements can ever take away the gifts he gave the world through his music. I didn’t know him personally & never had an interest in the details of his social life. I first came upon these strange and contradictory stories regarding him & Mary Ambrose while reading comments on youtube. As a dedicated fan of his music I find it very disappointing that this drama could in anyway overshadow his legacy. Those who write long, detailed & false statements online may need a reminder that there are still other sources of information in the world outside of the Internet. The liner notes from my Honey CD, copy write 1994 tell me that Love Takes Time was written by R. Palmer/M.Ambrose/S.O’Neal. The Liner notes from my Ridin’ High CD, copy write 1992 give credit to Robert Palmer & M. Ambrose as the co-writers of the song Aeroplane….one of R.P’s loveliest songs in my opinion. Posters making derogatory remarks about the character & behavior of Mary Ambrose & Robert Palmer also claim that M.A was born around 1977 & met R.P in 1995 @ age 18…my good old CD’s however tell me that Robert Palmer & Mary Ambrose were writing love songs together well before 1995.

  • Walter Winchell

    Thanks, Mary.

MERCI MERCI ME THINGS AINT WHAT THEY USED TO BE.YOU HAVE GOT TO LOVE HIM OR LEAVE HIM ALONE.

  • Pame FiveAshe

Robert has been dead now, how long and there’s STILL all this fighting over nonsense?…He was great…Miss him…So maybe I’ll be the last post on the subject…He was just a few days older then I…Shame you went to so young, Robert…See you on the flip side…

  • sk

    still into his music today!

  • Ll

Kael you are over thinking it. Cleo didn’t have the brains to concoct such paronomasia.

  • robert star

wow there some real bithcing going on !! give it a rest show some respect !!!1

  • Truthbearer

These articles/comments are incorrect. Mary Ambrose is not dead and her father is not named Mike!
Perhaps you all need to speak to Mary to get the true story. I thought personal attacks were not allowed on this site.

  • Rosie

You all are wrong wrong wrong. I am her cousin in OH. I know the true story. Remember, you reap what you soe. Shame on you! Who’s Michael?
