The Scribblenauts series of games has been a favorite among children and adults alike since its beginning, and the newest release is certainly no exception.

The Basics
Like previous installments in the Scribblenauts series, Scribblenauts Unlimited requires you to use your imagination to create solutions to various ‘problems’. To do this, you can simply type in a word that relates to an object and watch as that object appears on screen. You are able to use multiple objects to solve problems, and there are dozens of solutions to any given puzzle. As with other versions of the game before it, the Scribblenauts Unlimited Wii U team has given this game a very high replay value; no two gameplay experiences will ever be the same.

New Feature: Attachments
New to the Scribblenauts series with its most recent installment is the ability to attach two items together in order to form one super-object. For example, if you have always fantasized about a winged alligator, you can simply request an alligator and a pair of wings before combining the two together. While this may seem quite complicated and daunting to new players, the tutorials provided by the game’s developers are more than enough to help you understand how the system works. Almost anything you can think of can be created here—and that is undoubtedly half the fun.

Open World Gameplay

Another feature that is new in Scribblenauts Unlimited is the open world experience it provides. In previous installments of the series, players were required to select their puzzles from a menu. Here, however, players are presented with puzzles as they make their way through an open-world environment and interact with other characters. Some of the locations in which you may find yourself include haunted mansions, restaurants, and even parks. You have the ability to reset your location at any time so that you can come up with even more hilarious solutions to life’s everyday problems.

Creator Tool and Multiplayer Mode
Finally, another new addition to the game is the Creator tool, which will allow you to create items during your own gameplay and make them available to the entire community via the internet. This can have a significant impact on the way the game is played, depending upon how it is used. Multiplayer mode can also be quite fun, but the real power will always be in the hands of the player who is holding the gamepad. With family-friendly gameplay and the ability to customize your experience in the open world, endless hours of exciting gameplay are a real possibility.

If you love the idea of being able to conjure up a very unique and innovative solution to an open-ended puzzle and turn that solution into a reality, then this is the game for you.

Scribblenauts Unlimited is rated E (Everyone) by the ESRB for Cartoon Violence, Comic Mischief. This game can also be found on: PC, Nintendo 3DS.
