    Ozzfest ’98: Best..Ozzfest…ever.

Ozzy, Tool, Megadeth, Motorhead, System of A Down, etc.

“It’s Saturday Night and the Priest is back!” Can’t wait for them to hit the touring scene! Heavy Metal fans have to experience the ear piercing vocals of Rob Halford.

  • Chris Kent

I saw Judas Priest twice back in the 1980s, once with Iron Maiden and the other with Krokus (sp?). Both shows were fantastic, though at one they had to turn on house lights because everyone made bonfires with their beer cups during “Hell Bent for Leather.” Ah, those were the days.

But aren’t Judas Priest a bit elderly these days?

Dude, 1998 was the best lineup ever because Tool was there, but we could have done without Limp Bizkit, and Coal Chamber that year. AND, they should have put the Melvins on the main stage. The Melvins are one of the most underrated heavy bands.

Note pulse-quickening YOU-ARE-THERE review of Ozzfest 2003 by crazed Blood Omen bassist Chris Olsen.

Wow..yeah, how could I forget The Melvins? I was standing next to King Buzzo as he was videotaping Motorhead’s set.

Judas Priest “elderly”? I’d give that nod to Ozzy but go listen to Halford Live and tell me that guy can’t still sing. I kind of wish Ozzy would hang it up, but no way on Priest, I’m stoked for their return!

Priest…Slipknot…Slayer…Hatebreed…Dimmu Borgir…Bleeding Through…Atreyu…Oh, Oh, mmmmmm, oh yeah….un huh…yeah…Oh, BAAAAAAABY, unnnnnggghhh! Woo, I can’t wait ’til the actual show.

Slipknot is ridiculous live. The last half hour of that show, everyone was just done. The frenzy that those boys whip a crowd into is unmatched, except maybe by Rage back when Zach was still with them.

It looks as though most of the original
Judas Priest will be there anyway.Their
drummer was just sentenced on charges of
    Child Molestaion w/ a young boy.And I’d
always thought that Halford was the one
to not drop the soap around……..

I reiterate my former staement it wasn’t
    Molestation,’twas only attempted rape of
a learning disabled teenager. MY BAD.

HW Saxton Jr – Priest has had several drummers through the years. There is actually quite a bit of controversy over the original drummer who was part of their early recordings being released on what the band felt was an inferior label and production.

The story is that ‘the band’ felt this original drummer sucked so they fired him, but he is responsible for the early Best of Priest albums (which you will see selling in bargain bins everywhere) containing extra tracks where he rambles on about the good ole’ days of Priest and how he got them together. This isn’t the same drummer you are talking about (you’re talking about Dave Holland), though.

Priest to me is the twin axes of Glenn Tipton and KK Downing, the steady solid bass of Ian Hill and Rob Halford’s screaming vocals … oh, and then that other guy on drums (Scott Travis).

Tim Ripper Owens filled in pretty well for awhile and I actually reviewed their most recent live album here at Blogcritics back in August of last year.

My Name is Haruki Dieske. I play with my dick a lot. But I want to say that Judas Priest are great because Halford is an anus licker and I love to suck rod when I listen to turbo lover. Slipknot suck they are the worst band ever. Slipknot rubbed my rod into a frenzy when I was eating a dog. Yes I am japanese and I hate all Americans. Ozzy is a stupid fat old man who needs to be buldozed by his fat wife who eats prozac. I am GOD. Who wants to fight me …because all Americans are nothing but losers. AlSO good for Dave HOlland please do that more often to stupid retarded children I condone it ..do it more. stupid american loserz.

I saw Rob Hafor in concert a couple years ago, and he was really good, so I have no doubt he will be just as impressive with Judas Priest. Anyway, this is the first year I’ve been even slightly tempted to go to Ozzfest. I’m sure Ozzy’s washed up, but Slayer and Judas Priest should be fun.

  • SAM

yeah i just want to say that slipknot suck! they are the suckiest sucks that ever sucked! thank you!!!
