Occurring on the 14th day of a regular 28-day cycle, ovulation generally lasts from 24-72 hours.

During a woman’s ovulation cycle, she releases one egg (ovum) from her ovaries. If there is sperm available at the cervix, chances increase for becoming pregnant. The only time a woman is fertile is during her ovulation cycle, more specifically when the egg is released.

Ovulation only occurs in female mammals and happens when the pituitary glands produce hormones such as LH (Luteinizing Hormone), FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone), estrogen and progesterone. Ovulation kits are available to help women track their ovulation cycles and generally cost around forty dollars. Other terms that relate directly to one’s ovulation cycle are ovulation calculators, ovulation kits, and ovulation calendars.

You’ll find bloggers talking about ovulation cycles, kits and more at sites such as Tiny-Shop and Ovulation Adventures”.
