A pre-E3 media release put out by Midway games has possibly let the cat out of the bag about Nintendo’s intended introduction of its next-gen console, simply named Wii.
The console with the funny name looks like it might hit stores sometime in October or November if Midway’s title releases are accurate.
The release says that Midway’s game Blitz: The League will release in October 2006, but it doesn’t say which consoles this applies to. However, the release dates for The Ant Bully give other platforms that title in July 2006. The Wii release is a standalone with a November 2006 release.
This means it’s possible the gaming world will see the Wii a little sooner than anticipated. Of course this is all speculation, but it is pretty interesting. An earlier release would give the console with the unfortunate name a head start on the holiday season over Sony’s PS3, but would it be enough?
At any rate, here’s hoping this question and others are answered about Wii during next week’s E3 show. There’s too many “whys” surrounding the Wii right now!Powered by Sidelines
