Props, costumes and other memorabilia used in various Star Trek film and television productions are about to hit the virtual auction block, and fans can take part in one of three upcoming events. Propworx, which, according to the company is the “leading auction house specializing in the sale of screen-used Star Trek props, will hold the first of the three auctions beginning February 21, 2015. The other two auctions will take place in May and August.
Although some of the items will go for amounts in the thousands of dollars, some have opening bids of much less ($50-$100). Although to get your hands on an original series Star Trek “mid-grade” phaser, you’ll likely have to cough up more than $40,000!
The auction collectibles include hats, artwork, tricorders, costumes, and much more, including my personal all-time favorite Star Trek “character”–Tribbles. These aren’t original series tribbles, but Star Trek: Deep Space 9 tribbles from the episode “Trials and Tribiliations.” If you’ve always wanted your own Star Trek: The Next Generation Costume, you might consider bidding on Worf’s uniform. Or Wesley Crusher’s. A wardrobe lot from Guinan is also up for bid.
Among the items available: 100th Episode Pin, Cobrahead Phaser, Starfleet Medical equipment, Klingon Uniform, Wesley Crusher and Worf Starfleet uniforms, all from Star Trek: Next Generation. From Deep Space 9, there are the aforementioned tribbles, a Klingon stunt blade and battle cruiser. There are uniforms and props from First Contact, Star Trek: Generations, and Star Trek Voyager as well.
You can visit the auction page at the Propworx website for more information on the Star Trek auctions and the bidding process. Bidding begins February 21.
