Healthy nutrition for the elderly is greatly affected by some components, one of them being a change in body composition. During the later years of life, the body will misplace skeletal parts and muscle and gain fat because the hormones aren’t very hardworking anymore.

Vitamin B12
In order to get the benefits of vitamin B12, a natural enzyme must be produced by the stomach. Most elderly people suffer from a lack of B12, because they are in a condition known as atrophic gastritis. This condition causes an inflammation of the stomach, bacterial growth, and intrinsic factor.
Without intrinsic factor, this vitamin can be absorbed.

Each of the nutrients needed to help keep the old body in a good health. Seniors should try to stay active and pursue a very balanced diet. Even if the body is not the youngest with proper care and the right nutrients, older people can enjoy good health and live a long life.
